Summary
Love for Wemmbu wasn't temporary per se, you could say it's a lifetime choice, something sacred. It's something you have to decide on carefully, that's why he doesn't fall Inlove easily. Yes, he falls for those foreign feelings, but Wemmbu knew it was just a passing feeling, something to discard in the long run.
But if Wemmbu does fall inlove–he knows the extent of loving for life. In hindsight, Wemmbu was also a pretty pragmatic person, he's familiar of the extent and definition of that feeling and yet he stubbornly won't be against it, He will still love Flame with a mostly heavy heart–it was all he knew to feel anyways. But does that mean that his feelings for Sam from 3rd grade and Jaden from 2nd grade were fake? No, of course not.
As said before, Wemmbu was a pretty pragmatic person, he may have loved Flame but he knew to open his heart to new love because he wanted a relationship that he can fully claim and yell as his. So before Wemmbu commits to a relationship with someone, Flame will always have a spot that's just for him. And has been–for years.
Or 5 times Wemmbu is almost convinced he should move on from Flame and pursue Jaden and one time he did–almost.
