or: Server firewalls are quite literal. Xelqua knows this as a former Watcher but hasn't had firsthand experience with it until now. He's covered in burns. Also, his name isn’t Grian, its Xelqua. Why does this mustached guy they keep calling him that??

Tommy had magic.
Tommy had magic and it was going to be the death of him.
Maybe, if he had been born in a kingdom more accepting of the power that coursed through his veins, people would celebrate it. Cheer at the vines curling at his fingertips. Clap for the golden light that rushed forward to heal his injuries. They would celebrate him, Prince Theseus, second-in-line to the throne.
But he was not born in such a kingdom.
aka Tommy is a Magic Man and the crown doesn't like that. Benchtrio to the rescue (eventually)

Tommy grumbled under his breath, rubbing at his shoulder. It didn’t make sense, he checked everywhere, he even made sure there wasn't anything that could hurt him and here he was! It couldn’t be an allergic reaction to his shirt either-- he had been wearing the same one for weeks now. And suddenly, he’s got a rash.
