Summary
Turns out Hermann was the touchy-feely kind of drunk.
Newton had never seen Hermann so much as tipsy before, impressions and fragments of memories picked up through the drift notwithstanding. That had not prepared him for how clingy Hermann became once his blood alcohol level rose.
It was kind of cute.

Summary
Newton knew most people in the Shatterdome thought he was crazy. He knew he was just a teeny tiny bit unhinged—but he was pretty sure that he hadn’t been the “hallucinations” kind of crazy, at least not until his solo-drift. Since then, he’d been seeing random colours everywhere.
Not everywhere, exactly. Only where there were numbers or letters—which was almost everywhere, but only almost. The colours weren’t exactly random, either. Each letter and every single-digit number corresponded to a specific colour and those didn’t change but were consistent.
Stand-alone. Each entry is its own story, no interconnection except for the theme: Repercussions from Newton’s solo-drift

Summary
What was happening to him? He had never felt this way before, like the world around him was too much to withstand, like there was too much sensory input for him to process, too much information raining down on him from everywhere, his ears, his eyes, his skin—
A small voice of reason reminded Hermann that while he had never felt like this before, he had experienced something similar when he drifted with Newton and was plunged into Newton’s memories.
Panic attack.
Sensory overload.

Summary
"Hermann, if you are hearing this, I am hopefully sharing the fate of Han Solo. Only less carbonite and more Scrat the sabre-tooth squirrel at the end of the first movie. Or Dante’s Cocytus? Okay. Let me try this again."
When Newton does not show up to his lunch date with Hermann, Hermann discovers that Newton left him another message on his recorder. A message about 'friends' that is littered with too many references and metaphors for Hermann to make sense of. But one thing is clear: He has to figure out its true meaning because if he does not, Newton's life is in danger and that by Newton's own hands.

Summary
After operation pitfall, the survivors are left with ghosts, injuries, and the feeling that the other shoe has yet to drop. When the three remaining pilots begin exhibiting signs of stress due to a lack of drift, everyone has to come to terms that they still don't know the full extent of the effects Drifting has on the human brain.
Excerpt from Chapter 1:
They could never have anticipated how fast things would devolve. At first it was just a sim; the semblance of a routine for the final three Jaeger pilots who were so used to drifting with increasing frequency. No one could have imagined the need it would create in the absence of the drift. The empty feeling that left the three of them on edge and the shrinks furiously scribbling in their notes, talking in hushed voices over their drinks while the pilots continued to grow more agitated. Trying to chase after a high they could no longer get. It was only after the third time in one day that Chuck had baited Raleigh into a fight, not a sparring match, but a full on brawl that ended up with flipped mess tables and bruises, that someone suggested the lack of a drift was the problem.

Summary
When Raleigh wakes up in medical, he assumes he's just been fished out of the ocean and it's directly after the Pitfall mission.
The truth is, he sustained an injury causing memory loss, and is completely missing 6 months of his life.
Raleigh figures things could be worse, he's told his memories will come back eventually, but what's strange is Chuck Hansen's behavior and the way everyone seems to expect the two of them to be attached at the hip.
There's no way Chuck is...pining after him, right?
(Wrong.)

Summary
Raleigh shifted next to her, his hands on his hips as he bit his lip. He sucked his teeth, “Um…yeah. How did you get in this mess again?”
The baby gave a little gurgle in her carrier. “I might have just been agreeing to get the conversation over with…” Mako let the silence carry.
The blonde pilot hummed, and the two of them continued to stare.
The little girl smiled at them, gummy and drooling as she played with her sock-covered foot. Mako unbuckled her, grumbling at the many latches containing the child, and picked her up. She held her out, stiff-armed, as she had never been around many babies before. Never actually. She was much better with....older individuals.
“Raleigh,” she paused, “What do we do with a baby?”

Summary
Raleigh only has only ever called him baby during sex.
Chuck's fine with this, they're both adults, dammit, they don't need to be fawning all over each other in public and regardless, he can't really see himself acting like a cutesy lovesick schoolgirl either. He's sure Raleigh feels the same way. Then Raleigh calls him baby in the middle of the mess hall during peak hours. Things go downhill from there.

Summary
There are nights when no one dreams, or dreams are small and life-sized: espresso grounds and science books, the tenure track, or people; broken strings and shipwrecked boats, dishabille, or seagulls.
A story of cognitive dissonance and emotional devotion. Drs. Geiszler and Gottlieb deal with the complexities of the post-drift psychological state in a fine-ass, mature blaze of physics puns, banter, poorly prepared meals, questionable wardrobe choices, and, of course, science.

Summary
Seven days after the breach closes, Newt celebrates his 35th birthday. That would cool and great, actually, if he could figure out what the hell he's supposed to do with the day, or his life, or his stupid crush on his lab partner.
Or: Newt experiences the mortifying ordeal of wanting things and, even worse, asking for them.

Summary
“Hermann,” he exhales softly, as the other man settles down on the shower chair beside him. When Hermann had offered his quarters as a place to wash up before a long, well deserved rest, it seemed foolish to say no. But he’s not entirely sure how they’ve both ended up completely stripped down in the shower which, while large, is frankly on the small side for two men who do not know each other intimately. Well, do not know each other’s bodies intimately. They’ve been in each other’s heads now, after all.
