Work Text:
“A-Ano…” A quiet voice called out, as Byakuya walked towards the Sixth division. He stopped and turned to face the direction the voice was calling from.
“Ano, Kuchiki-taicho…” Hanataro said, suddenly feeling not quite as confident as he did before. The captain turned to look at him and he could feel his cheeks warm.
“Is there something I can help you with Yamada-kun?” Byakuya asked. It wasn’t very often that a lower seat would try to talk to him and this man was timid on the best of days. Though, as timid as he was, Yamada Hanataro was a world class healer and Byakuya knew he would go far in his career.
“A-Aizen-taicho recommended I come and speak to you about getting some help with calligraphy, since he doesn’t have enough spare time at the moment.” Hanataro replied. He could feel his knees shake a little as the taller, ridiculously handsome captain looked at him. Yes, Hanataro had a little crush on the captain.
“Ah, yes. What did you need help with?” Byakuya asked, wanting the smaller man to elaborate. He watched the seventh seat fidget nervously, he was very cute. Byakuya’s mouth twitched in a small smile. Yes, Byakuya had a little crush on the seventh seat.
“Unohana-taicho’s birthday is coming up, a-and I thought it would be nice to make her a gift. It’s just…” Hanataro trailed off. He fiddled with the strap of his med bag.
Byakuya raised an eyebrow, “Just what?” He enquired.
“I… ah, I’ve never been taught to do calligraphy. I-I tried to do it myself but they don’t look good at all.” Hanataro’s shoulder slumped as he recalled the sloppy, splotch filled sheets of paper that littered the floor of his room. He looked up nervously at the captain.
Byakuya’s expression softened as the smaller shinigami explained himself. “I will assist you in the creation of a gift for Unohana-taicho, Yamada-kun.” Byakuya found himself saying. His heart skipped a beat at the bright smile he was rewarded with.
Hanataro was shocked that the captain had agreed. He looked up to him, smiling widely. “Thank you so much, Kuchiki-taicho!” He bounced a little on the balls of his feet, excited.
“Come to the manor at six P.M sharp on Friday evening. We shall have dinner, then I will instruct you in the art of calligraphy.” Byakuya nodded and turned to walk away.
Hanataro bowed deeply, “I’ll be there. Thank you again, Kuchiki-taicho.” Once the captain had left, he straightened up, heading back to the Fourth with a spring in his step.
It was Friday evening and Hanataro stood in front of the Kuchiki manor gates, clutching nervously at his med bag. He wasn’t sure what he should wear so he just stayed in his uniform. A guard came over to him.
“State your business.” He said, staring down at Hanataro.
“I-I’m here t-to see Kuchiki-taicho. H-he’s expecting me.” Hanataro’s voice cracked a little as his eyes darted from the guard to the ground.
“Name.” The guard said, almost bored sounding.
“Y-Yamada Hanataro.” Hanataro replied. The guard nodded and opened the gate, allowing Hanataro to pass. “Wait! W-where do I…” The gate swung shut and Hanataro stood looking around the grounds, unsure of which way he was supposed to go. He nervously started walking towards the main house.
As he walked, Hanataro noticed that the manor had a large garden taking up most of the land. He couldn’t help but admire the care taken in maintaining it. He walked past a large pond that was filled with koi. Completely absorbed in looking at the pond he ran straight into a hard body.
“I’m sorry! I’m sorry!” Hanataro reared back, immediately bowing and apologising.
Byakuya had felt the smaller shinigami’s reiatsu when he’d arrived, and he made his way to the gates to collect him. He had to stop and observe him as he walked slowly through the grounds, staring in wonder at the garden he had so lovingly tended to. A small smile graced his features.
He didn’t expect the man to not notice him and walk right into him. Normally Byakuya would find such inattention bothersome, but for some reason he only found it endearing. Hanataro was apologising profusely.
“It’s quite alright, Yamada-kun.” He placed a hand on the small shoulder. “Please come with me and we shall eat.” He turned and started walking towards the dining room, sensing Hanataro following.
Hanataro couldn't help but stare at the captain’s back as they walked. He moved so gracefully that Hanataro was a little jealous. As if to prove the point as they reached the dining room, Hanataro tripped, slamming face first into the back he had been admiring.
“Ahh! I’m sorry!” Hanataro quickly apologised. He felt his face flush and wondered if he would be able to say anything except ‘sorry’ to the captain. Admonishing himself a little, he vowed to be more careful.
Byakuya held back a chuckle, he was a bit shocked at the sudden but slight weight on his back, but yet again all he could think of was how cute the healer looked blushing like that. “Be careful. I wouldn’t want you to hurt yourself.” He said, before opening the doors to the dining room.
The staff had already laid out the simple but elegant dinner. Byakuya sat down, making himself comfortable on a cushion facing the gardens. He gestured for Hanataro to sit beside him. “Help yourself.” He said, serving himself some food and reaching for the teapot. “Would you like some tea?”
Hanataro nodded, “Yes, thank you.” After the captain had poured, he carefully reached out and served himself some food. Taking a small bite, he couldn’t help the moan that fell from his lips. The food was amazing. Nothing like the mass made fare they received in the mess hall of the barracks. He began eating with gusto.
Byakuya nearly choked on the bite of rice he had just placed in his mouth when Hanataro moaned beside him. Carefully swallowing and taking a sip of tea, he watched the healer eat. “Is the food satisfactory?” He enquired.
“It’s amazing!” Hanataro replied brightly. “Better than anything I’ve eaten for a long time.” He continued. They both turned back to their meals, eating their fill.
“Shall we adjourn to the studio, Yamada-kun?” Byakuya said, once the healer had finished eating. Hanataro nodded. Standing up, Byakuya led Hanataro further into the manor.
Byakuya had set up an art studio in one of the lesser used parts of the manor. Mostly he used it for practising calligraphy, but he had also dabbled in drawing and painting with inks. His proudest creation - Wakame Taishi - was conceived in that very room. He had already laid out all the components needed for the lesson.
Hanataro looked around the room Byakuya had led him too. It was internal, but well lit. There was a large skylight that - when the sun was out - would illuminate the whole room. Since it was night, the room was lit with a few dozen candles and a lantern. Taking off his med bag, he left it leaning against the wall.
Byakuya knelt down at the low table where two sheets of hanshi were weighted down. Next to each sheet was a sumi (ink block), a suzuri (heavy container for the ink) and two different sized brushes. On Byakuya’s other side was a stack of hanshi ready in case they messed up or wanted to make more. He set about pouring a little bit of water into each suzuri ready to make the ink.
Hanataro sat down and waited for Byakuya to begin. He turned his full attention to the captain as he began to speak. “First we shall make our ink and then warm up a little by writing our names.” Hanataro nodded and picked up the sumi.
Copying the steady movements that Byakuya was doing, Hanataro mixed the fine powder from the sumi into the water, making the ink. He nervously wiped his hands on his hakama. Taking a deep breath, he picked up his brush and dipped it into the ink.
His first try didn’t go that well. The ink dripped and blotted, and it was so shaky it looked like he’d closed his eyes before writing. He put down the brush and buried his face in his hands, sighing.
Byakuya paused mid stroke and looked over at Hanataro’s page. The writing was legible but very shaky. He put his own brush down and picked up Hanataro’s page. “Would you like to try again?” He asked, placing the page off to the side and picking up another sheet of hanshi.
Hanataro looked up at the captain, expecting to see exasperation or even anger at his failed attempt, but instead found a soft neutral look. Hanataro felt his cheeks warm. “I’m sorry.” He mumbled, accepting the new sheet and smoothing it out. He dipped the brush into the ink again and took another deep breath. He could feel eyes watching his every move and took another breath.
Byakuya smiled fondly as he watched the healer take a deep breath and try again. The second attempt was much better but he was still making his movements too large and long, which caused the strokes to become wiggly and disjointed. When he was finished, Hanataro looked up at Byakuya.
“Much better, but still some room for improvement. Watch me.” Byakuya said, picking his brush back up and continuing to write his name. Writing calligraphy always made Byakuya feel calm and centred. The easy strokes coming together to spell out what he was feeling at that moment. He finished and put his brush down.
Hanataro was transfixed as he watched Byakuya write. Trying to pay attention to how the captain moved his hand and arm, Hanataro found his eyes constantly glancing up at his face. There was a calm tranquil look that Hanataro had never seen on the stoic man’s face. Grey eyes met his and he blushed brightly again.
Looking down at the partially used sheet in front of him, Hanataro picked up the brush and tried to copy Byakuya’s movements. The second attempt on the sheet started out looking much smoother, but his confidence fled from him and he lost control of the brush a little.
Byakuya could see the exact moment Hanataro faltered and moved, sitting himself behind the smaller and leaning over him.
Hanataro froze and tensed as he felt Byakuya come up behind him. The captain was so close, he could feel the warmth of his body seeping into his back. He gulped and turned his head. Byakuya’s face was so close. He quickly turned back to the sheet, willing his body to calm down.
His hand was shaking even more now as he tried to paint the final stroke of his last name. Warm arms came around him and a larger hand clasped his own. “Ku-Kuchiki-taicho!” Hanataro stuttered, “W-what are you…”
“Like this.” Byakuya said, gently guiding Hanataro’s hand, making smooth strokes. Slowly the kanji for ‘Hana’ emerged. “Very good.” Byakuya whispered.
Hanataro gasped as Byakuya’s breath ghosted over his ear. Heat flooded through his body and he accidentally dropped the brush.
“Are you alright, Yamada-kun?” Byakuya asked. The healer shivered with every word and Byakuya could help but lean in closer. He could feel his body respond and moved closer, pressing his chest against the smaller man’s back.
Hanataro sucked in a breath and leaned back unconsciously. He turned his head, “Kuch-” Lips pressed against his own. He let out an involuntary gasp and suddenly a tongue was in his mouth.
Byakuya made a snap decision. The healer felt good in his arms and there was little he could do to stop himself from pressing his lips against Hanataro’s. The mouth opened under his lips and he took the opportunity to explore Hanataro’s mouth. Pulling back he looked into wide blue eyes.
“I’m sorry, I shouldn’t have done that without permission.” Byakuya said, sliding back and away from Hanataro.
“No, wait.” Hanataro said, spinning around on his knees to face Byakuya. Unfortunately, his leg twisted in his hakama and instead of just turning to face him, he tripped and landed right in the captain’s lap. He laughed, righting himself. He looked down at his hands and realised they were resting on Byakuya’s thighs. “Oh, sorry.”
Byakuya was far from upset as Hanataro accidentally fell into his lap. Throughout his life, Byakuya had learned that he was attracted to men. Oh, he had loved Hisana, but he was never physically attracted to her - not in the way he currently was for the healer still leaning on his lap.
“It’s quite alright, Yamada-kun.” Byakuya said, resting one hand on Hanataro’s and the other going to run through the fine dark hair. “I would very much like to kiss you again.”
Hanataro blushed a deep red. He gathered his courage and climbed into the captain’s lap, bringing his arms around his neck and placing his lips against the others. He moaned quietly as Byakuya’s arm wound around his back, the other hand still threaded through his hair. He pressed himself closer, moaning again as he felt the captain’s hard cock press against his own.
Byakuya let out a gasp as Hanataro pressed down against him. He didn’t expect the smaller man to jump on him so quickly. He deepened the kiss, exploring his mouth. He pulled back and rested his forehead against Hanataro’s.
“I-I’ve never done this before.” Hanataro muttered, a little embarrassed by his confession. Throughout his life, there had never been much opportunity for him to get close enough to anyone to be intimate with them - not that anyone had tried, he was considered weak and often bullied.
Byakuya saw the look on Hanataro’s face and gently lifted his chin so their eyes met. “I have not either," He confessed, "But I will look after you, Hanataro.” He pressed their lips together in a soft kiss.
Hanataro melted against Byakuya, relieved that he wasn’t the only one. He gave himself to the captain, trusting that he would look after him.
Byakuya felt Hanataro melt against him and moaned. His hand moved sliding down to cup the healer’s ass, squeezing the soft mounds gently. He felt small hands slide around his neck and into the fold of the yukata he had chosen to wear that evening. He shrugged his shoulders, divesting himself of the now loosened material.
Hanataro pulled back and looked down at the now bared chest. It was strong and defined, the skin was pale and soft - very different to Hanataro’s. He felt a little self-conscious. As if sensing his unease Byakuya caught Hanataro’s chin, again forcing him to look into warm grey eyes.
Byakuya kept eye contact as he pulled Hanataro’s shihakusho out of his hakama, sliding it off his thin shoulders. His eyes trailed over the exposed skin, taking in the smooth skin. He leaned down and pressed a kiss to Hanataro’s collarbone. “Beautiful.” He murmured.
Hanataro blushed hotly, “I’m not…” He trailed off.
“Nonsense.” Byakuya replied, lifting Hanataro up and laying flat on the ground, his head resting on the cushion he had been sitting on. He laid himself on top of the smaller man and made sure to cover the whole of Hanataro’s chest with kisses - even leaving a few marks. He found he liked the look of the red marks on the pale skin, kind of like he was claiming the healer.
As Byakuya moved lower and lower, Hanataro could not stop the sounds falling from his mouth. He felt his obi be untied and dutifully lifted his hips to allow his hakama to be taken off. Laying there bared, he covered his burning face.
Byakuya sat back on his heels, opening the bottom of his yukata and exposing himself. He looked at the smaller man bared before him. He ran his hands up the soft skin of Hanataro’s chest and grasped his wrists gently. “You do not need to hide from me, Hanataro.” He pried the hands away from his face, leaning down to press a kiss to his lips. Angling his body, he ground his hard cock against Hanataro’s, groaning in pleasure at the feeling.
Hanataro gasped into the kiss, his hips thrusting up against Byakuya’s. Pleasure mounted quickly and Hanataro had to separate from Byakuya’s mouth, throwing his head back. His hips moved of their own accord chasing the high that was fast approaching.
Byakuya instantly attacked the pale throat that was exposed to him, his hips thrusting faster. He felt Hanataro shudder and warmth cover his stomach and cock. Moaning into his neck, Byakuya came.
They lay there panting, lost in the haze of pleasure. Byakuya pressed soft kisses to his throat, before getting up on his elbows and looking down at Hanataro. Hanataro was looking up at him with half lidded pleasure filled eyes, his cheeks blushed dark red. “Beautiful.” He whispered again, arousal stirring within him once more.
He trailed kisses down Hanataro’s jaw and neck, swiping a tongue over his nipples, enjoying the soft moans he elicited. He reached his stomach, and swiped his tongue through their combined come. “Mmm, we taste delicious.” He licked his lips.
Hanataro blushed at the captain’s words, but found it incredibly hot that the noble captain, Kuchiki Byakuya, had just tasted his release. He felt fingers trail through the mess and looked down. “W-what are you doing?” He asked.
“We are just getting started.” Byakuya replied, coating his fingers in their release and moving further down the healer’s body. With his free hand he moved Hanataro’s thigh, encouraging him to spread his legs further apart for him. He looked up at Hanataro, who had his hands up under his chin. Their eyes locked and Byakuya licked the tip of Hanataro’s half hard cock, tongue lapping up the come still clinging to the tip.
“Kuchiki-taicho!” Hanataro threw his head back and cried out at the feeling of the hot tongue stroking his cock. He unconsciously opened his legs further, allowing Byakuya to sit comfortably between them.
Byakuya chuckled, “You may call me Byakuya, Hanataro.” He then swallowed the head of Hanataro’s cock into his mouth and ran his come covered finger over his entrance. He felt Hanataro full harder against his tongue and moaned at the feeling.
“Bya-kuya!” Hanataro cried out when he felt Byakuya’s mouth around his cock. His hands moved to thread into raven locks. He tensed slightly when he felt a finger slide into him, but quickly relaxed when Byakuya traced the tip of his cock with his tongue.
Byakuya felt Hanataro tense and relax around his finger and had to take a moment to calm himself down. He wanted to feel that warmth around his cock, but he also didn’t want to hurt the small healer. He kept Hanataro’s cock in his mouth as he carefully stretched him open.
Hanataro got used to the feeling of Byakuya’s fingers inside him. By the time Byakuya had three finger in him, he was moving his hips trying to get the fingers deeper. He whined when Byakuya pulled away completely. “Wha…?”
“Hush, I want to be inside you.” Byakuya assured the healer, crawling back up the small body and joining their lips together, allowing Hanataro to taste himself on his tongue. He swallowed the moan the healer let out. Keeping his mouth firmly attached to Hanataro’s, he guided his aching cock into him.
Hanataro’s moan was muffled by Byakuya’s mouth, as he felt himself open up around his cock. The slow stretch felt so good, he could hardly think straight. He had to separate their mouths to take deep breaths. Each exhale was accompanied with a moan.
“You feel so good around me, Hanataro!” Byakuya said, forcing himself to keep still and not slam in and out of the hot body beneath him. Unable to keep still anymore, Byakuya slowly started to thrust.
“Hah… hah, feel so full!” Hanataro managed to say. His legs wrapped around Byakuya’s hips, giving him leverage to thrust up, pulling Byakuya deeper still. He cried out as his prostate was pressed against with every thrust.
Byakuya groaned into Hanataro’s ear every time he clenched around him. His pace increased, pleasure climbing. “Hana, you feel… getting close…” Byakuya pressed kisses to Hanataro’s ear and the top of his neck, enjoying the shiver that went through the healer.
“M-me too!” Hanataro grit out, the heat pooling in his gut threatening to snap.
“Come! Come with me, Hana.” Byakuya said, burning himself into Hanataro as far he could, letting go with a loud moan.
“Ahh!” Hanataro felt Byakuya’s cock swell and warmth flood him and came, his body arching as the pleasure overwhelmed him. His body went lax and Byakuya landed on top of him. He could feel Byakuya panting against his ear and his body shivered again, clenching around the cock still buried within him.
Byakuya moaned as Hanataro sporadically clenched around him, prolonging his orgasm. Small hands ran through his hair and he closed his eyes, enjoying the sensation. He sighed and shifted, the movement dislodging him from Hanataro. He looked down at the healer, smiling when tired but pleased blue eyes blinked up at him.
“Beautiful.” He couldn’t help but press butterfly kisses all over Hanataro’s face. The smaller man giggled lightly. “Are you feeling alright?”
Hanataro nodded, “Yes, I’m alright.” He was touched that the captain was concerned about him. He cupped the noble’s cheek, “I feel amazing.” He was rewarded with a completely open smile. It was beautiful. He kissed Byakuya, running his tongue over the soft lips.
They kissed for a few more moments, before Byakuya sat up, bringing the healer up with him. “Come, let’s go and clean up.” He stood up, offering a hand to Hanataro.
Hanataro tried to stand, but his legs felt like jelly and he collapsed back down. He laughed, embarrassed.
Byakuya chuckled at the smaller man, bending down and lifting him up in a bridal carry. “Kuchi… Byakuya, y-you don’t need to…”
“It is alright. I want to keep taking care of you.” Byakuya cut Hanataro off. He smiled, moving towards the master bedroom and through to the bathroom. He placed the healer on the stool and went about warming the water and getting the soap and a washcloth.
Hanataro watched, feeling a little awkward just sitting there watching as Byakuya gathered the supplies. “Can I help?” He asked.
Byakuya smiled at the question, “Sure, I will wash you while you wash my hair.” He offered. Hanataro’s smile made Byakuya’s heart flutter a little. He kneeled in front of Hanataro and aimed the shower head on his chest.
Once they were both wet, Byakuya lathered soap onto the washcloth and poured shampoo into Hanataro’s hand. Getting to work, Byakuya took his time cleaning the small body, enjoying the feel of Hanataro’s hands in his hair.
Hanataro worked the shampoo into the raven hair, the relaxed look on Byakuya’s handsome face made his heart flutter a little. A thought occurred to him, “You said that you were like me, that this was your first time, but you are so good. Why?” Hanataro asked, curious.
"I would rather not talk about it." Byakuya said, recalling the time the demon cat - Shihouin Yoruichi - had decided to take it upon herself when he was younger to teach him all about the birds and the bees - both male and female sides. He shuddered.
Hanataro’s hands stopped massaging the shampoo in, “I’m sorry.” He apologised.
“It’s alright.” Byakuya replied, moving on to lather shampoo into Hanataro’s hair as well. The smaller man practically melted under his touch.
They finished cleaning each other off and dried themselves. Byakuya led Hanataro back into the bedroom and moved to the closet. “Would you prefer to join me for the rest of the evening or go back to the Fourth?” He asked, secretly hoping the smaller man wanted to stay. Byakuya was quickly becoming attached to the healer and wanted to wake up with him in his arms.
Hanataro blushed at the question, “I can stay?” He asked, not thinking Byakuya would want him too.
“Yes, it would bring me great pleasure if you stayed here for the night.” Byakuya replied.
“Okay. Yes. I’ll stay.” Hanataro said, blushing again.
Byakuya smiled gently, “Would you like to borrow a yukata? Though, if I’m being honest I would love to feel your skin against mine as we sleep.” He confessed.
Hanataro’s blush deepened, “T-that’s fine.” He clasped his hands together, though silently chided himself, he’d just had sex with the man, why was the thought of sleeping in the same bed as him making him so nervous. A warm hand carding through his damp hair interrupted his thoughts.
“Are you sure?” Byakuya questioned.
“Yes.” Hanataro said firmly. He took Byakuya by the hand and walked over to the bed. He heard Byakuya chuckle and blushed once again. Byakuya moved their joined hands up to his mouth pressing a kiss to the back of his.
They climbed into the bed, Byakuya laying himself comfortably on his back and pulling the smaller man to rest his head on his chest. Letting out a content sigh, he said, “Goodnight, Hanataro. Sweet dreams.” With a soft kiss to the top of his head he closed his eyes.
“Goodnight, Byakuya.” Hanataro replied, he felt Byakuya kiss the top of his head and replied with a kiss to the smooth clean skin of his chest. Closing his eyes, he sighed happily.
Hanataro was just drifting off to sleep when his eyes snapped open. “We never finished the gift for Unohana-taicho!” He said, sitting up.
Byakuya laughed, “We’ll have more than enough time tomorrow to complete the gift, Hanataro. Relax.” He coaxed the healer back down and cuddled him close.
“Oh, okay.” He said, embarrassed.
Hanataro never thought asking the captain of the Sixth for a calligraphy lesson would lead to him becoming this close to the stoic man. He mentally thanked Aizen-taicho for being too busy to help.
Snuggling into the warm body, Hanataro let himself drift off, knowing that Byakuya would be there in the morning.
THE END
