Tasked with managing the dead for a superstitious town that despises him, Mydei has to take on all the roles of a mortician, coroner and even gravedigger. Mydei believes he is protecting his assistant from the townsfolk and the nature of the profession, completely unaware that Phainon is a fae he unknowingly bound himself to many years ago.

Summary
Mydei, as occupied as he is as ruler of the Underworld, would never have foreseen that being associated with a flower—namely, the narcissus—would bring him so much trouble.
Said trouble, unfortunately, came in the form of a newly ascended hero-turned-god, whose favourite pastime seemed to be shirking his duties, and annoying Mydei.
"Admirers," Mydei thought derisively.
OR, an AU (very loosely) based off of the Hades & Persephone myth. (Or rather, should I say Persephone x Hades, in this case?)

“I can't believe you snuck out again. I only just returned and suddenly I'm hearing whispers everywhere in the castle that you've disappeared from your chambers!”
“Quiet,” he slaps a hand over her mouth, looking around in alarm. He quickly snatches it back when she licks it. Urgh. She always did this. “Khaslana has sharp ears.”
Cipher huffs, stretching until she's leaning against him, and Mydei has to brace a hand on the ground to keep his balance. “Tsk tsk. This isn't the way to get the attention of someone you fancy, you know! Especially someone at least six years older than you are!”

mydeimos is the crown prince of castrum kremnos. he’s nearly twenty-one, about to be crowned king, and his life is falling apart at the seams. his own father loathes him, their opposing ideals and the threat of war driving them even further apart.
khaslana is his knight who swore to protect him. he’s competent, handsome, and also years older than he is. mydei just might be in love with him.
everything is fine. except it isn’t.

Summary
Phainon sighs. She sounds awestruck, almost disbelieving.
“I don’t think I’ll ever get tired of hearing that,” she says, hiding a little giggle with a kiss to Mydei’s sternum. “I get to be your wife a full three weeks before I thought I would.”
Mydei’s chest seizes and she feels herself flush. She’d expected Phianon’s giddy acceptance of their Kremnoan marriage to be calming, comforting, but instead the words are entirely too much to handle. For her to be so excited about her status as wife makes Mydei go light headed; she feels like her heart is swelling, growing too big for her ribs and crowding out her lungs. Phainon is her wife. They’re really married.

As Phainon frets over how to recreate an Elysian wedding, it comes time for Mydei to finally admit that in the eyes of Kremnoan tradition, the two of them have already been married for several years. After the initial shock wears off, Phainon decides there is only one way to make it up to her wife that they never got a true wedding night.
