Nobody expected for an inanimate object to come to life, least of all the object.
A moment ago you didn’t exist. Your only purpose was to provide recorded entertainment for any who tuned in, making sure their boredoms were cured and satisfaction was met. You’d turn on, and then off. Volume up, then volume down. Change the channel, then change it again. A simple purpose.
So when the TV picked himself up from the floor, a black liquid-like smoke rising from the thin vents on either side of his slightly misshapen cubic head, one could imagine his surprise to see he was…standing. And watching. And feeling. And most of all…

Summary
Part machine, part bug, all TV-riffic talent. Such were the three ingredients that made Mr. Ant Tenna the marvelous piece of work that he was.
Granted, he tended to keep the bug part of that equation on the down-low. Bugs were a niche interest. Most viewers got a bit squicked out and put off when the host sprouted a second pair of arms, or when his smile housed a pair of twitchy mandibles. He could get away with his antennas, his namesakes, because they were part of the brand, but there were times where even that was pushing it.
He had Kris, as was the case with many facets of his being, to thank for his insectoid traits. The kid was a fan of creepy crawlies. But when it came down to it, the ratings didn’t lie. So he kept those bits of him tucked away.
It was fine, really.
No skin off this cathode’s chassis.

Tenna goes from being in the nest to becoming the nest.

Perhaps this was a good sign. A step in the right direction and away from his downwards spiral of uuuggghhhh. Because the way Mettaton saw it, he now had one of two options.
One: retreat to the lukewarm comforts of a lumpy couch until he became one with the cushions and waited until the inevitable heat death of the universe collapsed onto him to finally end the soul-crushing boredom.
Or two: watch whatever the hell was on his newly acquired TV.
Alone and bored to death, Mettaton looks for a way to pass the time while the Internet is down. Good news, he does. Bad news... uh, it’s totally normal to want to kiss your recently acquired TV, right? (asking for a friend, haha...)

Summary
He begins to sing, and the whole room is quiet. The only thing anyone could pay attention to was the hypnotizing sound of Mettaton’s voice as he sang. He knew every word, every note, every miniscule bit of emotion in the song. His passion was so clear and bright and beautiful that you could swear there was a sort of light radiating off of him.
Tenna stands in the wing to stage right, his mouth slightly agape as he stands in utter awe at his performance. He fidgets with his tie as he unfortunately feels himself fall even deeper in love than he already had been.
