Chapter Text
Alastor was surprised to hear a knock on his door a couple of moments after his broadcast had finally finished. True he was expecting results from his broadcast, but he wasn’t expecting them so soon! Still who was he to keep his fans waiting, and probably slaughtering them for finding out where he was so fast! So he put on his best smile and greeted the unsuspecting sinner at the door.
Before opening the door though; being the cautious person that he was, Alastor took a quick look through the peep hole of the door. He was greeted with…..nothing? Was this a prank? Still, he would have to open the door to make sure there was no pulling the wool over his eyes. So open the door he did, and was met with the reason he saw no one. The sinner before him was small. Adorably small. He really wanted to tease this sinner about it, but also judging how wide eyed they were, this could be an easy deal for a new resident. Alastor was never one to pass up an opportunity like that.
“Hello my good sir, how might I help you?”
Alastor looked down to meet the gaze of this little fellow. He was met with crimson slits in a pool of yellow sclera. It was like the eyes of a snake, but the rest of him looked like he was as soft as a lamb. If this sinner was trouble, the only indication of him being dangerous was in those eyes. The biggest problem though, was he saw nothing but awe and pride. Why would he be looking at Alastor with pride? Then out of nowhere a tail poofed itself into existence! It was slender and long, with barbs running down the length of the tail, and a pointed almost spade like tip. The spaded tip also had a heart design in red embedded in it. He had never seen a sinner form like this before, so intricate and interesting. Almost all the sinners he had seen were animal based, some even being flora based. Very rarely did he meet one that was way more ambiguous. The sinner before him was almost adorable, especially when the tail wagged back and forth.
Alastor chuckled at this reaction over all, it was definitely entertaining. “Are you alright? New to Hell and your body?” Alastor was sincerely hoping to have this sinner under his control; or well protected, just so that he could be entertained more. He never wanted to refer to someone like a pet, so he would be more of a fun companion. He was also curious on how he would taste, but that was not to happen just yet. There needed to be some trust from this sinner in order for him to eat without a big rebellion at hand. Alastor has found that even sampling was rough and had a hard time getting his fix from his own souls. He had to rely on those he intended to rip apart.
The sinner finally had pieced themself together and gathered themself into a much more presentable version. It was always all within the posture and smile. He only got more and more interesting to Alastor frankly. “Not quite, no. Sorry about the slip up, I'm usually in much better control of myself. We have much to discuss about the two of us, in private.”
Well that had made Alastor all the more curious. Did this sinner seek him out specifically to make a deal? “Oh really? And what might we have to discuss?” This sinner was just making Alastor actually want him in a deal, more and more. He has never met someone so enticing before.
“Yes, for one, your magic lessons. I know for a fact you haven’t used your own magic properly yet. And two our deal.”
Well all of that was just thrown out the window with that statement. Not only did they know Alastor was not even close to being adept with his magical skills, he wanted to teach him? And they had a deal? Alastor would have known that to be true. At least he knew all the souls he owned as of current. No, this sinner had to be pulling the wool over his eyes. He needed to deal with this one, discreetly. He did not need others finding out where he was right now, he just announced himself to Hell. He now had a target on his back and he was going to keep to the shadows the best he could until he comes, he gets a better grasp of his powers. Something he can do himself.
“Well if it’s our deal to discuss then come inside. As for the other things, they will come second.” Alastor opened the door for him, luring him into his trap, as the sinner seemed none the wiser. He had to be new right? He was way too unguarded to not be…right?
Now the sinner tried saying something else, but Alastor wouldn’t let him. No he immediately shut the door, locking it thoroughly with his magic. He then grabbed the small figure of his and slammed him against his wall. He put his teeth on full display with a wide grin and almost a growl. He would restrain himself for now, but he had to recognize the threat that was his teeth right? “I don’t know who you are, but I have plans you shall not disrupt.”
Alastor expected his threat to work, for there to be a change in the mood of the room. Instead it was like he was oblivious to what he said in the first place. Was he listening? Of course he wasn’t, this sinner was truly defenseless against things. Alastor wouldn’t mind teaching him, and after he was done consuming the sinner, he would find him and make that deal. He was still interested in the sinner actually, threats just needed to be dealt with swiftly.
There was one thing bugging Alastor in the back of his head, something that was trying to calm him down. He was angry with the sinner for finding him and well almost threatening him; despite his rather unintimidating form. There was a part of his brain though that kept repeating home to him. He was trying his best to ignore it, but it was progressively getting louder and louder. He had only felt this way one other time in Hell, when he had spawned. That’s when it clicked for Alastor. This was not a new sinner. He had to have been watching him, because this was the sinner who found him when he formed here in Hell. He could smell the faint scent of cinnamon and petrichor. This was the comforting smell that accompanied that the one who had safely clothed him and possibly made it so that he was…..safe? Maybe? He owed this sinner, whether he liked it or not, and Alastor always paid his debts.
Finally when the sinner focused once more, he so graciously repeated himself; not with a growl first though. He didn’t do well with disrespect. “I said, I don’t know who you are, but I have plans you shall not disrupt. I already know you’ve seen me before. Yes, you were definitely the one who came to me when I formed!” It seems the sinner hasn’t caught on to their scent, or well Alastor’s heightened sense of smell, as he looked utterly confused as to how he could figure it out. “That scent is unmistakable.”
Now Alastor leaned in to inhale the scent to further confirm his suspicions, he had truly only meant it as an example to how potent this sinner's smell was, but it consumed him. He could smell it so much clearer now that he had been sampling from the source. He could smell the true scent now, it was less petrichor and more of an ozone kind of smell. The scent of a coming storm and the warning of powerful lightning. The ozone scent was accompanied with the overpowering sweetness of that fruit. The one he couldn’t quite identify before, but could easily make out as an apple. It wasn’t just a fresh and ripe apple though, no this apple had been baked into a pie, accompanied by cinnamon to make his favorite dessert. The scent was irresistible to Alastor, it was temptation itself to him, combining the sweetness of baked goods that his mother used to make, and a warning of raw and uncontrollable power. It was all wrapped up into such a small and quite adorable body too. Alastor couldn’t get enough of the scent from the first whiff, to the point that Alastor had even leaned in further to get a more potent inhalation of it.
He could hear noise faintly, which probably meant someone was around the building again. That problem was, he knew that faint voice belonged to this sinner, how was he speaking so low though? That made no sense. Until it did, as Alastor realized what he had actually been doing. He quickly pulled away, not wanting to admit what he had just been doing. He was not sniffing someone’s neck, and no one could ever convince him he was. No one. He all basically froze himself, his body, his face, any expression he might show, the damned heat he knew that was creeping up his neck right now. No he froze it all. He would deal with these damned feelings later. For now, who the fuck was this sinner?! “Who are you? Why were you there?”
“Well as I was trying to say before I was shoved against a wall and sniffed…” Nope, he wasn’t doing that, and he could feel the heat returning with a fever, trying to show on his cheeks. He quickly averted his gaze, looking at anyone except the sinner with the scent of temptation and the form of an adorable companion. He needed to stop that thought as well! “ I am here because of our deal. I enjoyed your broadcast and can’t underestimate how proud I am of my new executioner.”
Oh, oh no. Oh no no no no no. No he couldn’t be. Could he!? And he had? Oh NO! This was no sinner, no, there was only one being who would call him his executioner. Oh fuck, Alastor was out right freaking out. His hand made their way up to his neck, sliding their way up to his head, where his claws dug into his scalp, grabbing at strains of his hair, pulling at it. He had made a fool of himself in front of HIM. In front of the only person who he would even allow a deal where his soul was on the line. He was laughing in a fit of hysteria. He was making it all the worse. He had to calm down, deep breaths like his mother had taught him. Something he was not in control of and obviously his own body had betrayed him this time around. Deep breaths in and out, counting down from ten. Losing his grip on his hair as well as his muscles slowly went slack and he finally met his eyes once more. The snake-like eyes that had held THE apple. The being that had all but created the air and lightning. The Devil himself. He held the gaze of Lucifer, calming himself fully before bowing properly.
“Your Majesty, I had no idea of your form and greatly apologize for my behavior. I seem to have made a fool of myself. If you wouldn’t mind striking this encounter from your memory and starting over, I would so graciously show my gratitude to you. Not only for the deal we have made, but for visiting me on my own arrival here in your domain.”
He heard a sigh, and he could only hope that Lucifer was not disappointed in what he had seen. “I liked it better when you weren’t like this. I hate all the pomp and circumstance. Just….rise and act like before. The fire in your eyes when you thought you could eat me was much more what I liked than this…..submissive display. We both know you are anything but submissive Alastor.”
This was a huge relief to him, not only was his majesty not offended by his behavior, he was asked not to act…..polite. Alastor had this mask most of his life so that no one would lynch him for simply talking more truthfully. It was the bane of his existence having to suck up to those who were not only beneath him, but also just a regular person like him. The only thing that had truly set him a part from others was his skin and parentage. One little thing that condemned him, for something he couldn’t even control. So instead of seeing him, they always saw his skin.
On both instances where he talked to Lucifer, he had subverted all expectations. Hell, when he saw Lucifer he subverted any expectations he might have ever conceived. He was small, pale as snow, but he shined bright like the sun, the same color of his sclera. He even had two red spots on his cheeks, almost mimicking an apple. Maybe the term apple of your eye really did originate from him.
Alastor stood though, no longer bowing before him as he looked down once more to the most powerful being in Hell. “Of course your Majesty.” His smile was a lot less taught, more loose and much smaller than he held it before.
“Riiiight, no more of that either. Unless you are before something official like court; which will be rare, the Sins; which if Ozzie had his way will be often, or the Overlords; which you are on your way to be, you can just call me Lucifer. Like I said, I hate all the pomp.” This time Lucifer was incredibly animated as he talked, even walking around the room as he whispered pieces to himself. Pieces he easily heard as his ears swiveled to follow his path. Alastor kept his eyes glued to his form, eagerly awaiting to hear what he had to say. “Besides that though, like I said earlier. Training. You need to learn your magic, and while I can tell you are aware you have it and have practiced it, I can also tell you have only touched the surface of it.”
That was apparently the cue his shadow had been waiting on, as it rushed over to Lucifer, wrapped itself around him. This damned thing never listened to him and was now touching his Majesty all willy nilly. He tried his best to tug the thing back to him, with of course no avail. He then heard giggling, GIGGLING! It was coming from Lucifer too! He froze immediately, slowly looking up once more and seeing that the giggling came from Lucifer. He was giggling at his damn shadow as the thing rubbed its semi corporeal cheek against Lucifer’s. Not only was he heavily embarrassed by the act before him, he was in awe of Lucifer’s smile and laughter. He heard once that an angel’s voice was like nothing you’d ever hear, but it was like a melody. Something he needed to not think about! He tugged hard one more time, finally getting the thing under control. It frowned and pouted, even sulked as it reluctantly went back into his shadow.
“I….” He cleared his throat. “I see what you mean about learning my magic. Yes, let’s…..let’s do that.” He was finding it harder and harder to keep his composure. It was a mixture of a bunch of embarrassing things that have happened, as well as his lack of control, and the scent coming from Lucifer that seemed to have become stronger. He was really lucky Lucifer was kind of ignoring all it right now, or well letting it go.
“Him? Well, you might never be able to control him. He seems sentient and has free will of his own, but he also seems really loyal to you. Time will tell though!” Lucifer motioned over to his left as he made a small circle with his finger. A circular portal formed itself out of glitter and light. It was impossible to see what was on the other side as the bright yellow light obstructed it, but he had no doubt it was either a training ground of sorts, or the royal palace. “Shall we?”
Alastor nodded as he followed after Lucifer, he will keep his composure and get ahold of these powers. He was going to become The Executioner.
