The therapist is not her. She’s not Rei. But his body responds anyway. Muscle memory, maybe. Or grief.
Rei’s praise is his hesitance’s poison, Rei’s smile is his fear’s undoing.
Enji smiles back awkwardly, half grimacing, and inhales before pushing again.

Because that had to be the problem. Izuku didn’t think he could do it, but he could. He could do anything, or not use any support item at all, and he’d still be twice the hero Katsuki would ever be.
Izuku’s eyes went soft and sympathetic. “I know, Kacchan.”

Katsuki was glad Izuku was fine, obviously. He'd just expected... something.
But expectations don't mean much in the aftermath of the war, and maybe heroism doesn't mean much, either.
