Summary
No one ever promised Technoblade safety before.
Plenty of people have offered him plenty of things, but they were always presented as deals. Techno gives himself to them in exchange for something: renown, his life, an escape route off a dying planet. It all seems the same after enough time, and this latest server is no different. The revolution that was supposed to come of it never did.
Techno is tired and done with it all. Frankly, he doesn't even care if there's an age minimum for retiring. If he wants safety, he obviously has to make it for himself.

“You didn’t come for me?” the man’s suspicion dropped slightly and a bit of genuine confusion slipped past the man's guarded demeanor.
“No?” The more the blonde spoke the more confused Scar got “why? do you need rescuing, rapunzel?” he waggled his eyebrows and laughed awkwardly to hide his puzzlement
“What?” the suspicion fell completely and left the man looking dumbfounded.
There was a beat of silence, the four wings folded back behind him before the man spoke again. This time he sounded almost relieved if not doubtful
“you have no idea who I am, do you?” when Scar shook his head in confusionOr Scar breaks into an old temple, not knowing it was still inhabited by the god it was made for.

When his blurred vision came into focus, all he could see was Grian. The avian was sitting on top of him, pinning him to the floor with sharp, taloned fingers and glaring down at him with dangerous eyes, wings arched high above him, brushing the ceiling. A low, rumbling snarl was building in his friend's throat, and though he was looking at him — very intensely, he might add — he got the feeling he wasn’t actually seeing him.
Mumbo’s heart raced in his chest, in his throat, everywhere, as he stared back up at Grian with wide eyes, suddenly afraid to even blink. From behind, a broken shard of glass was placed delicately at his throat, and out of the corner of his eye he could see Scar, kneeling down next to him with an uncharacteristically blank look on his face. Neither of them seemed to register where they were, or who he was. A bead of sweat dripped from his hairline to his jaw.
He would respawn, if he died. But Grian and Scar were looking at him like they didn’t know that. Not right now, anyway.

One Hermit, however, can recall his past in immense detail and would really appreciate it if he could be one of the ones that forgets it at some point. Unfortunately, with the way life has kicked him down over and over again, it wasn't going to let him off that easily.
Eventually, he'll learn there's one key difference he has today compared to before: he's not alone.

Lady Katherine was nervous. She wanted to help Queen Pearl any way she could. But really, how could Pearl expect her to convince all the different emperors to meet once a month to maintain the delicate peace they were lucky enough to find themselves in? The Fae King hadn’t even left his empire since the Mesa War. He sent a gift to Pearl’s coronation, and that was the only reason Katherine and Pearl knew he was still alive. Then there was the matter of convincing Count Fwhip to come out of the Goblands and to the surface of the realm. She needed a plan; Fwhip wouldn’t want to be left out just because he was the only underground empire, so all she had to do was convince Fwhip that everyone else was definitely coming and he couldn’t miss it. Martyn would come if she provided cake, so she would mention tea and cakes in the invitation. If she addressed her invitation to Emperor Scar, he would definitely want to come to any party, and Emperor Scar would easily convince his husband, Emperor Grian, to be in attendance. So that just left King Scott; he was a fae and he wouldn’t go back on his word, so maybe if Katherine went to talk with him in person, she could get him to agree to attend.
