Chapter Text
Hello, My name is Lucky Clover and Im 16 years old boy, I live with my aunt Maya. I used to lived with my aunt parents when Im 7 years old after the big accident that killed my parents. My aunt is 28 years old now and she decide to buy a small house to move out, she has been saving alot of money to buy a small house in the area because my school is far from the place I used to live, even with her parents share of money and some of my late parents money we barely got enough to buy an apartment, by some weird miracle I won a 250.000 dollars from a lottery prize when we were walking around a mall, my aunt said I can be a lucky lad but this is a jackpot for me. After we got the money we run fast to the exits because there's alot of reporters trying to interview me.
After my aunt bought the house we immediately pack ours stuff and said goodbye to my grandaunt and granduncle, good thing my aunt can drive and our belongings are enough to fit in the car, we arrive at our new house after a 2 hours long drive in brooklyn not to far from my school just a 10 minute drive with car if it not to busy. We pack our stuff (mostly just clothes, books, and hygiene essential), we clean our house first, I mop and clean the windows while my aunt cleans the yard and taking care of the trash, we still don't have any furnitures in the house so my aunt order some takeaway while looking at furniture on online shops.
"May, the neighbor in front of our house are selling their things, let's check it out." I called her, the neighbor are going to move out of town so they try to sell the stuff they don't need "Okay let's hope It's not too expensive." Im surprise with the amount of things laid on their yard, I see chairs, small tables, lamps, and an antiques too. "excuse me maam, how much for the sofas?" Maya asked the lady who come out carrying a hanging rack "It's 89$ for the single seat and 177$ for the doudle seats" "Maya It's so cheap let's get them, how about this lamp and the small table?" "the lamp is 12$ and the small table is 50$. "Maya face scrunch after hear the table price "We take the two sofas and the lamp" "But May, this table looks good with the sofa." "Still to expensive for a small coffee table so no, we need to get a dining set too, and we still don't have a bed for each of us." "Are you two new here, I have never seen you around before?" "Yes we just arrive today, and we looking for some furnitures." she pointing at the house behind her back, the woman smiles "Too bad me and my family gonna move out next week we didn't have a chance to get to know each other." "So where are you moving to? big cities or villages."
While my aunt busy talking to the neighbor, I been looking around for something useful but none of them looks good to use, just when Im about to stop my search I saw this black umbrella with a bunch of weird papers on it, It feels light for a big umbrella, how to open it? "Excuse me maam, is this umbrella for sale?" My aunt and the neighbor see me holding a big umbrella, "Boy, what the fuck?" typical reaction from my aunt make me roll my eyes. The woman reacts "Ohhh. I almost forgot about that thing. You can have it if you want." "I can have it for free?!" Im surprise and so does my aunt "Are you sure to give that umbrella for free?" My aunt asked and The woman nodded "Yes, you can. My husband just found that umbrella in our storage room three days ago, we don't know what to do with it so we just give it to anyone who wants it".
When we done pay for our stuff the pizza come and we ate our lunch. We got a sofa set, a medium size table, a table lamp and an umbrella. "Lucky, you tired? I want to clean the sofas first, do you want clean the lamp and your umbrella?" "I'll clean the lamp first, then the umbrella. Can you open it for me?" I hand her the umbrella, she tried so hard to not cough from the amount of dust on the umbrella, she checks. "It's like an old umbrella my friend used to have, the papers has scribbles I don't even understand, the papers really stay on can't tear it and the fabric still good" she untie the fabric around the umbrella and open it like how usual umbrella do, the dust fly everywhere my aunt sneeze so hard she drop the umbrella, she sneezing nonstop I tried to find a tissue for her, I gave the tissue to her but she still sneeze while holding her head, pointing the umbrella and then me I get message "Wash the umbrella first." I take the umbrella outside so my aunt doesn't get more dust on her. I take a tiny towel, wet it with water, squeeze the towel so It's not too wet and start cleaning the outside of the umbrella, she's right when she says the papers can't be tear away. Gotta be careful with the tip too, the inside is alot more dirty then the outside, need to rewash the towel. Finally after 30 minutes of wash It's done its almost evening, I don't hear my aunt sneeze anymore so thats good, I close the umbrella and enter the house seeing my aunt vacuum the sofas "I finish washing the umbrella, need help with anything May?" She look at me and turn of the vacuum cleaner. "Nope, just done with them, you sleep on the couch tonight, I get my futon and the pillows" So thats why she clean the sofa first "I already order two single beds and the frames, which room you want to sleep in? cause I take the front one." "I take the one near the bathroom so I can take shower right away." I reply with a big smile, she smile while looking at her phone "I going to order something for dinner. what do you want?" "Korean fried chickens!!! I want the non spicy one." "Sure, I'll get the rice set then, ohhh discount, nice. By the way, that umbrella have dry completely if not open it and let it dry a little longer, the inside can't dry as easily as the outside" Ohh... I open it again, she's right, the inside still wet, better leave it open for a while.
After we finish cleaning ourselves and eat our dinner we rest early, still 7 pm yet I so tired, I check the umbrella, It's half dry. My aunt already in her futon looks carefully at the umbrella, she's wary of it. "Why you looking at the umbrella like that? its not gonna do anything you know." I said to her "Yeah, just my imagination." Then she sleeps. "Wait, what is it tell me, what did you see." I shake her tired body, then she said something with her tired voice "I thought I sees two pairs of eyes in there, g night Luck" Yeah... she's just imagining things, we are tired after all. I soon follows my aunt to sleep when I suddenly sees someone starring at me, tall men with yellow eyes starred at me, when I tried to wake my aunt, I too tired and fell asleep.
