Summary

He has only one at a time, but it often feels like he carries every single one on his back, into eternity. It gets a little heavier with each dead girl he carries, each baby a boulder in his arms.
Luce is heavy, too, when he carries her into the Village of Sky. A dead weight, tired and grumpy and not at all happy he will leave her here. He can see it in her eyes.
