Kevin sat curled in a corner, skin feeling tight as saltwater dried on his body. His head was bent slightly forward, causing a painful ache in his neck, though he hadn’t the energy to straighten up. His back touched the hard wall while his eyes followed the figure in the kitchen. All red, white, blue and gold. All light eyes and soft blonde hair, with lips that curled in displeasure and a firmly set jaw.
A rewrite of The Deep’s death scene in which Homelander’s intrinsic need for true devotion causes him to swoop in at the last minute and rescue him!

As the kingdom falls into ruin, the liver king must be found and claim his throne back from…either the liver jester or knight. We don’t know yet. Carefully, he steps closer to the railing, peeking over the side.
Something splashes above water, briefly.
A fin? A tentacle?
He takes a few more steps forward; rests a paw against the rail.
Curiously, he leans forward more and more.
He sees… red eyes?
