Martin goes after Jon at the panopticon and finds that he's already taken out Elias. They fight, Martin tells Jon that the tower is falling, and Martin tries to rescue Jon only for it to fail. Then as in canon he prepares to kill him... and realizes technically there's another way. (Eye trauma, warning warning - if you want to avoid it, stop reading the first chapter after the line that just says 'wait')
When they wake up somewhere else, they realize
1. They're both bats
2. Jon is Blind
3. Jon is still connected to the Beholding though through echolocation (though bats call it the Screech)
4. They apparently have a little child. A bat child.Later they realize that they ended up here because they took the place of their alternate-reality selves who just happened to both perish that night during a US firework fourth of July display.
