“Harry?” she whispered.
“Yeah?” he asked in the same tone.
“What did you do to Snape?”
“I don’t know, Hermione, honestly, no clue.” He ran his hand through his hair, his voice gaining some normalcy. “I didn’t even understand what happened. One moment he was belittling me as usual and the next I saw what I did,” he ended with utter disbelief in his voice. “What did I call him? Why did I call him that?”
“I think you called him nuts,” said Ron.

Summary
Hermione didn’t usually cry when Professor Snape criticised her work. She’d hoped she’d be able to avoid being so humiliated in public but– here she was. On her knees in front of him, tears streaming down her face as she dropped so far down, into her own mind, into a place that was so quiet and safe, she didn’t know if she would be able to find her way back.
