I recently had an epiphany. I've always been a writer, but I always thought I couldn't write fiction. Recently, something shifted in my head, and I realised that my daydreams about random people and events ARE fiction. That is what they are. It's just fiction. All fiction is fan fiction, and my fiction is fan fiction, even if any resemblance to any real or fictional person, living or dead, ends up looking remote as well as purely coincidental.

I'm revelling in the total creative freedom I see here; the freedom to write something you want to write, that other people want to read, and to be honest about how humans actually work, free from the constraints of profit and publication.

I think I might mess about with some constraints of form. That might be fun.
