Chapter Text
Buck looks at Eddie and he can see that the promise he has made he won't break.
“I'm a whitelighter and that means I'm a guardian angel and I'm meant to help people.” Buck says.
Eddie looks at Buck and he starts to laugh as what he has heard is just crazy.
“Eddie, what Buck is saying is true and how do you think I survived what happened at dispatch as he saved me.” Bobby says.
“I know it's hard to believe what I'm telling you Eddie as when I first got told I couldn't believe it and I was a lot younger than you.” Buck says.
Bobby looks at Buck and he wonders when he died and how old he was as he looks to be in his 20's.
“Dad it's true, I know it is.” Chris says.
“Chris I know you like to think the best of everyone but this could all be a lie.” Eddie says.
“It's not, I saw them just like I saw Bobby getting hurt.” Chris says.
“Chris, what do you mean you saw them and how could you know what happened to Bobby before it happened?.” Eddie asks.
“What Chris means is that he has the power of premonition so he is able to not only see the future but also the past as well but it looks like Chris can only see future events at the moment.” Leo says.
“Chris why didn’t you tell me as I would have tried to understand and help you to understand?.” Eddie asks.
“Because it wasn't the right time and I didn't know if you would.” Chris says.
Eddie looks at his son and he honestly feels like he let him down.
“Eddie this is a lot of information and you need to understand that just because Chris never told you, you have not let him down as it's going to be hard for you both but what you do now that's what matters.” Buck says.
Piper and Leo watch as Buck takes the lead and they see that he is doing ok.
“Chris I need you to listen to me, if you need to tell me something or if anything is bothering you then you can always come to me as it's my job as your dad to make sure you are safe and that you don't need to worry about anything.” Eddie says.
Chris hugs Eddie and he apologises for keeping things from him and Eddie tells him it's ok.
“Is that why you were there to save me?.” Bobby asks Buck.
“Yes as I'm meant to help Chris with his powers but also it wasn't your time to die.” Buck says.
“Who was that other man?.” Chris says.
“I'm sorry Chris but I can't tell you that just now as you're too young to know.” Buck says.
“I'm 11.” Chris says.
“And that's still too young.” Buck says.
“It's fine you can tell us.” Eddie says.
“Ok as long as you're sure. That other man was a warlock and he is a bad guy who is hurting people but my mum and aunts are going to stop them as they are the Charmed Ones.” Buck says.
Chris is shocked as he has heard about the Charmed Ones and he has done so much research as well.
“I take it by Chris's reaction that you and your sisters are powerful?.” Bobby asks.
“The Charmed Ones are the most powerful good witches to ever walk this earth.” Chris says.
Piper and Leo look at each other and they smile as it's clear that Chris is not only smart but cute.
“How did Chris become a witch?.” Bobby asks.
“Sometimes certain family members have the gift and it can get passed down through generations or it can skip a generation so Chris's mum could be magical or Eddie’s family are magical.” Leo says.
“Well I know for a fact that it isn't my side so it has to be my deceased wife's family.” Eddie says.
Buck looks at Eddie and he wants to ask him more about his deceased wife but he doesn't.
“Eddie with that warlock around you and Chris need to be careful so if anything happens you need to call for me right away.” Buck says.
“I promise.” Eddie says.
“Chris I don't want you to worry about anything but maybe you should think about starting your own book of shadows just so you understand why it's important for witches.” Piper says.
“What is a book of shadows?.” Eddie asks.
“It's a magical book that has spells and information on demons and warlocks but also other magical beings.” Leo says.
“Isn't Chris too young to start making a book like that?.” Eddie asks.
“Eddie, the point of the book is to help the witch as the book will grow as the witch grows and sometimes they'll add to it and sometimes it teaches them.” Leo says.
“So if Chris starts one of his own then he will understand more about the power he has?.” Eddie asks.
“Yes plus it will help him to understand where he comes from.” Buck says.
“If you're worried about what Chris should do about if he starts small and writes about his power as every witch is different and their powers work differently.” Leo says to Eddie.
“Can I write about spells?.” Chris asks.
“Chris, I don't think you should be writing about spells yet.” Eddie says.
“How about if we show him our book of shadows and show him the rules that a witch needs to follow and he can start there?.” Piper asks.
“Good idea. Why don't I take both of them up to the attic and show them.” Buck says.
“That sounds good.” Piper says.
Buck lifts Chris up and he tells Chris that he will carry him since they have a lot of stairs and Eddie looks at Buck and he should say something but he actually trusts him with his son.
“Can we orb up to the attic?.” Chris asks.
“Nice try kiddo but we don't want to rely on orbing too much.” Buck says and he walks towards the stairs and Eddie follows.
Bobby watches them go and he turns back to face Leo and Piper.
“How old was Buck when he became a whitelighter?.” Bobby asks.
“Buck was 19 when he became one and he was in the navy and he was in the middle of Afghanistan.” Leo says.
When Leo got assigned Buck as a charge and he found out how the young man had died it reminded Leo of his time in the army and how he died and he told Buck about his life and that it's hard to get used to having a new life but sometimes destiny has to get involved as it's clear that they are both needed for the greater good.
“Does Buck have any family?.” Bobby asks.
“Buck never talks about his previous life and I don't as well as the moment we became whitelighters we choose to close that door and focus on our new life.” Leo says.
Bobby thinks that it's wrong as Buck could have family out there and they could believe him to be dead.
“Bobby what you need to understand is that when my son and husband became whitelighters they had to leave their old life behind and if they had stayed in touch with their old life then that would risk exposure and that's something we can't have happen as it would make it harder for us to help innocents plus we all have a past that we need to leave behind and move on.” Piper says.
Bobby thinks about what Piper says and it's true and a small part of him was just thinking like a father/firefighter.
South Bay Social Services.
Scott was busy doing some paperwork for Paige and he was happy to be her assistant as when Mr Cowan told him that he didn't get the promotion and he chose Paige instead he stated that she took on the cases that people just ignored and she saw that there was more to them and Scott understood and he was happy for her.
Scott was surprised to be told that Paige had requested him as her assistant and it's never been done before that an assistant social worker gets assigned to one social worker instead but Mr Cowan told him that he has shown that he is capable and that he is going to make Paige proud.
Prue walks into the building and she can't see her sister anywhere.
“Can I help you?.” Scott says.
Prue sees a man coming towards her.
“Yes I was looking for Paige.” Prue says.
“She is just with a family at the moment, do you mind waiting or is there anything I can help you with?.” Scott asks.
“It's fine, I don't mind waiting.” Prue says and she goes and takes a seat.
A few minutes later the door to one of the offices opens and Paige steps out and a boy with blond hair and blue eyes steps and two adults step out and they shake Paige's hand and Tyler smiles at Paige and they all leave.
Paige sees her older sister waiting for her and she goes over to her.
“Hey this is a nice surprise, my big sister, coming to my work place.” Paige says.
“I thought we could grab lunch or are you busy?.” Prue asks.
“No, give me a moment and I'll be back.” Paige says and she goes to her desk and puts the file down and picks up her coat and bag and she and Prue leave.
Los Angeles firehouse 118
Hen had walked into the firehouse and she saw Lucy and Ravi and they did not look happy.
Hen wonders why her friends don't look happy and she will speak to them after she has gotten changed.
After getting changed into her uniform she leaves the locker room and goes and sees why Ravi and Lucy don't look happy.
“I'm telling you Ravi, the guy shouldn't be interim captain at all.” Lucy says.
“Hey guys, what's with the long faces?.” Hen asks.
Lucy and Ravi turn around and they both see Hen.
“Hey Hen I take it you haven't heard about who the new interim captain is?.” Lucy asks.
“No but I take it, I'm not going to like it.” Hen says.
“It's Chimney.” Ravi says.
“You have to be kidding me. Who the hell made him interim captain.” Hen says.
“That's what I was just saying to Ravi as it's clear that he shouldn't be interim captain.” Lucy says.
Hen used to be friends with Chimney but after awhile she started to see that Chimney was a very toxic person and he loved to play the victim and when she found out that he told Karen that she had died as way to get them back together that's when she started to really put up boundaries with him and made sure to not hang out with him as much.
“Wonder who is covering Eddie’s few days off?.” Ravi asks.
Eddie had booked a few days off from work as he hadn't seen much of Chris lately and he knew that the boy was getting angry so he put in a request to take some time off.
“I don't know but we will probably find out at the briefing.” Lucy says.
“Ok everyone, the briefing is starting so front and center.” Chimney shouts out and he comes on to the apparatus bay floor.
Chimney has two people behind him and everyone looks at them.
“Ok let me introduce paramedic Jonah Greenway and firefighter Lena Bosko. They are going to be here for a few weeks and please make them welcome and I don't want to hear any nasty comments.” Chimney says.
Everyone looks at Chimney and they think is he for real as he's always making nasty comments disguised as jokes.
“Don't worry we know when to act professional and when not to cross the line unlike some people.” Ravi says.
Chimney looks at Ravi and he can't seem to read the man's facial expression.
“It's nice to meet you guys, I'm Hen,this is Lucy and that's Ravi and we do have another firefighter but he is off for a few days to spend time with his son as he is a single parent.” Hen says.
“Well we look forward to working with you all and we can't wait to meet this other firefighter.” Jonah Greenway says.
“We know that we are all going to get along and we look forward to learning from you guys.” Lena says.
“Now that's sorted, let's talk about the next few shifts starting with how I'm going to be running things definitely from Bobby and I'll be assigning you all your chores and once they are done I'll be inspecting them and if they aren't up to my standards then I'll be marking you on them and at the end of the week I'll be reviewing your performance.” Chimney says and he walks away.
“Ok he is out of his mind.” Ravi says.
Jonah and Lena laugh at that and they can tell that Chimney is putting up a front and they will get to see the real him soon enough.
“I'll show you guys around.” Hen says and she leads Jonah and Lena to the stock room and starts the tour.
Athena and Bobby's house.
May had come to see how Bobby was doing and her mother told her that he was actually hanging out with Eddie and Chris today and May looked at her mother.
“I can't believe that you let him go to the pier with Eddie and Chris.” May says.
“May I didn't let him and Bobby made it clear that he was going and Eddie said he would keep an eye on Bobby so what was I supposed to do.” Athena says.
May knows that Bobby can be stubborn and she knows that her mother would have said a few things so May understands.
“I'm sorry.” May says.
“Sweetheart I know you are just worried and I know seeing Bobby working as a firefighter is scary as you haven't seen him really do his job that much but he is his own person.” Athena says.
“I know it's just when you guys got together we only heard stories or Bobby was always giving the orders but for him to actually rush in and do what he is trained to do just made it more real.” May says.
“I sometimes forget how much you are growing and you're going to see things that you've never seen before but I know you can handle it.” Athena says.
“Have they told you when dispatch will reopen?.” Athena asks.
“At the moment they have placed us in an emergency building and they are making sure we have the equipment we need but it's going to take at least 6 months to get the building back to how we need it to be.” May says.
“So what's happening with your shifts?.” Athena asks.
“I'm not in as much as the building is not that big so we are all on rotation just so we are not over capacity.” May says.
“That's good.” Athena says.
The door opens and Bobby comes walking in.
“Hey I'm back.” Bobby calls out.
Athena and May come and greet Bobby and they give him a hug.
Bobby is shocked to see May at the house and he tells her he is ok and for her to not worry and she says she will always worry about him and gives him another hug and she then tells them that she has to go as she is on the night shift and she gets told to be safe and she leaves.
“So how was the pier?.” Athena asks.
“Well it started out fun and then we went on the ferris wheel and it broke down and Chris fell off.” Bobby says.
“Oh my god Bobby is he ok?.” Athena asks.
“He is fine as I called for Buck and he saved him.” Bobby says.
“That's good I'm so glad but doesn't that mean Eddie now knows the truth?.” Athena asks.
“It turns out that Chris has been keeping a secret from Eddie and he is a witch and that's why Buck saved me.” Bobby says.
“Wow. I take it, you found out more?.” Athena asks.
“Yes I found out how Buck became a whitelighter and how old he was when it happened.” Bobby says.
“Well, how old is he?.” Athena asks.
“He is 19 and he died in Afghanistan.” Bobby says and he goes and takes a seat on the sofa.
“Bobby, he is only a teenager so how the hell did he manage to end up in Afghanistan?.” Athena says.
“He was in the navy and he may have been 19 when he died but to us he looks in his 20's.” Bobby says.
“So he is forever stuck as a 19 year old.” Athena says.
“He's not going to age but he will watch the rest of us age.” Bobby says.
“Do we try and find out if he has a family so they at least know what's happened to him?.” Athena asks.
“We can't as that would risk exposure and it would make it harder for Buck and his new family to help people.” Bobby says.
Athena knows what Bobby says is true and she just thought that if that was one of her kids she would want to know but she needs to follow Buck's lead.
