Summary
It's time for yet another hike for supplies to a nearby village, and Mumbo, now joined by Grian and Scar, make the long trek over. Of course, with just the three of them, shenanigans ensue nearly immediately, and anything that can go wrong, will go wrong. Hopefully, nothing too awful happens, as Scar doesn't know Mumbo's secretly a human, and no one in the village can know that Scar and Grian are hybrids.

I woke up. My whole body ached. Everything ached. My fists hurt, so, so much. I peered down at them. Bruising covered my knuckles and overlapped the skin, a putrid stench hitting my nose. A stench that made my eyes follow it, and bile followed up my throat. Wooden boxes were smashed, scarlet blood coaxing both his hands and the floor, saliva alongside the wooden floor. He screamed before he could process the noise, his mouth sore and scratchy out of disuse for a couple hours, and there laid Scar Goodtimes.
In the city were three detectives, Grian Minecraft, Pearl Moon and Gemini Taylor. One strange crime scene leads to a whole bunch of twisted events and death, each one following after Grian loses his conscience. But what happens when too much blood coaxes your hands, and the murderer is nowhere to be found, your own shadow.

Keeping both wings close to his back, Grian scans the surrounding buildings for anything familiar. Storm gales had tossed him around like an autumn leaf. Sheets of rain reduce visibility to nothing. He has no idea where he ended up. Hard to judge the leap to the next building when he can barely see the next building. He presses on. He has to recognize something eventually. No matter that the city spans more area that Grian cares to know.
His talons slip on wet roof in landing his next leap, costing him his footing to tumble him hard into the cramped stairwell house of the building he's on, body screaming in pain where it's not numb from the cold.

Undetermined time later, a soft ding alerts Grian to the nearby elevator door sliding open. Warm light spills into the hall."Ari?" Comes a high, chattery voice, underlaid with cackling laughter.
A shock through Grian's whole body as the realization of just why that door was so familiar bodies him.

Circuses were supposed to be magical, a place of whimsy and wonder, somewhere where everything seemed… possible. They weren’t supposed to be depressing, soul-sucking, and evil.
