After the events of Good Things Come.Astarion and Tav have solidified their roles in the Underdark with the other Spawn, as well as in Faerun. They realize there is still much more they can do to stop another Vampire lord, and help another of their Companions in the process.

Except Tav beat Astarion there and reached him first, and a wet SMACK sounded as Astarion's chest collided with her shoulder blades where she stood solidly between them.
For a moment, Astarion only saw red.
For a moment, Astarion heard nothing but the roaring, rushing sounds in his adept ears - that of the rolling sea, and Tav's blood catapulting through her arteries with her own anger.
Astarion's eyes focused and traced her form and up her extended arm, his lip twitching with the beginning of a snarl at the action that had been denied him, but the scent of Gale's blood hit his nose then. The odor was strong despite the pervading smell of salt in the surf that lapped along the shore at their feet.

Baldur's Gate is rebuilding, the companions are drifting back to their own lives, and Astarion is left with a victory he can't stand in the sunlight to enjoy. Elowen chooses not to move on. Instead, she walks the road with him as another traveling companion, sharing tents, watch shifts, and late-night honesty.
What follows isn't a grand prophetic quest, but a quieter, stubborn one: Elowen begins chasing half-whispers and forgotten lore about why the sun burns a vampire spawn who refused ascension. Ruins, odd priests, strange books, wrong questions in the wrong temples—little threads she calls "research" and he calls "madness," even as he continues to follow her lead.
Afterdawn is the stretch of road where nothing huge seems to happen from the outside: campfires, small jobs, detours, close calls, and two people circling something they have no words for yet. Underneath, Elowen is pulling on something old and bright and dangerous.
Eventually the thread catches and by the end, the road looks nothing like it did at the start.

The bite was just a nip, a careful insertion of fangs that Halsin was used to. The quick, cold pain was no stranger, and as Astarion was careful, it was nothing significant. Honestly, had received worse bites from Scratch on accident than this. He felt Astarion shiver as his Heart slightly removed his fangs to start lapping at the welling blood. It was an odd thing, feeling one’s blood leave their body, but to Halsin, it brought him comfort in moments like this.
By the stars, how Halsin enjoyed this. This exchanged warmth, and not just in the physical sense. In this room, it was just them, only them.

They have been together for a bit of time and have settled into a routine. Ascended Astarion controls much of Baldur's Gate 3 and Tav is as defiant and chaotic as ever.

Astarion looks regal and commanding as ever. I smirk seductively raising my chin up to him in acknowledgment, as he stands and calls to me across the hall, “Ah there you are! My beautiful consort. Come, join me.”
I step quickly closing the distance between us, “Hello my love, I have dispatched of the problem. We will be pickier when choosing handmaidens in the future.”
“Of course, my treasure. Whatever you desire.” He purrs.
The servant spawn standing behind Astarion’s throne shift nervously, glancing quickly at each other. I make my way to the chair beside his, but he stops me, and grabs my wrist. Then pulls me in for a deep kiss, in front of the merchant who flushes and looks at his shoes. Astarion’s hands slide down to my rear and he gives me a squeeze in my semi-sheer revealing dress.

Astarion shakily looked over to Halsin and smiled at him with red teeth. Gods above, this was the one time Halsin hated to see blood in his mouth like that. It was not another’s, it was Astarion’s. Knowing the battle upcoming today, they both hunted last night and filled themselves well—Halsin with meat and Astarion with blood. Both knew their strength would be needed. Halsin remembered how Astarion appeared the previous night and this morning: clean, sharp, and cheeks, ears, and fingertips a healthy hue thanks to his meal. Now, looking at him, his heart ached. Astarion was always pale, but even now, streaked with dark ash and brown dirt, he looked gray. A ghostly pallor with filth streaked on his body. If the man could see himself, Halsin knew he would despise his appearance and complain loudly the whole time until they reached their home.
