Catherine's continent is proving too small for her ambitions. The first Russian caravel out of Moscow has crossed the ocean and made contact with a faraway empire to the west. When she decides to see Aztec lands with her own eyes and embarks on a diplomatic mission to Tenochtitlan, she discovers a world where gods demand blood and empires rise on it. As she brings that fire back eastwards, it may forever change Russia - and herself.
A dramatic retelling of a Sid Meier's Civilization V campaign, told as a sordid tale of two warmongering leaders and their toxic romance, interspersed with lots of diplomacy, cultural exchange all across the world, kink, and the horrors of war.

The world realizes too late that the isolationist and fiercely territorial Aztec Empire has not been dormant - merely building its strength. The Aztec Empire realizes too late that its rivals have fallen far, far behind - but the rising of the sun cannot be stopped.
(A dramatic retelling of the tail end of a Civ V game I really let myself indulge in! I was surprised by a few choices the bot players made, and felt it fitting to honor that surprise with some narrative juice.)
