Waffles is not like Flapjack. There is no hair pulling, no fluttering off by themselves to get into trouble. No, Waffles is very gentle to Hunter and is always close by. Hunter didn't (doesn't) expect Waffles to be Flapjack (nor does he want that). No one could ever replace him.
What is surprising however is how protective waffles can be. From the moment he awoke he's given the stink eye to anyone that got too close to Hunter. For the most part Waffles trusted everyone as soon as they introduced themselves. But strangers are another matter.
There have been a few incidents where someone recognized the former golden guard or was just general prickly toward Hunter and Waffles went full attack mode. Pecking, scratching, pulling out hair, and not to mention his super loud screeching cries. Luz says that he's a perfect little angel, doing his duty to protect Hunter from those that might try to hurt him, or apparently, be rude.
If he could just stop looking so smug afterwards, the little shit.
