It’s been a few days since The Favorite Character Awards.
Pomni has been through a number of bizarre things during her time in the circus. Candy truck chases, angel head horrors, minimum wage labor, athletic events, gun-filled battle royales. But none of these come close to what she witnesses on a seemingly innocent day full of beach-filled fun: Caine attempting to take his own life.
After managing to stop him, Pomni takes it upon herself (and is borderline forced to by Bubble) to help keep Caine’s mental state intact by engaging in improvised therapy sessions with him. After all, if Caine died, what would happen to the circus? And to the humans that lived within it? This was her only concern at first. But as Caine opens up to her more through these sessions, she realizes just how much the AI is hurting and how long he has been harboring these negative emotions.
Turns out Caine needs more help than she thought.
He's just as trapped in this game as they are. And worse.

The AI gets therapy! This fic is honestly really heartwarming, it's a great read for a bad day. Caine's mental health struggles are captured really well, not downplayed, and given room to breathe. I do envy his ability to get better so fast though. Pros of being a computer fsdgahjk how can I do that

Ford doesn't talk about his years in the portal. It's just something he doesn't like to think about, much less recount to other people. That doesn't stop his family from asking. It also doesn't stop him from snapping and recounting the worst few years of his life. Captured at a checkpoint and sold to the highest bidder, Ford is forced into the life of (un)professional fighter. His only buffer against the word is the Deity that sponsors him. Thinking he left that life alone, it's all the more painful when it finally catches back up to him.

Summary
Mabel and Dipper have a half brother that they haven't seen in five years. His name is Will (no relation to the famous Bill). His dad was an asshole, and for a while, Will was an asshole too. Now, his mom and the Pines men are helping him get back on his feet -- away from the twins.
Will is a twenty-year-old former drug addict and felon. He's staying at the Mystery Shack for a while. He has almost no interest in the Falls or its mysteries - those woods are full of bugs and mud. He's not a fan of Dipper's reputation.
Ford is working through about sixty years of emotional trauma with all the subtlety and tact he usually uses when solving problems. Living with a carbon copy of his worst high school bullies is definitely influencing this process.
Stanley just got over being an irresponsible grunkle and then losing all of his autobiographical memories. Now he's the only person in the house who actually learned how to manage explosive anger instead of getting sent to jail, waging war on interdimensional tyrants, or both.
Soos is the new Mister Mystery and he is owning it!
The twins have no idea any of this is happening.
Bill Cipher is as of yet poorly explained.
