Summary
There was a lot that Klaus didn't understand—he wouldn't be humble or play pretend and say that he knew all the secrets of the universe.
But there were things he did understand, albeit small, but still things.
He knew that Ben was a ghost; he didn't really understand the how or why, but Ben was as present as any of the others, so it must mean he existed.
He knew that being an addict was weak, selfish, a burden to those around him, all the buzz words group therapists shoved down his throat to convince him to quit.
He knew that his family disliked him, loathed the fact that he was still a ghost-seeing junkie, a perpetual stain on their already damaged academy name.
But what he really knew, cemented into his brain, carved into the very marrow of his bones, was that he was not long for this world.
Klaus just wasn't meant to be.
Or, an AU where Klaus causes the apocalypse with a buildup all the way from his childhood. The original story ends at chapter twenty-two; the last four will be fun, fluffy additions.
