Chapter Text
4/15/2011
Shadow Yosuke laughs. “Hahaha! Why are you so panicked? I thought I was just spouting bullshit! Or Maybe I do know everything you’re thinking about! For example, you think that boy is hot!” He points at Yu, from behind Yosuke.
Yosuke’s eyes widened and he blushed before turning to see that Yu was facing a few shadows by himself
Then later Yosuke watched as the Shadow walked over to where Yu was, his back was turned as he was fighting some smaller shadows, “Who are you?! No, what are you?!”
Shadow Yosuke chuckled and looked back, “I already told you; I am you... Your true self There is nothing I don't know about you.” He then moved quickly and pinned Yu to the ground and brought his lips to Yu’s. Yu started kissing back. Yosuke pulled his other self off and then they tumbled out of sight, only for Yosuke to come back alone.
“I knew they weren't lying, but I was so ashamed of myself that I didn’t want to believe it. I am him and he is me,” Yosuke said. “Also, can we both agree not to tell anyone what happened here?” Yu blushed as he nodded “Yeah, sure, but I did enjoy that kiss.” Yosuke's eyes widened and he mumbled, “let's get going.” They left the store not seeing the three women watching them.
“The two have been found; only they would face their shadows without a fight. The new vampire and ̶t̶h̶e̶ ̶g̶o̶d̶ ̶i̶n̶ ̶t̶r̶a̶i̶n̶i̶n̶g̶.”
After leaving the TV world.
Chie was crying on the ground. Before throwing what was left of the rope back at Yosuke. “The nerve of you two! I hate you, you guys are the worst.”
She then ran off. Yosuke looked down, “Maybe we did go a little too far… Let's apologize tomorrow.”
Yu nodded. “I agree. So, what are you going to do now?”
Yosuke blushed, “I’m going home and soak in the tub for a while and then get some sleep. I think you should do the same.”
Yu nodded. “Okay, see you tomorrow Yosuke-kun.”
Yosuke nodded, “Same.”
After going out with his umbrella, he sees Yukiko, who was sitting at a picnic table set inside a gazebo.
“Oh! Hello, Yu.”
“Hey Yukiko.” Yu said as he came up to the gazebo. They talked about school and Chie for a while as the storm started to pass by.
After Yukiko left, Yu was walking home when someone grabbed him and pulled him into the shrine.
Yu struggled as he dropped his umbrella, the rain hit his face as the person started whispering in his ear. “Relax Yu, I am giving you a chance; the same one I was given.”
How does this guy know my name? Yu questioned before he gasped as he felt a sharp pain in his neck. He heard a strange slurping sound and his eyes closed subconsciously, not seeing lightning strike close by, half showing Izanagi. He moves to attack the guy only to be stopped by Messiah who reaches out to Izanagi and calms him down. Izanagi melts back into Yu's soul, to sleep until he is needed once more. Yu feels the other man pull away, holding him gently; he can’t find the strength to even open his eyes, when did they close? He wonders before he feels skin against his lips as they are gently parted. The second the blood hits his tongue, he feels like his body ceases to be numb. All he feels is need, he needs what the stranger is offering. Yu sucks at the wound fiercely, taking what’s right in front of him. Yu whines as the source is removed and feels a wave of exhaustion overcome him.
Minato sighed and was about to leave with Yu, when Ryoji appeared from the shadows with Inari close behind him. “What happened here?” Inari asked, looking at Minato.
Minato smiled. “Ryoji-koi. You’re back early.”
Ryoji looked at his mate with a slight smile, but then noticed Yu’s body. “You didn’t,” he looked at Minato flatly.
Minato looks guilty. “You were supposed to watch him, not this!” Ryoji yells as both Inari and Minato winced at the sound.
“Did anyone besides Inari see you?”
Minato shakes his head after thinking a bit. “I don’t believe so.”
“That’s something,” Ryoji grouses. “Come on, let’s put him in the spare room we have for crashers.”
Minato smiled a little but Ryoji shot him a glare. “You’ll stay in the same room as your new childe as punishment.”
4/16/2011
Yu wakes up some time later, the room is dark and he’s not sure what time it is. That was when the tv came on. it had to be Midnight, he thought he would see something sad again but it was different; this time a boy with black hair was there fighting quickly and gracefully.
Yu looked entranced as the Midnight Channel came to an end for the night. He wants to know who the boy is and why he feels drawn to him. His stomach cramped, and he looked confused; what's going on?
Yu then feels that his throat is bone dry, he whines in distress and confusion. A hand touches his hair, soothing him as a cup is held up to his lips. He drinks greedily, anything to get rid of the cramps in his stomach and the dryness of his throat.
The drink tasted like coffee and something sweet but he couldn’t tell what that sweetness was. The person who was there chuckled softly, “calm down young one, there is plenty enough for you to have later.”
Yu whined softly as he finished up the cup, “What happened and who are you?”
“My name is Arisato Minato and I am a vampire, as are you now.”
"A vampire? But they're myths…" For some reason he wanted to say sire, but held back, unknowing why.
“They were at first until last year, when I was turned,” Minato explained.
Yu looked confused, but docile, and wondered if he could have some more to drink.
Minato laughs, and leaves to go refill the cup. Yu looked abashed, he must have said that out loud.
A few minutes later, Minato comes back in with a warm mug and hands it to Yu. "Thank you… Sire."
Yu looked at him after taking a sip, “my uncle must be worried about me."
Minato nodded. "I had my roommate, Ryoji call him.”
“You told him I was now this?” Yu looked shocked and upset.
Minato looked at him. “No. He doesn’t know that. He thinks you have an internship with the Kirijo group.”
"Wait… What? The Kirijo group?! The biggest KK in the country!?!" Yu looks stunned, even he knows about them and the fact that they eventually took over their parent company, though what they do is a mystery.
“Yes. They have a secret organization known as the Shadow Operatives; we keep an eye out for shadow and Persona-related activities. We also heard about the murders, I was tasked to come here with Ryoji because he can also sense Personas and awakenings.”
Yu looked at him, “You know about the Midnight Channel?”
“Is that what they’re calling it now? I knew it as the Dark Hour.” Minato muses to Yu’s confusion. “But it seems different from what I got used to.”
Yu looked down, remembering what happened earlier and in the TV world. Minato checks the time, “you have school today, so try to sleep some more. I’ll wake you up, and give you some basic rules that a vampire needs to know.”
Yu finished up his second cup of blood laced coffee and went to sleep. Minato took the mug and went back to wash it, but then saw Ryoji, who looked slightly content.
“What’s got you so pleased?” Minato asked after getting some blood for himself.
“You are off the hook, slightly. My sisters called and told me that he was supposed to be turned early. However, I am letting you know that it doesn't mean that Mitsuru will let you off.”
Minato groans softly, not wanting to deal with Mitsuru's anger. “Can you call her instead, Ryoji-koi?”
Ryoji shook his head no, “I’m not the one who turned him.”
Minato cringes, knowing he’s about to get executed, before picking up the phone and calling Mitsuru.
“Arisato, you're reporting early,” Mitsuru said once she picked up.
“Iturnedthatkidyoutoldmeaboutandsenttowatch.” Minato got out in a rush, scared.
There’s silence on the other end.
“Repeat that to me, slowly this time,” Mitsuru’s voice comes out, measured.
“I turned the Wildcard we learned about in this area. However, on the bright side, the Moirai did say that it was okay to turn him early.”
There was a longer silence this time.
Ryoji got up and went to see if Yu was awake as Mitsuru started yelling at Minato as he still disobeyed orders.
Yu woke up and looked around, there was a little bit of light coming from the blackout curtains.
“Well, did you have a good night's sleep?”
Yu turned to the door and saw Ryoji standing there. He let out a slight growl, Ryoji had a sharp scent to him; Yu was irritated by the smell of myrrh mixed with sandalwood.
Ryoji went in, ignoring the young one’s wordless warning; he repeated his earlier question. Yu nodded, remembering the dream he had and what Igor told him, Ryoji smiled before looking at him, “you must be getting hungry?”
Yu shook his head and got up, ignoring the pinch in his stomach. “I should be heading to school.”
Ryoji mentally shook his head, knowing that Yu is ignoring his own needs. “In the closet there will be an extra winter uniform for you. Also, at least get a cup of coffee before you go. You’ll thank me later.”
Yu nodded and started getting ready. Ryoji went to make the coffee as Minato now laid on the couch with the phone on the wooden-glass table.
Ryoji checked and it was off, “she wants to talk to Yu to give him his card. I told her that he will probably call this afternoon or she should call him before I give his phone number.”
Yu walked in and saw the coffee so he took it and drank, not knowing that his stomach pains went away.
Ryoji also set out his TV glasses and Yu picked them up, “I had a friend fix your glasses for you, they now work as shades as well.”
Yu put them on, “thank you,” and went off to school, which took thirty minutes. As he walked he could smell everyone and their scent was giving him a headache.
Yosuke rode up on his bike “hey, Yu-kun!” Yu turned and saw Yosuke and his scent was rather light and soothing to his nose, like pine and something else that he couldn’t quite place. “Did you sleep ok?” Yu asked, looking at him.
Yosuke nodded. “Yeah, after study- I mean messing around on my phone.” He laughs, Yu laughs along with him.
Yosuke was talking about who the potential victim was before he noticed that Yu was falling asleep. So, he made sure that Yu could sleep on the desk without any issues but his hand was caught by Yu’s own.
“Yu-kun, let go of my hand, please?” Yu was silent but then purred as Yosuke started to rub his head using his non-dominant hand to try to wake him up. Yosuke pulled for a while longer when it didn’t work, before Chie stormed in.
“Hey Satanaka, I wanted to tell you I’m sorry, and also…”
Chie looked at him. “Oh yeah, all is forgiven; listen, have you seen Yukiko anywhere?!”
“No, not really. I’ve been busy trying to get my hand away from Yu-kun.” Yosuke mumbled as he tried pulling his hand away again and Yu let out a soft growl that sounded feline. Chie looked over and hit Yu hard enough on the head to wake him up and Yosuke finally got his hand out, but hissed in pain because he felt something wrong; he looked at his wrist and saw a little drop of blood. He felt kind of dizzy. “I’ll be back.” Yosuke got up and left the classroom.
Yu looked at Chie, tired and slightly miffed. “Mine…” He mutters, loud enough for Chie to hear him. Chie looked at him and was about to sit at her desk when Yu stopped her.
“What is wrong with you?” She hissed angrily. Yu looks about ready to throw hands.
Thankfully Yosuke came in and had his jacket with him; he gave it to Yu, who purred. Yosuke went to sit down at his desk when Yu stopped him, gesturing at the seat next to him and ignoring Chie’s protests.
Yosuke just looks at Chie with a put-upon look and sits down where Yu wants him to, forcing Chie to take his old seat. Moorooka-sensei tried to force Yosuke out but backed down after Yu glared at him.
After school
Yu was checking his locker and didn’t find his phone; he left it at Minato’s most likely, cursing under his breath he walked outside to find Ryoji there holding his phone. Yosuke ran, catching up with Yu due to the fact he was wearing Yosuke’s jacket.
“Hey Yu. One, can I have my jacket back? And two, do you want to meet up at Junes to ask Teddy if anyone is in the TV?'' Yu looked distracted as he agreed but ignored the first one as he held the jacket closer.
Ryoji was just watching and laughing internally, because if vampires can’t be around their mate then having a piece of clothing from said mate would be just as good even if Yu doesn’t realize that Yosuke is his mate yet.
“Hey Yu-kun, stop making bedroom eyes at Yosuke-kun and come over here!” Ryoji called out, Yu and Yosuke looked at him both were blushing.
Yu growled at him and Yosuke walked away, forgetting that Yu still had his jacket. “I should be getting home.” Ryoji doesn't look phased as he hands Yu his phone.
At Dojima’s
Yu sits down with Nanako as they watch the news with Ryotaro looking on, commenting about how the reporters keep going on about the murder.
Yu nodded because he felt like something was wrong as he watched the news. When everyone went to bed, he went to his room and was greeted by Yosuke’s scent as he set the jacket on his futon.
He pulled the jacket close and lay there. Minato came out of the shadows with some blood bags, one of which he handed to Yu. Yu looked at it and then at Minato, “Hey, at least I warmed it up for you ahead of time.” Yu nods and sinks his fangs into the bag. It’s too bad he doesn’t have a mug to put it in. Yu muses as he drinks from the bag almost like a Capri sun.
Minato smiled as he watched Yu; then it turned midnight, making Minato look at the TV as it came on by itself. Yu almost choked because on the screen was Yukiko, though she was acting differently. “So did that happen to you and that boy Ryoji said you were making bedroom eyes at?" Minato asked making Yu actually choke. “What?”
“It is what Ryoji told me, though I would have to see it for myself and see if it is bedroom eyes, or just a look of wanting to protect said person.” Minato mumbled to himself, “I wonder if there are any openings at your school,” he spoke up louder this time.
Yu didn't answer as he was trying to figure out what Minato meant. He was pretty sure that no one else saw. Yu then heard his phone go off using the ringtone he set for Yosuke, it was right by Minato, who picked it up and answered while playing keep-away.
“Hello, Minato speaking.” He pauses, ducking Yu’s attempt at grabing the phone. “Yes, Yu-kun is right beside me.” He listens some more. “I can take a message” Minato nods after hearing what Yosuke said. “I’ll tell him.” he then smiled softly “You have a nice night, too. Okay, bye.”
Yu looked at Minato, pissed, who just looked at him impishly, not that Yu could tell by the look on his face. “So, Yosuke-kun wants to meet up with you at Junes and that you'd know why.” Yu nods, looking serious. ”It’s about what we saw at midnight.”
“Oh?”
“Yeah, we got dragged into it and now just do what we can to help.”
“I see. Well then, we aren’t so different after all. Though my question now is, who forced you?”
“That’s just it, I don’t know. Though I do remember feeling dizzy on the way to my Uncle’s after getting off the train…”
“I see. Well, sorry to bother you; all I know is that Ryoji stopped by the gas station once when we first arrived, but I was too tired to get out. Afterwards he told me that he was just talking to a friend of his.”
“Where does he work?”
Minato laughs, “he doesn't. Normally he just watches our house and sometimes goes to the shrine to handle some things.”
“Oh, I see.”
“The reason why he doesn't like working is because he has to work with electronics, though I know one thing he can work with and that, surprisingly, is a record player.”
Yu looked and laughed, “he looks young, yet that makes him seem old.”
Minato chuckles, “if only you knew just how right you are.”
Yu smiled. “So, what are you going to do now?”
Minato smiled, “after you visit your friends tomorrow, I will show you how to hunt. Ryoji will be coming with us to make sure we are safe and there’s also something that he has to do nearby.”
4/17/2011
Yu woke up later that morning and went to check on his family, only to find out that Nanako was by herself watching tv.
“Hey Nanako-chan, where's Dojima-ojisan?” Yu asked, looking around for his uncle.
"Oh! Good morning, nii-san. As for Tou-san, he went to work early.”
“I see. Well, I need to call someone really fast, then we can hang out until they get here.” Yu goes upstairs and pulls out his phone, scrolling through his contacts before reaching the one he wanted and calling them. Minato answers drowsily, before handing the phone to Ryoji and immediately falls back to sleep, cuddling his mate.
Ryoji chuckled, “why did you call so early, Yu-kun?"
“I was wondering if you had plans today, Ryoji-san,” Yu asked.
Ryoji hums softly, “nope, nothing. Minato is going to Port Island for the day and will be back by tonight. I’m not going because of a she-demon.”
“Well I was wondering if you minded keeping Nanako company while I’m out,”
“Sure, I'll be there in a few, just give me time to extract myself from Minato.”
“Okay…” Yu hung up and sat with Nanako, telling her that a friend of his was going to be there soon. “Ok, niisan,” Nanako continued watching the TV, it seems a quiz show was on. Yu watched with her and then helped out with a load or two of laundry.
Ryoji came in with a mug of coffee just after Yu made lunch for Nanako and handed it to Yu who took it with a ‘thanks’ before starting to drink. “Niisan?” Nanako looks curious.
“What is it, Nanako-chan?” Yu asked.
“Why haven’t you been eating?”
Yu looked embarrassed, but thankfully, Ryoji answered for him. “He’s been having early dinners with us, Nanako-chan.”
“Oh…”
Yu nodded, “I should be going” he finished his coffee, “Nanako, call me if anything’s wrong; and also, I taught Ryoji how to use the house phone.”
“What!?” She looks confused.
“Yeah, he’s a little behind the times,” Yu admits, laughing while Ryoji looks mortified. “It and an old fashioned record player is all he knows how to use.”
“Okay I will, niisan.” Yu then grabbed his keys as well as putting on his shoes at the agari-kamachi and went to Junes.
Yosuke was sitting at the food court waiting for Yu, he had some drinks for them, as last night he had a strange dream and saw Yu drinking from someone or something, and his eyes were red.
Yu came over, “hey Yosuke-kun.”
“Hey Yu-kun. So, listen… I have a question.” Yosuke looks a bit nervous.
“What is it?”
“Are you a vampire?” Yosuke asked, getting it out there.
Yu laughs softly, thinking he’s joking. “A vampire? What stories have you been reading? And if I was, why am I not avoiding sunlight?”
Yosuke looked down and mumbled. “So, my dream was just that after all.”
Yu looked at him,”Maybe. so... Wait… What dream?”
Yosuke told him about the dream he had with every detail that he could remember, Yu listened in silence but then stood up when he saw a police officer looking at them. “Is there a problem, officer?”
“What are you kids doing with weapons!?!” He demanded.
“I’m sorry… What weapons?” Yu and Yosuke looked shocked and confused.
“I saw you two with swords, now you’re coming with me!” The officer snapped, before hustling them down to the station.
Yosuke and Yu were talking to Dojima Ryotaro, who was just as confused as they were because they were just talking about Yosuke’s dream. Dojima nodded, “Okay, I will talk to the rookie, he shouldn’t have made assumptions like that. And frankly, it reflects badly on us that he did so.”
Yu nodded in understanding as did Yosuke.
“Yu, we should get going,” Yosuke said.
“Okay.” The two of them leave but not before Yu hears Dojima-ojisan shouting at the man who bought them in on false charges. He winces internally, not wanting to be in that guy's shoes right now.
They were at the reception area when they heard Chie yelling at Adachi, “Hey! It is just what I heard, miss.” He tried to deflect her ire.
Yu ran, and Yosuke had to pull Chie away before she could attack Adachi. He took her back outside to where Yu was panicking, the noise having gotten to him. Yosuke went over, “Hey partner, you okay?”
Chie scowls, looking at Yu. “Does he look ok, Hanamura-kun?”
Yosuke looked at her, but Yu was curled up in a ball at the base of a nearby tree. Yosuke went to Yu and talked to him softly, though to Yu, it was still rather loud, causing him to whimper. Yu uncurled and held him, some blood dripped down from his ears and Yosuke looked concerned. He uses his sleeve to wipe it away before it could stain Yu’s uniform, uncaring that his own was in the process.
“Hey Chie, let's get going; we need to get some weapons anyway if what I saw at midnight is any indication,” Yosuke says, nudging Yu to stand up.
“What do you mean what happened at midnight?!? Did you not see Yukiko?!” Chie fumed, going up to Yosuke. Yu was up and leaning against Yosuke, “I will not say, you would probably not believe me.”
Chie rolled her eyes, “please… I don’t think I would be confused.” Yosuke takes her and Yu to the shopping district. He told Chie about what he saw on the Midnight channel and she started laughing, “okay, you were right about not wanting to tell me. You must have dreamt it up. Yukiko becoming a bird monster? I will come with you guys though.”
Yu, who was now wide awake, looked at her “what?! But it could be dangerous!”
Chie glared. “I am going and that’s final!”
Yu and Yosuke looked at each other, and Yu sighed, “okay, but stay behind us.”
Chie nodded and they got new weapons before going to the T.V world by way of Junes.
They arrived at the castle with Teddy, who was crying about being lonely. Yosuke was thinking of ways to get rid of the bear.
Chie ran into the castle without a second thought, Yosuke was about to chase after her when the shadows tried to jump in. He mainly took care of them with his knives, but one got a lucky hit in and gave him a long scratch down his right arm and wrist, causing him to drop the knife he was holding in that hand.
Yu growled and attacked the shadow head on as Yosuke casted a healing spell on himself but a drop did fall to the floor. When Yu was finished, he went to Yosuke and started licking the wound.
Yosuke watches in embarrassment and a little arousal, red staining his cheeks. Yu looked up and was also red in the face. They were about to kiss when Teddy ruined the moment. “Danger Danger!”
Youske got up and picked up the dagger, “where is the danger at, Teddy?” Teddy pointed at the stairs, “just beyond that stairway.”
Yosuke looked at Yu, “are you ready?”
Yu just grins, a hint of something in his gaze that Yosuke can’t recognize. “Let’s go.” They all went to the second floor and went to the only door only to dodge as Chie got kicked their way by the shadow version of herself. Teddy wasn’t quick enough and Chie crashed into him. Yosuke was being held by Yu,
“Yu, you can let go now; we need to defeat her shadow before any more damage can be done.”
Chie pushes herself off Teddie while painfully trying to catch her breath, Yosuke gets out of Yu’s arms and checks her over. He doesn’t know much, but he guesses she had some bruised ribs at least. Shadow Chie looks like she kicks hard.
Yosuke healed her. but noticed that her arm was broken by the way it was hanging limp at her side. He winces, realizing that he’d have to take Chie to the hospital. Here’s hoping he can lie convincingly enough to the nurses.
Yu started fighting, the shadow moved and tried to dodge but Yosuke threw his dagger to help Yu, it hit the shadow in the chest and Yu delivered the final blow. Chie held her arm in pain, Damn, she can kick hard! She still doesn’t believe her shadow is actually a part of her.
“You’d better believe and accept that this is a part of you,” Yosuke said, “Yu and I have gone through the same thing.”
“Is that true, Yu?” Chie asked Yu, who came over to help Yosuke up. Yu nodded as he checked Yosuke over. Yosuke blushed a little.
Chie walked over and accepted her shadow, making said shadow transform into Chie’s Persona, Tome.
Yosuke caught her after she collapsed, drained of energy. “Yu, are you okay?” Yosuke asked as Yu stared off into space, trying to ignore the siren call of Chie’s blood as it dripped down. Yosuke touched him, making Yu turn to Yosuke. He had a glazed look in his eyes.
Yosuke was pinned against the wall quickly. “Ahh… Yu!” He started trying to push him off but it was like pushing at a brick wall. Yu started licking his neck making Yosuke stop and his breath was caught in his throat.
“Relax, it won't hurt.” Yu whispered in his ear.
“Yu..” Yosuke protested as he felt something pierce his neck before he felt like he was floating. Yu drinks, enjoying the blood, by Izanani it tastes divine. He feels his other self give a warning and reluctantly pulls away and only just barely; he tastes so good…
Yosuke was panting as Yu licked the extra drops from his neck, “we should get back, Yu.” Yu looked at Yosuke, nodding before picking up a stunned Chie, who immediately started hitting him with her good arm. “Let… Me… Go!”
Yosuke ran after them and Teddy followed, until they were at the station entrance. Teddy stayed behind but they fell on Minato, who was looking at the TV.
“Ouch! Could you guys give me a warning, next time!?” Minato yelled.
Chie got up and was still holding her arm. “Yu, you’re a vampire!?” Yu cringes as the yells overwhelmed his sense of hearing. Yosuke gave him his earphones and it blocked out the noise before Yosuke fainted from blood loss. Minato scowls at Yu, irritated but knowing he probably couldn’t help it, even now Chie’s blood is starting to get to him.
Ryoji was with Nanako making dinner when he felt Minato’s irritation radiate down their bond. “Sorry, Nanako-chan, I need to take care of something real quick.” He steps out of the kitchen and calls Minato.
Minato picked up, surprised that Ryoji was calling from his cellphone. “One, I am proud of you and two, can you get help? I have one severely injured girl, a passed out mate, and both Yu and myself are hungry.'' Minato looks at Yu, who looked like a cat with cream. “Correction, just me, but bring an extra bag just in case.”
Ryoji gave an answer before hanging up. He goes back into the kitchen and starts to make excuses for Nanako as to why he has to leave. Nanako looked at him, “is your boyfriend hurt?”
“You could say that, Nanako-chan,” Ryoji hedges, unwilling to explain.
“It’s okay, I’ll be fine.” Ryoji’s heart breaks a little at hearing the child act more adult than most. Also, it reminded him of when he and Hypnos were younger and following some of their older siblings around. They were too busy to pay attention to the two of them.
Ryoji sighed, “I will be back, I promise.”
Nanako smiled, “okay, shinigami-sama.”
Ryoji smiled and finished making her dinner, before getting his car keys and shoes before stopping at his place to grab the needed bags then taking them with him to Junes, where Minato had moved the group outside. However, Yu was not letting Yosuke go despite words of reassurance by Minato. Minato spots Ryoji and looks relieved at seeing the blood bags in his hands.
He hands Minato one, uncaring that people are staring and whispering to themselves.Thankfully it’s twilight, Minato doesn’t want to think about the amount of pain he’d be in if it were any earlier. Chie was shaking as she watched Minato drink the bag of blood. She faints just as Ryoji hands Yu the second bag, unable to handle the revelation that came to her.
“Huh… They usually faint after the first time they realize vampires exist,” Ryoji said. “I wonder why Yosuke hasn’t.”
Yu looked at Ryoji. “he had a dream about me and well, all I could do was deflect because he was right.”
“That would be our doing, brother,” Three voices spoke in tandem, each speaking a part of the words, while Ryoji groaned. Of course his sisters would have a hand in this as they ignored the humans watching. “Come let us go back to the place you have called home for an extremely brief time.”
Ryoji sighs as they vanish, uncaring about the mortals. He really doesn’t either, but spending a decade in Minato did have some effect. Enough to where he can pretend to care. Honestly, if it wasn’t for the fact that his mate turned out to be the boy he was sealed in, and the fact Minato wanted to protect the world, everyone would be elsewhere by now.
Minato touched him as he felt Ryoji’s mild anger at the other mortals.”Shh, you know the balance must be maintained, love.”
“You’re right, can you hunt tonight when my sisters are done talking with us?” Ryoji whispered. “I also found a soul who was taking a video of the interaction.” Minato growled softly, Yu held Yosuke close, slightly wary of his sire. Minato notices and sends a wave of calm down their bond.
After stopping at the hospital to have Chie healed, Ryoji also changed her memory slightly so she doesn’t tell people. It will last as long as she’s in the hospital. He took Yosuke and Yu to their house where Ryoji’s sisters were waiting.
“About time,” Clotho starts.
“You got,” Lachesis continues.
“Here, brother,” Atropos finishes.
Ryoji groans, “unlike you three, I have to drive because I refuse to bend time and space to get to places despite it being slower.”
The Fates looked at each other, “Us three have finally found Hypnos,” they spoke.
“Oh? Where did he plant his feet in the sand this time?” Ryoji sounds scornful, they hadn’t spoken since before Hiroshima. He blames Hypnos and his sisters for that mess, by his mother, the souls he was tasked to help clean up by the local shinigami of the area, which was odd because the Pantheons usually keep themselves separate.
“He’s been off the radar, I believe the current saying is, until last night. He used his power over dreams and the mind for some reason unknown to Us.”
Ryoji sighed. “There could be multiple reasons why he would do it. Maybe it was because of a human.”
Minato was taking Yu and Yosuke into the house. Ryoji noticed and said “let’s go inside.”
Yu sits down on the couch with Yosuke, “so, is Ryoji a god or something?” He asked Yu, who shrugged. “You’ll have to ask him yourself.”
“Okay. I’ll ask later.'' Soon enough Ryoji came back in as his sisters left. Yu and Minato went to hunt for the guy who was recording via his phone, leaving Yosuke and Ryoji alone. Yosuke looked up, “Oh hey, Ryoji. What did your sisters have to talk to you about?”
“Just about my brother, where did Minato and Yu go?”
“They went hunting to see where on Earth the guy who had taken the video is.”
Ryoji nodded as he smiled because he felt the soul already reap. “Well they will be back soon.” Yosuke nodded, “okay well what do you want to do now?”
Ryoji smiled softly, “I want to ask you a question, how do you feel about Yu. Like do you like him as a friend, or something more?”
Yosuke coughed softly, “What are you talking about? Of course I like him.” Ryoji was giving a hidden smile. Yosuke's eyes widened and quickly retracted his statement. “I mean he is just a friend.” he laughs softly, embarrassed.
”Of course, but have you noticed how he reacts around you?”
“I have, but I'm a little bit worried because of what my parents would think and not only that, but this is a small town. So, people will talk.” Yosuke said. Ryoji scoffs, "If it is the fact that these mortals dont think that those of the same sex can be together, they are idiots, and don’t know that it has been happening for the longest time. Even some great heroes and heroines had the same sex as lovers.”
“Really?” Yosuke asked, looking at him.
Ryoji nodded, “Tell you what, I will hang out with you when we are both free and tell you about mates, as well the heroes who had same sex partners and in return I want you to keep an eye on Yu for me and Minato when you guys are in the TV world."
"Deal!" Yosuke jumps at the chance, not wanting to miss learning something new. Ryoji laughed softly and smiled.
Yu and Minato came back, pleased and full while Yu was fixing the phone to make sure the video was gone, Minato moved to Ryoji, tired. Ryoji held him smiling, “let's get you to bed. Yosuke can you take Yu to his uncle’s house?”
Yosuke led Yu to where he was directed by the other male, and then to his room but couldn't leave as Yu pulled him onto the futon and slept with him, purring.
4/18/2011 Early morning
Yosuke woke up early and looked around. He was in Yu’s bed and felt warm as Yu came out of the shower. He was drinking a blood bag like it was a juice box, but he kept making faces like the blood tasted wrong. "Yu?" He questions, softly. Yu looked up and smiled at Yosuke, who flinched back at seeing his blood-stained teeth.
“It is good to see that you are awake,” Yu looks away after noticing that Yosuke had flinched. "What's wrong?" Yosuke held up his phone and Yu saw the blood on his teeth. "Oh. Sorry," he goes back into the bathroom to brush.
Yosuke looked around and sighed as he also got up and stretched. He then found his jacket in the dirty clothes pile. He's still not sure what to think about the revelations yesterday. “What I do know is that I will keep my promise to Ryoji as far as keeping an eye on Yu for them but I wonder how he'll handle lunchtime," Yosuke mused.
Yu comes out of the bathroom. Yosuke blushed softly and went about doing his business. Yu sat down and watched him. They then headed off to school, luckily for them Nanako had already left herself, where an upset Chie was waiting for them at the front gates, her arm in a cast and sling. "Why the hell are you here?!? And for that matter, how?!" Yosuke hissed, angrily.
Chie just waves off the question with her good arm. "What I want to know is why you left me at the hospital, you know I hate them!" She fumed.
"Let’s talk about this later, we should head in," Yu spoke up. Chie just gives a sullen nod and follows Yu and Yosuke to their classroom. Later on during lunch, Yosuke, Yu, and Chie are talking while eating or drinking some canned coffee in Yu’s case. Yosuke noticed and resolved to talk to Yu about it when they got a private moment.
After school
Chie looked at them, “we should go and save Yukiko.”
“No!” Both boys said.
“But she could be dying or worse!” Chie looked stressed.
“Yes, we know,” Yosuke starts. “But it will be better if you heal your arm first,” Yu finishes pointing out.
“Why would my arm have to be used when I can still use my feet and my persona?” Chie yelled, making Yu finch and Yosuke gave him his earphones once again, making the vampire calm down and he sighed softly.
Once Chie left it was just him and Yu who was listening to the music. Yosuke sighed and looked at him. “Hey Yu, want to go to Junes?”
Yu glanced over at Yosuke, “why there?”
“Well, I do want to talk to you; we can go to my place if you’d rather have this conversation in private.”
“Let’s go to your place, Yosuke.”
Yu and Yosuke arrived safely at the house and were greeted by Yosuke's mother who seemed to be getting ready to go to work. “Oh Youske, can you watch the house?”
“Sure, mom.”
She left, leaving Yosuke and Yu alone for a while. Yu looked around the house and found his way to Yosuke's room and was purring happily, like a feline.
Yosuke was making some coffee and pricked his finger, dropping some blood into Yu’s cup, not knowing what was going on. He opens the door after carefully exchanging both mugs to one hand, “Yu, I have…” He stops in the doorway, wishing he had a camera; Yu was nuzzling his pillow, Yosuke carefully sets the mugs down on a nearby table. Yu blinks sleepily, waking up to the barely noticeable, to humans, sound of the cups being placed down as well as the smell.
“I hope it’s to your taste, Yu.”
Yu took a sip and nodded, “I do. so, what questions do you have?”
“When we were eating lunch, I noticed that you were drinking a can of coffee, but are you able to have anything else?”
Yu shook his head. “Not according to my own sire, he tried back in twenty-ten and just ended up puking his guts out. He did mention that red wine was ok, but other than that…” Yu trails off, meaningfully.
“Oh,” Yosuke looks a bit green at the thought. “How did he find out about the red wine?”
Yu shrugs, “Ryoji, apparently. Minato mentioned that people are scared of his mate subconsciously. It made it easy for him to test that.”
Yosuke hums in thought.
Yu finished his coffee, “Minato told me that only select people don’t get scared by his mate. also, never touch his scarf.”
Yosuke looks confused.
“Unless you want to end up dead,” Yu finishes.
Yosuke has a scared look flash on his face. “Oh, ok.”
Yu kissed his head, “but I doubt it would happen to you.”
Yosuke blushed slightly and felt Yu nuzzle his neck, “but if it was you, I don’t know what I would do if you died on me.” Yu mumbled softly.
Yosuke looked at him, “I promise. I won't try to die, Yu.”
"Good," Yu mumbled in Yosuke’s neck before giving into the urge to bite, as Yosuke hissed in shock and pain. All he could do was hang on as Yu sucked at the bitten area. "Yu… stop…" Yosuke slurred as he felt himself growing dizzy from blood loss. Yu doesn't hear him, Yosuke’s blood is so overwhelming, he wants more.
Before he could do anything else, he's grabbed and pulled away by Minato, who nods to Ryoji. "Keep an eye on him, I'll deal with my childe." Ryoji looks grim, and tries to get an idea of what Yosuke’s type is.
Yosuke looked up and was extremely dizzy, Ryoji picked him up and carried him to the car before fast driving to the hospital. Yosuke looked over and was trying to stay awake, but to him Ryoji became slightly taller and his hair was the same, when he turned to check on Yosuke, his eyes were purple. “Ryo.. ji…?”
“Shhh, save your strength, everything will be ok,” He soothes Yosuke while keeping his eyes on the road, he pulls off to the side, the hospital is too far by car, he’ll have to teleport. Ryoji gathers Yosuke in his arms, making sure not to directly touch his skin, before moving them to the emergency entrance in a blink and calling out for a nurse.
“Gods! What happened?” A nurse rushes over, taking Yosuke from Ryoji’s arms and setting him on a nearby gurney.
“He got caught by a rabid dog,” Ryoji lied. “I was able to pull him away without too many injuries.” The nurse eyes the wound, it’s too clean, but lets it go.”Do you know his type?”
“I’m not sure,” Ryoji admitted, while the nurse makes a note to check.
Yosuke was taken to the back room so he could have a o negative blood transfusion as they weren’t sure of his type, Ryoji sat outside and awaited the news. The doctor came in, followed by the nurse. “Well, from what I was told, you saved the young man's life. If you had been even a minute later, he would have died from blood loss.” Ryoji froze, paling, because if Yosuke died then Yu would sucide after taking out the whole town in his grief.
Ryoji knew Yu’d find a way if it came to that. “Do you have any close to expired blood bags?” The medical professionals looked at one another confused. Why is this person asking that? “I’m sorry, we cannot answer that.” Ryoji makes a note of this and resolves to call Mitsuru later, obviously not everyone got the memo about him and who he was in relation to Kirijo Mitsuru.
Ryoji leaves the hospital soon after and calls Yu, letting him know that Yosuke is ok, though it came rather close. He teleports back to where he left the car and calls Mitsuru, giving his report as to what’s been happening. She doesn’t sound pleased at Ryoji being stonewalled by underlings but knows it’s not his fault. Ryoji drives back to the house and meets up with Minato and Yu who are talking quietly on the couch with some music playing softly in the background.
He clears his throat just loud enough for them to hear, despite the music.Yu and Minato look up, Yu looks worried while Minato just looks impassive as always. “He is stable, but I didn't know his blood type so they gave him O negative.” Yu growled, “That is not his blood type.” Minato calmed Yu down, “It is standard for O negative to be given if the person doesn't know their blood type,” he explained.
“It is AB negative, I could taste it.” Yu states, to which Ryoji sighs. “Then it’s a good thing that they gave him O negative anyway as AB negative is the rarest blood type.” Yu muses on that. “Isn’t that supposed to be rare worldwide? How could someone like Yosuke have a type that rare?”
Ryoji strugs, unsure. Minato hummed, “it’s a good thing that you were able to get him the help he needed in time.” Yu nodded, still upset. Minato clasps a hand on Yu’s shoulder. “Come on, let’s get you home,” Yu just nods and the two of them walk out as Ryoji watches. Poor kid, he doesn’t even realize how rare it is for Minato to do that…
