"What… happened to the team? Where's everybody?" he croaked, fighting to keep his eyes open and locked on Enjin's face.
The man closed his eyes. Zanka had never seen him look like he didn't have control of a situation before, always so confident, but right now, his face creased with a somber expression. It wasn't right. An expression like that, twisted by grief and worry, didn't belong on a face like Enjin's.
"They didn't make it. It's just us, kid."
Things go sideways on a long-range mission deep into the polluted zone. As the only survivors, Enjin and Zanka have to find a way to get home, before their limited resources run out.

Zanka doesn't answer. He turns his face to meet Enjin's, yanks him in by his jacket, and kisses him.
It's good, so much better than any of Zanka's daydreams or late night masturbation fantasies. Enjin's mouth is soft and hot against his own, his hands coming up to cradle Zanka's face, twist into his hair. He can feel everything, every nerve ending on fire, and he's going to have to thank Riyo for this somehow when he's sober.
