    Adam frowns, expression one of almost childish displeasure. “Because you need help with computers,” he repeats. “Security systems. They all speak the same language, Nigel, it doesn’t matter what the system is, I can talk to it. Can you talk to it?” Nigel starts to answer, perhaps just a profanity to fill the air and return the room to a semblance of its former displeased normalcy, but the kid interrupts him. “No, otherwise you wouldn’t need me to do that for you.”

    Nigel does not need another man on his team for this heist. He doesn't fucking need one. And he certainly doesn't need Adam fucking Raki, but there he fucking is.

    Adam opens his eyes one day to find a stranger sitting by his bedside. The man wore a fitted all-black suit with no tie and had a tattoo of a pinup girl on the side of his neck. Ash blond hair curled at his nape and parted to one side across his forehead in an artfully dishevelled way. His shoulders were broad, and he completely filled the chair he sat in with his leg crossed knee-over-knee.

    Adam had never seen such a striking individual in his life. His eyes open and flick to the man's nose (slightly bent at the bridge with a faint scar) and mouth (full lips that curled upwards at the edges). A smile slowly blooms on the stranger’s face.

    “Hello, gorgeous.”

    Nigel is feeling sorry for himself in New York after the whole Charlie Countryman incident. Adam never went to California after Beth dumped him. Some things are just meant to happen.

    Edit-In this story, there is mention of the “gypsy curse” and negative racist dialogue in regard to the Roma. While this is canon for the characters in the movie, this author do not condone this sort of behavior. Also, don’t dress up as a “gypsy” for Halloween. That’s some racist, cultural appropriation bullshit. You’re better than that. Cut two holes in an old sheet, and go as a classic ghost.
