Work Text:
Kinn was sure the universe hated him. He really didn’t think that he would be lost on a random forest twice on the same lifetime, but here he was. Worse, he wasn’t even back at home when everything went down.
He had been summoned to attend a meeting with one of his father’s old partners in this small city and he had no choice but being there personally because age hierarchy or whatever. Fine, okay, not the first time he did that. Except that the old man clearly didn’t want to cooperate since the beginning, so when they started to open fire and the confusion was made, he ran and got himself stuck on the woods. Again.
If he didn’t die here, Porsche was going to kill him. He can even hear the man’s voice calling him stupid and saying ‘I told you so’, because Porsche had tried to stop him from going and then tried to go with him on his detail but he had another mission and Kinn told him he would be fine.
Kinn shook his head in annoyance, he really didn’t want to be lost again and also the pain he was feeling on his side from a missing shot was not helping whatsoever. He had stopped for a second a while ago to wrap his waist with his jacket but it still stings.
He had to make a plan to go back to the city, he-
“P’Kinn?”
Kinn jolted and turned around so fast that he had to suppress a pained sound from his side stinging. Then he felt his eyes widening in shock before controlling his expression seeing the teenager in front of him.
“Porschay?” Kinn frowned his eyebrows. “What are you doing here?”
“Uh-” The boy looked at him a little confused. “Studying? We’re on a field trip.”
Kinn paid more attention to him and noticed that the teen was in fact wearing his school uniform, the brown pants and the blue shirt, he was also wearing a messenger bad and was holding a notebook and pen, with bunch of red strings hanging on his left arm.
“Oh,” Kinn softly said, remembering to not to try and spook him. “Does your brother know you’re here?”
Kinn almost did regret asking that when he saw Chay’s face tighten, remembering that the teenager was still not really talking to Porsche. Or to Kim. Right, maybe he shouldn’t have asked that.
“Probably.” Chay answered and looked around, fidgeting a little bit before looking up at Kinn. “What are you doing here?”
“Had a meeting that went wrong.” Kinn tried to be truthful while still not reveling much, he didn’t want the other to be mad at him for lying like he was with the others.
“Was Hia with you? Is he okay?” Chay’s façade broke as he anxiously asked, worry evident on his face.
“He wasn’t, he’s back home.” Kinn almost smiled at the relieved face the teenager made.
“Oh,” Chay nodded before he squinted his eyes at Kinn and gasped, pointing at his side. “You’re hurt!”
“It’s fine, I already wrapped it.” Kinn assured him but saw him look at him with judgement.
Being judged by a seventeen-year-old was really not something he expected for the day.
“I can see the blood dripping off.”
“It barely hurts, I got worse before.” Kinn saw the boy’s face turn into annoyance as he sighed.
“Oh my god, you’re just like Kim.” Chay’s tone was done as he closed his notebook shut and started to put it inside his bag. “Just because it could be worse doesn't mean it doesn’t hurt. By that logic you couldn’t complain about nothing because there is always something worse all there.”
Kinn opened his mouth and then closed, not knowing what to say to that. Chay seemed like he was still exasperated while rummaging his bag.
“Do you have your phone with you? I need call someone.” Kinn questioned and the boy nodded, looking for it on his pockets before handing it to him.
“I don’t have anything to help with your wound here.” Chay said, scowling at his things. “I only have aspirin for pain, but I can’t give it to you.”
“Uh- why not?” Kinn stopped, fingers that were unlocking the phone freezing on the screen.
“Aspirin thins your blood and you’re already bleeding.” Chay looked at him with his eyebrows drawn together.
“Right.” Kinn totally remembered that. “I’m calling someone-”
Before he could finish his sentence, the phone on his hands started to vibrate, making the older look at the screen and be taken aback. Chay, seeing the look on his face, came closer to look at it and scoffed, rolling his eyes.
“Just answer.”
“Hello?” Kinn heard his little brother’s voice from the other side of the line when he didn’t say anything. “Chay? Are you there?”
“Kim.”
“Kinn? What?” Kim sounded stunned for a second before he became worried. “Is something wrong? Why are you with Chay?”
“It’s a long story but a meeting went wrong and I got lost in a forest and Chay’s class is doing a fieldtrip here.” Kinn resumed and heard his brother move on the other side. “I need you to alert my bodyguards and come get me.”
“Are you afraid your boyfriend is going to kill you?” The little shit was smirking.
“Shut up, Kim.”
“Tell him that you’re going to be at the village’s hotel.” Chay said from his side and Kinn lifted his eyebrows at him. “You really need to treat your injury; I think you already lost a lot of blood.”
“Was that Chay?” Kim’s voice turned soft and eager, making Kinn look at the phone in surprise.
“Yes.” He said before turning his attention to the teenager. “I’m fine, I don’t need to-”
“You’re going to the hotel on the village.” The boy said, demanding, and crossed his arms, stubborn. “Or I'm calling Hia right now.”
Huh, okay. Kinn mused to himself, the brothers were both stubborn, good to know.
“You’re really Porsche’s brother.” Kinn chuckled a bit, noticing the boy’s eyes shine with joy at the comparison. “Fine. Did you get that?”
“Yeah.” Kim’s voice was fond and Kinn really wanted to mock him but he didn’t have time. “Pass the phone to Chay.”
“Kim wants to talk to you.” Kinn turned to the teenager and his face changed from apprehensive to angry and then to defeat, but he could see the masked hurt. He was going to say that he didn’t need to talk to him when the boy took his phone with a sigh.
“Hi.” Chay answered and saw the boy’s face light up for a second before he seemed to remember the hurt that he was feeling and turned defeated again. “Look, I get why you deceived me okay? You don’t need to keep trying to talk to me just because you’re guilty. I get it. I’m sure you have people to talk to, so bye.”
Kinn’s eyebrows raised to his forehead, seeing the teenager hang up the phone and put it into his pockets again. He almost reached out for the boy’s arms when he saw the tears he was suppressing before shaking his head and composing himself.
“Come on, we need to go.” Chay called him and started to go to one of the pathways.
“How do you know where to go?” Kinn asked, remembering Porsche and his terrible navigation skills.
“We have these strings,” Chay lifted his arm and showed him the red thin ropes. “So, we could put it on the trees to mark the way we came from.”
“Oh.”
Kinn and Porsche should’ve marked the trees with something when they were lost, too.
While he followed the teenager through the woods, the silence was consuming them, they could only hear the sounds of their footsteps, the leaves on the trees and the random birds that would fly and sing. Usually he would be fine with it, but he felt like that would be a good opportunity to talk to his brother-in-law.
“So, you know, your brother really loves you.” Kinn started, tentative. “And everything he did was because he cares for you and wants you to have a great life.”
Kinn stopped in his tracks when the boy stared at him with a deadpan expression, once again judging him.
“I mean, uh,” Kinn wanted to hit himself, he was a mafia heir used to talk and deal with the most dangerous people of Thailand and he was shuttering while talking to a teenager. Great.
Chay looked at him for one more second before his shoulders dropped and he sighed, passing his hand thought his hair.
“I know.”
“Oh, you know.” Kinn nodded, a little dazed, and muddled. “Then...?”
“I’m not really mad, okay? Fine, maybe a little bit, he lied to me, but I'm more concerned and hurt.” Chay explained and started to walk again, prompting Kinn to follow. “I’m angry that he decided that he would throw his life away for me. I just want him to realize that I want him to be happy.”
“Ah.” Kinn stared at the boy’s back with a smile, starting to understand. “You’re angry because he put your life above his.”
“Again!” Chay exclaimed. “I don’t want him to sacrifice himself, I just want him to be with me.”
“I see. I understand, have you told him that?”
“Not yet. I want him to think a little bit before we talk about this.”
Kinn could see why he would go through this strategy, actually. Porsche had this habit of not really thinking through everything before doing things and it seemed like Chay wanted him to try and understand his side first.
“What about,” Kinn started and hesitated for a second, not knowing if he should go through this way. “What about Kim?”
Once again, the teenager stopped on his tracks, but this time when he looked at Kinn, the older man could mostly see hurt.
“I’m-” Chay tried to stop before gathering himself. “I’m also mostly hurt, too. You heard when I said that I get why he did what he did, I too want to protect my brother. But I'm angry and hurt that he decided to use me and kept hanging out knowing that I had a crush on him.”
Kinn looked at him, astonished, he didn’t think the boy would talk about having a crush that easily.
“You didn’t want him to led you on.”
“Yeah, it’s not like I expected him to reciprocate or anything, I have enough sense, but I thought that he at least wanted to hang out with me.” Chay’s voice was so full of hurt that for a moment Kinn wanted to let Porsche go to Kim. “Like, he wanted to do his little investigation, right? Why couldn’t he just snoop around the house when I was at school or something? Or hack my phone! He had so many alternatives, he didn’t need to fool me.”
Oh, Kinn tough to himself, his brother was an absolute idiot. He didn’t know if he wanted to cry or to laugh, noticing that they were more similar than he tough. Looking at Chay now, Kinn needed his stupid brat brother to have a real conversation with the boy.
Kinn looked into his brain to try and see what Porsche would do on his place right now.
“Do you,” Kinn started to ask, coming closer to the teen who was on the verge of tears again. “Do you want a hug?”
Chay nodded, sniffling, and Kinn embraced the smaller boy on a hug, careful with his bloody side, and let the boy’s tears wet his shirt. He took his hand and started to draw circles on the younger’s back, soothing him.
After a little while, they parted and Chay looked up at him with embarrassment, but Kinn just smiled at him, kindly.
“Look, I can’t speak for my brother.” Kinn put his hands on Chay’s shoulders and looked at him with honesty. “But Kim doesn't really go through the hardest way to do something, he doesn’t like interacting to random people unless necessary or wasting time. I can see that he cares about you, I can say that he didn’t just spend time with you because of his mission. He doesn't act on guilt either.”
Kinn saw the boy’s eyes start to get wet again.
“I’m not saying that you need to forgive him or even talk to him now.” Kinn continued and saw the surprise on the teen’s face. “But when you’re ready you should talk to him, know about what he really feels, even if it is just to get inner peace.”
“Okay.” Chay’s tone was soft and he smiled up at Kinn, a bit of light having returned to his eyes. “Thank you, P’Kinn.”
“Come on, let’s get out of this forest.”
Being lost with Chay, Kinn realized, was a little different from being lost with Porsche. Of course, they were too different people, but he was staring to see what his boyfriend said when he told him his little brother was the smart one.
Chay didn’t got lost even once, he had a bag full of useful things, he had just handed a bottle of water and made Kinn drink it. He didn’t even blink at the random sounds that the animals made and he also wasn’t afraid of them.
A snake had just passed through them and Kinn’s first instinct was to put the boy behind him, shielding him.
“What?” The boy’s soft voice was confused and Kinn saw him get out from behind Kinn and look at what was going on. “Oh! Don’t worry, Phi, there are no venomous snakes here. Look, this one has round eyes, it’s inoffensive.”
Chay then went to Kinn’s front and walked with heavy steps towards the snake to make it leave. When the animal quickly went away, he started to lead the way again.
“Own, look at that.” Chay said with a sad voice and ran to a bush close to a tree and Kinn followed, confused at what the boy was doing.
“What’s wrong?”
“Look, a baby bird!” The teenager pointed and yes, it was a really small and ugly baby bird trying to move on the bush. “I think it fell down.”
He looked up and Kinn followed his gaze to look for the nest, not having to look too much because it was on the lower parts of the tree.
“Wait, don’t bird reject their babies if they’re touched by humans?” Kinn stopped the other boy when he tries to pick the bird on his hands.
“That’s a meet, Phi.” CChay chuckled and took the ugly little thing, climbing in a rock next to then and depositing it on the next. “Like cats drinking milk.”
“Right.” In his defense, it’s not like he ever had any pets.
“There was this kitten next to our house when we were kids.” Chay started to narrate and Kinn’s attention went entirely to it. “Hia used to sneak out to play with it, I'm pretty sure he wanted to adopt it.”
Kinn smiled to himself, imagining a kid Porsche with a little kitten.
“He couldn’t, it belonged to our neighbor. But Hia loved it so much that he almost stole it for himself.” Chay laughed. “I think that if his life was different, he would’ve probably been a cat dad.”
Kinn felt a pang of sadness inside of him, remembering his boyfriend and everything he had to sacrifice so that they could survive. Maybe he should find a cat and make Tankhun convince their father that they need it.
“You and Hia are dating, right?” The teen asked, once again leading the way out of the woods. “Like, really dating.”
“Yes.” Kinn said slowly, waiting for the questions to come.
“When he- when he kidnapped me.” Chay said and Kinn straightened up, knowing who he was referring to. “He kept saying that you would never love my brother and that you were just using hia to get over him.”
Kinn almost cussed, fucking Tawan. It looked like that man entered Kinn’s life just to make him suffer. He looked at the boy who was staring at him, trying to analyze him. Kinn felt bad for him too, since the younger had been kidnapped everything started to fall down for him. He probably didn’t have time to breathe properly.
“He was wrong. He was delusional and only wanted to hurt Porsche out of jealously.” Kinn controlled his voice. “I love your brother, more than I ever imagined loving someone, I promise you that what I feel for him is real and I want to make him happy.”
Chay kept his gaze on him, as if looking for something on his expressions before nodding to himself.
“I can see that he’s happy. I just hope you’re not going to take that for granted, again.”
“I promise I'll try my best.”
Finally arriving at the village, Kinn could see that there were a bunch of other students going in and out of the woods, some alone and some in small groups. Chay led him to a small hotel with a lot of busses parked next to it.
“Hey Chay! You’re back!” A teenager stopped them as soon as they crossed the hotel front doors.
Kinn saw two boys that seemed like they were Chay’s friends go to him and look at Kinn with confusion and concern.
“Hi guys.” Chay smiled at them before taking Kinn’s arm to led him. “I have to go to the room the nurse is using for the injuries.”
“Sure, but who is that?” One of the boys asked, squinting his eyes at Kinn. “Did you find a random guy on the woods?”
“Bell, for real?” Chay rolled his eyes and Kinn almost chuckled. “That’s my brother’s boyfriend, he was in a little accident.”
The two teenagers seemed to buy that, one of them even paled a little as he stared at Kinn and exclaimed.
“P’Porsche’s boyfriend?”
Kinn narrowed his eyes at him, wanting to know what the problem was but then Chay scoffed and seemed done.
“Are you still afraid of my brother?!”
“He said he was going to cut off my toes and make a necklace!”
Kinn stared at the teens with disbelief, what the fuck?
“We were like, twelve, he was just messing with you!”
“You never know, Chay!” The teen seemed really concerned and Kinn snorted. “Go on, go fix his wound, go!”
Chay just shook his head and pulled Kinn with him to the elevators.
Getting inside the makeshift infirmary, Kinn could see only a middle-aged woman sitting on a chair as she sorted some bottle pills on her bag. She looked up and widened her eyes when she spotted him and his side bleeding.
After Kinn told her a more believable lie about how he got hurt, he finally relaxed a bit when he was handled some pills and he sat down so that the nurse could give him some stitches.
Chay had looked the entire time and Kinn was surprised to see that the boy seemed unbothered by the blood and the wound, only looking at it with curiosity and interest.
“Done.” The woman said after dressing up the newly stitched wound. “I recommend going to a real hospital after we get back to Bangkok but for now, just don’t move abruptly and rest for a bit.”
“Thank you.” He and the teen said at the same time and were left to their own devices.
“Hey Phi, I think you should teach me how to use a gun.” Chay said and Kinn wiped his head so fast that he was afraid he was going to break his neck.
“What?” Kinn stared at the other with shock, but the boy was smiling sweetly at him. “What did you brother say about it?”
“I never asked him.” Chay said and Kinn felt like he was walking straight up to a trap. “And I won’t, I'm asking you.”
“UH-” Kinn tried to think of the consequences he would face from his boyfriend. “Why do you want to learn that?”
“Think about it! I’m your brother-in-law, right?” Chay asked and Kinn nodded, suspicious. “Wouldn’t it be embarrassing for the family If someone that had any link to you guys didn’t even know how to use a gun? Imagine how they would mock the biggest mafia clan of Bangkok!”
Kinn squinted his eyes at the teenager, not believing in what he was hearing. Then he smiled, honestly, he was a little proud and he felt like Porsche would feel this way too.
“Weaponizing my pride, huh.” Kinn chuckled and saw the other beam at him. “Lucky for you, you have a good point. I’ll think about it.”
“Thanks, P’Kinn!”
He shook his head in fond exasperation at the excitement on the boy’s face. If he found a way of doing that without Porsche and Kim murdering him, it will be nice.
Chay’s phone pinned with a message and Kinn looked above his shoulder in curiosity, but the messages were on a school group chat.
“Urgh.” Chay complained. “Another project.”
“What is it about?”
“Art and music. I would’ve loved it if I didn’t have five more projects at the same time.”
“Maybe I can help with it.” Kinn felt proud of himself when the younger grinned at him.
“Okay, so. We have to make a full biography of a singer of the old time period the teacher assigned us, show a song and talk about the period’s influence in it.”
“That seems interesting.” Kinn was being serious. “I like music, what time period did you get? The 80’s?”
“Oh no, I got Avril Lavigne.”
Kinn stared at the boy, unblinking. He saw the other stare back with a confused smile.
“But you said that they’re from an old time period.”
“And she is! From the 00’s.”
Kinn could only stare, his mouth opening and closing in disbelief.
“Right, the 00’s was a long time ago.” Kinn said, slowly. “Nothing like a reminder that I'm old.”
“You’re not that old, Phi.” Chay tried to comfort him and patted his arm. Yeah, really Porsche’s brother.
Chay’s phone vibrated again but this time it was a call, the ID showing Kim’s name. The teenager didn’t even think before handing de phone to Kinn.
“Hello, brother.”
“Kinn, aren’t you going to ever give Chay’s phone back?” Kim’s voice was little annoyed and Kinn grinned to himself.
“Maybe one day.” He heard car sounds on the other line. “Where are you going?”
“Guess.”
“Why didn’t you just tell the bodyguards to come?” Kinn asked even though he knew the answer, he looked at Chay and saw the boy get up and go to gaze outside the window.
“Not important. I’m just calling to say that Porsche found out about it and he’s going too.” Kim said and Kinn froze for a second and closed his eyes. “We’re almost there.”
“Is he really mad?” Kinn grimaced and heard Chay laugh a little.
“Oh, he is. I say good luck.” Kim taunted him. “If I were you-”
A sudden gunshot sound echoed and Kinn promptly got to his foot, looking in alarm at Chay who had flinched out of the window and now was frowning at it, hands moving with nervous energy.
“What was that?” Kim asked from the phone, concern lacing his tone.
“Those men are carrying guns.” Chay said and pointed outside.
Kinn looked and cussed, taking the teenager by the hand and starting to led him out of the room.
“Kinn? Kinn? Answer me!” Kim’s voice was frantic and Kinn was sure he was hitting the pedals.
“Look like the bastards found me, we have to go.” Kinn told his brother on the phone as he ran through the corridor.
“Fuck! We’re almost there. Don’t die.” Kim said and before Kinn could hang up, his baby brother’s tone became more emotional. “Take care of him, Kinn.”
“I will, I promise.” Kinn softly assured his brother before ending the call and putting the phone on his pockets and turning to the teenager who was almost shaking. "Let's go, stay behind me all the time, okay?”
“Okay.”
Chay knew he was trembling, his hands were sweating as he kept himself behind Kinn, both of them slowly going their way through the corridors of the hotel. The older man was focused and in his mafia persona, looking carefully at every turn before leading them.
Porschay really just wanted to catch a break. Only this month he had been kidnapped, hurt, had found out that his brother and his crush lied to him and now he was running away from criminals that wanted to kill his brother-in-law.
He really needs to relax a little, and he’s afraid that he could only do that after having an honest conversation with his brother and with Kim. Only thinking about his name makes his chest hurt and the back of his throat get heavy. But he also hates that thinking about the other man still makes him giddy.
Chay never imagined really bonding with Kinn, he just looked always too serious and too sharp, unapproachable. He knew that his brother had feelings for him, that was obvious, but he didn’t dare to try and approach him.
Surprisingly, the older man was nice. Chay didn’t see it coming, but the time they spent together had been cool and despite the fact that the other was bleeding, they had some great conversations and he felt like he would try and talk with Porsche and Kim soon.
Of course, right now, he was afraid. He really wasn’t used to this kind of action and his nerves were all over the place. Gunshots could be heard trough the hotel and every time he would flinch.
“Come on, to the stairs.” Kinn said and led him, still holding his hand and Ché was thankful for that, for grounding him.
“Your stitches are going to rip.” Chay caught himself saying as they started to descend the first level of stairs.
“Probably.” Kinn looked at him and smiled. “We’ll patch it up again later.”
They kept going, slowly, so that their footsteps wouldn’t be so loud on the echoing space. He thinks they only got down three floors before they heard sound of running below them.
“Fuck!” Kinn hissed and took Chay out of the staircase and into the hall, shutting the door behind them and running.
A loud gunshot from behind the door made them duck into one of the rooms, what looked like it was a kitchen slash cleaning place.
“Fuck! Shit!” Kinn kept cussing, looking around and breathing heavily, trying to find something to use as a weapon. “I don’t have any guns with me.”
Chay looked around too, trying to calm himself down. They could hear loud bangs coming from the same way they came. He spotted what looked like bleach at the bottom of the sink and ran there.
“P’Kinn.” He whispered and the other gazed at him, curious. “Look for vinegar on this cabinets!”
Chay didn’t wait for a response and took a bucket, getting two bottles of bleach and quickly emptying on it.
“Here.” Kinn handed him three vinegar bottles’, looking at him with urgency. “What are this for?”
“Are the man close?” Chay asked while opening the vinegars. The other nodded and went stayed close to the open door, ready to jump them. “As soon as I put the vinegar, hold your breath and then throw the liquid at them, trust me.”
Kinn looked doubtful but nodded. Chay held a big breath and the other did the same before he put the vinegar inside the bucket.
“Here.” he whispered and gave the bucket to Kinn. “Don’t let the liquid touch you, I'm serious.”
Kinn made a gesture for him to duck and cover and he could hear two sets of footsteps getting closer to the door. The older man prepared himself for three seconds before fast stepping out of the room and dumped the liquid onto the two assassins.
Chay could only hear the loud screams the two men were making, so loud that his ears were ringing. Kinn ran out and Chay followed, seeing the guys agonizing on the ground, skin painted red.
“Come on, let’s go.” Kinn said and stole the gun from behind one of the men. He made Chay go at the front and run behind him.
When they got to the other corridor, they sprinted to the other door that led to the stairs. Chay stopped for a second and finally could start breathing again.
“We can breathe now.” He was panting and saw the other man doing the same.
“What- what was that?”
“When you put- put bleach with vinegar, the acid makes these toxic- toxic vapors and causes chemical burns.”
Kinn stared at him and Chay didn’t know but it seemed like he was proud of him. Weird.
“Let’s keep going.” Kinn started to descend the rest of the stairs and Chay could finally say that they were almost at the ground level.
“We did it!” Chay whispered/exclaimed in happiness, seeing the last set of stairs and the door to exit the staircase.
“Almost there.” Kinn made him stay behind him as he lifted up the gun and then opened the door, walking out while pointing the weapon to see if they were clear. “Let’s go.”
Kinn walked slowly in front of him, gun pointing to his front. They got to the lobby of the hotel and the older man started to survey the space, trying to see if they could finally step out into the open.
They were almost at the glass door of the hotel when the younger man heard shuffle from behind them and looked back to see a sniper on the corridor to the left from where they came from. He didn’t think before pushing Kinn out of the way, making his body cover the older man.
Chay could only feel a burning sensation on his lower side, the sting was so piercing that he felt like a hundred killer bees were pricking his skin at the same time. His blurry eyes saw Kinn and the man had this shocked expression before it settled into worry.
He thinks the other were talking to him for some time now, but the static on his ears were just now fading a bit. Chay didn’t even notice how he got to the ground, when he realized he was laying down and P’Kinn was directly on top of him, putting pression on his wound.
“The guy?” He chocked out, his vision getting on and out of focus.
“I shot him.” Kinn said and the concern on his voice was really evident. “Come on, you’ll be fine.”
“’Kay.” He closed his eyes, tired. He felt like the rest of his body was becoming numb.
“Hey, don’t close your eyes. The others are coming.” Kinn franticly tell him and lightly scolded. “Why did you do that?”
“Uh-” His breathing was becoming heavier and he saw black dots dancing around. “Hia and- and Kim can’t lose you.”
“Oh god, you’re such a mini-Porsche!” Kinn shook his head and the distress was starting to become louder. “They also can’t lose you, dummy.”
Chay smiled at him, closing his eyes and taking a while to open they again, only doing it when he felt the other pinch his neck.
“Stay awake!”
He heard more voices coming close to them and realized that he had shut his eyes again. Opening them, he looked up past Kinn and saw his brother and Kim right above him, their mouths moving frantically but he couldn’t hear what they were saying.
Chay could only hear the white noise, but he saw Porsche and Kim’s faces contorted in apprehension, smiling a little to himself, he noticed that they were wearing identical distressed faces.
Damn, he really got kidnapped and shot in the same month.
The next time he came back to his senses, it was to the sound of a constant bleeping sound. His eyes felt heavy and he had to force himself to open them. He immediately closed them again as he was met with bright white lights.
Confused, he stayed with his eyes shut and when he tried to move, he felt a sting to his side, making him promptly stay still. Blinking slowly, he let his eyes adjust to the lights so that he could at last open his eyes and look around.
He was in a hospital, that’s for sure, but he was in a really spacious room filled with beige and white walls. The beeping soon came from the machine beside him and he had to stop and force his memory to work so that he could make sense of why he was in the hospital.
A sharp sting on his side was what reminded him of what happened. Chay’s eyes widened and he looked down at his stomach, letting out a quiet gasp when he saw that both his arms were being held by someone.
Tilting his head to his right side first, he smiled to himself when he saw his brother sleeping on the really big bed, his hands holding Chay’s right one. Gazing at his other side, his eyebrows shot in surprise for a second when he saw Kim in a similar position as Porsche, tightly embracing Chay’s left arm, letting his hand with an IV drip free.
Both looked tired and their clothes seemed scruffy, as if they didn’t change it for a while.
Then he heard the sound of a page being flipped and looked out of the bed, almost jumping with surprise at the figure sitting at the couch.
Kinn had seemly been reading a book, but now he was looking at Chay, meeting his surprised face with a smile. The other man got up from the couch and went to the edge of the bed, close to his head.
“Hey.” Kinn whispered and looked at the two sleeping men, who didn’t even move.
“What happened?” His voice was weak and scratchy, his brother’s boyfriend quickly taking a cup of water and helping him drink with the straw.
“When you were shot, they had just gotten there.” Kinn explained softly. “We did some first-aid and took you to the hospital before transferring you here. Those two have been here the entire time.”
“How long?” Chay’s slightly less raspy tone was almost not heard.
“Almost two days.” Kinn said and started to play with Chay’s hair, something that the younger didn’t think the other did to people. “Fortunately, the bullet didn’t hit any organs, so you should make a full recover soon.”
Chay smiled tiredly at the man and noticed that he too, looked a little disheveled.
“Were you here the whole time?” He asked, stunned, and the other just smiled at him affectionally.
“Someone had to make sure these two idiots didn’t kill themselves.”
Chay laughed, weakly, and the sound seemed to finally shake the two sleeping beauties, who looked up and stared at each other for a second before sitting up in an extreme fast way and gazing at Chay.
Honestly, he wished he could more eyes because both their faces were funny. Porsche looked at him and gasped, eyes squinting in a relieved eye-smile. Kim got up from the bed in a really un-prince like fashion and almost got tangled on the sheets, before going closer to Chay and sitting there. What made Chay pay attention was the open worry and relief on the older boy’s eyes, his emotions being showed openly.
“Are you okay?” Porsche asked him, frantic.
“Does it hurt? Should we call the doctor?” Kim had the same intonation on his voice.
“Stay put, we’ll-”
“You’re fine-”
“Guys.” Kinn’s voice made the two snap their mouths shut and glare at him with twin expressions.
Chay looked at Kinn and both chuckled at the same time, making the other two look at them with curiosity and surprise.
Chay just shook his head with a small smile on his face, lifting both his hands and taking one of Kim’s and one of Porsche’s. He saw the amazed look on both of their faces, because he wasn’t really talking to them before, and saw how their eyes seemed hopeful.
They would talk, Chay wasn’t going to waste time focusing on the hurt for much longer. For now, he just wanted to be comforted. He gazed at his brother-in-law, seeing an understanding look on his face and beamed a little, gazing back at Porsche and Kim.
“Hey.” His smile could rival the sunlight that was passing through the window.
