So to begin with, here's a big ol' foreword/disclaimer. and the list of new students to cap things off. (these students will not be the only characters from their series who will be appearing in this story, not even close.)
So... you’ve read the tags... And your first thought is probably: “Holy shit that’s a lot of characters.... or “holy shit, that makes the entire MCU look like a sitcom bottle episode.” Or something to that effect.
Yeah... I’m probably biting off more than I can chew with this one, but fuck it I’ve always wanted to see a big shonen crossover (jesus, I actually bought Jump Force for Christ sake.) So now I’m just biting the bullet Thanos style and “doing it myself”
I’ve seen a lot of really great crossovers recently which throw characters into the MHA world, such as Grilledsquid’s excellent “I’ll Move Mountains” (Toph in MHA) and more recently UNOLOVRS’ “Frog in a Well” (Nobara and Megumi in MHA) and was inspired to take the completely inadvisable, stupidly overly ambitious next step…
I debated whether to use MHA or One Piece as the base setting (the latter having the series essentially holding their own islands and joining the adventure)
but decided instead to use MHA, because its various Hero schools fill the same objective without having to contrive the rapid recruitments from what would need to be a super close set of islands,
MHA makes for the most interesting sociology to throw these characters into as well.
Your second thought is probably “well I like THIS Show/manga, and I like THIS one too, but I don’t know these ones that well, so I don’t know how much I’ll be able to understand this story or appreciate it”
To that, I ask you to please at least give it a go anyway, I’m going to essentially be heavily rewriting character’s histories to fit these vaguely square pegs into a more...
oblong-ish hole, while retaining and adapting key elements, meaning I’ll be covering back-stories, new motivations etc. Almost like I’m just introducing characters and fleshing out characters that would be joining this narrative and belong in this narrative,
so a lack of familiarity hopefully won’t be an issue. At least that’s the intent, I’m shoving 24 major protagonists, a dozen or so new villains, and loads of other bit-part characters in, it’ll be a lot to juggle,
I’m going to give it my best effort but I’ll probably fuck up in places, I really like ALL the characters I’m introducing, but I absolutely LOVE some of them, and i’lll probably end up picking favourites in the long-haul.
Another thing I’ll be doing is kind of combining the tone of these series, or more, escalating it to be closer to that of the darkest of these shows
(Cough*Shibuya/Chimera* Cough)
I will put these characters through some weighty shit, some will get scars, some may die. (I have a few key deaths planned, but they’re not set in stone, I’ll see how I feel about these trajectories as I get there) If you have issues with seeing the somewhat fluffier characters of ATLA and MHA be put through the shit that Tanjiro, Gon and Itadori put up with, or seeing Ichigo and Rukia in a world where having 50% of your body mass blasted into oblivion is actually lethal, or seeing Gohan, Videl and Piccolo in a world where death actually means something, this may not be the story for you.
With that being said, I’m not interested in edgy violence for its own sake, but more as a mark of consequence and/or subsequent survival in a story centred around conflict. I’ve omitted some characters that might seem odd, but generally did so with a reason, for instance, while Sasuke Uchiha is going to exist in this story, he isn’t one of the exchange students from this new school “THT”, because he made the grade for the more prestigious Shiketsu, and Naruto and Shikamaru didn’t. Sakura Haruno is omitted because without a Sasuke present I basically don’t have a character to work with. (I’m kidding (mostly))
I just felt Shikamaru and Hinata offered a better compliment but didn’t want to overload this class with Naruto characters) For one more glaring example. Aang isn’t in the hero course, Because in a world where he wasn’t the only one who could fulfil a fighting role, he wouldn’t choose a career built around fighting.
I’ve changed some small character details, such as last names, some, like Beifong and Son, fit as foreign names to Japan (China in both these cases) for others I’ve changed their names to slightly better fit real-world nations, Zoldyck becoming Zoldic, Freecs becoming Furikuso etc. For some I’ve changed their second name entirely, for instance “Satan” and “Monkey” becoming Akumasa (devil with an extra syllable) and “Saruyama” (Mount Monkey) all in service of making the world gel together a little bit better.
There’s one character who you’ll see in the student list with a surprise second name, I’m curious to see if anyone spots it and figures the reason that i’ll explain in backstory.
If you want me to incorporate another character from one of these series, I can find a way to do that, though it may be a bit part, if you want me to add another series and throw in a whole set of potential cast members, I probably won’t, sorry, i’m willing to accommodate to a degree, but I’m juggling a fair bit to begin with.
Finally: Throw what you know about characters power levels out of the window to an extent, I mean, for Christ sake guys, Son Gohan is one of the new students... if we’re keeping them all as is, then he’s already like measurably thousands of times stronger than All Might. Which would make for a pretty boring story. That pretty much covers it...
