When dick suddenly called Roy out of the blue he immediately got a bad feeling, phone calls between any of the old titans minus Kori always makes the red head a bit nervous
the two had become friends again after Roy had gotten clean for his drug addiction but not on a “random calls” level of friendship
Roy answered the phone after the fifth ring almost missing it
“Roy” Dick’s steal tone cut through from the other side, leaving roy even more on edge
“Jason got hurt, Red Robin and Orphan and coming to get you in the batmobile to bring you to the cave” dicks voice was laced with quite, tense panic. He hung up before Roy had a chance to process what dick had said let alone question what had happened to his Jaybird
“Goddamn bats don’t wait for anything” Roy whispered before his mind started to race

Roy and Jason had been together for over four years now, both men had just clicked together when they first met as sidekicks but got much closer after forming the outlaws
Jason helping Roy through his craving, desperate to reach that high one last time, holding him close through his relapses
Jason had helped him raise Lian and took her in like she was his own daughter, Lian loved her JayJay and was ecstatic when Roy convinced Jason to move in with them in a place just outside of Gotham about a months ago,
Lian was currently staying with her “grandpa Ollie” and “Grandma Dinah” while they finished moving their stuff from star to Gotham
And Roy supported Jason the same
Roy holding Jason through his Pit episodes, Jason mostly had control over the Pit now but had flare ups every once in a while, Jason was able to mend things with his family and was afraid that one of his pit episodes would ruin things all over again, so panics attacks often followed his episodes more often than not and Roy was there to support him through them
So hearing Jason had been hurt, not knowing how bad, was sending Roy’s stomach through loops that would rival even the craziest of roller coasters

Roy didn’t know how long he was standing in his and Jason’s living room but eventuality Tim and Cass were crashing through the window, covered in drying blood
“What the hell happened? Where’s Jay-“
“Not now. Explain in car” Cass said with a slightly panicked expression and voice. Practically pushing Roy out of the apartment
“Goddamn bats don’t wait for anything” Roy thought
Roy knew that she and Jason had gotten closer lately and she was obviously very concerned about her little brother, Jason complained about Cass calling him little but everyone knew he actually didn’t really mind
Once they got into the bat mobile Tim started to explain what happened

Jason, or the red hood, was looking into a new drug that black mask was trying to spread through Gotham, unfortunately for black mask when dealings started in crime alley it took about two hours for red hood to track down the dealers and beat them to a pulp
Tim said he’s not even sure the poor bastards even remembered there own names after Jason had knocked them out after getting the intel he needed from them
for the amount of times red hood had beaten black mask himself AND his henchmen nearly to deaths door, you’d think he would’ve learned to stay away from crime alley by now
No one had ever said black mask was smart but he was crafty, he had managed to cover his tracks this time and Jason was only able to find the original point where the drugs had stemmed from, and black mask was long gone by the time Hood had gotten there
Jason normally does things himself when it was comes to crime alley, but if it was spreading throughout Gotham he figured he should get the rest of the bats involved
With Oracle, Red Robin, and the world’s greatest detective plus Jason intel, it didn’t take long to find where black mask was hiding the goods, about five different warehouses throughout Gotham
The bats had taken out the other four warehouses and where dealing with the last one near the docks, everything was going smoothly to smooth Robin was getting suspicious and annoyed and tried to run ahead
Some of black masks goons where already waiting when Robin barged into the room and had their guns aimed at him
However Hood jumped in front of Robin and took the bullets for him
Hood had gotten shot six times before Batman and Nightwing ran in and took down the guards
Red Robin and Orphan ran in and pulled Hood out of the building to check his injury’s
Jason had gotten shot twice in the left shoulder,
once on the right hip, twice in his left thigh and once in his right knee, Jason was already back in the cave getting surgery done to fix his knee, the bullet had almost got straight through his knee and would be off it for at least a few months but should be fine
After Tim finished telling Roy what had happened they spent the rest of the ride in tense silence
Roy had been to the cave a few times but it brought a unsettling feeling being there
Now going there knowing his boyfriend was injured just increased that unsettling feeling by ten fold

When they pulled into the cave, the car hadn’t even come to a full stop before Roy was jumping out, Roy spotted dick, sitting beside a sad looking Damien Wayne
“Dick!” Roy yelled running towards him “where is he?!” Roy almost screamed before dick brought his hand up to silence the archer
“Jason will be fine Roy, he’s out of surgery and is asleep, Alfred and Leslie said he will be fine, he’ll be on bed rest for a few months though”
Roy released a breath he didn’t know he was holding
Dick brought Roy back to where Jason’s cot was
Jason was sleeping peacefully, a bag of blood, IV and pain meds hung above Jason’s bed
The only thing roy could currently do was to wait until Jason woke up

Roy sat beside Jason for hours until he had to leave to set up some final things with Lians new school, he was already on his way back on his bike when Tim called to say Jason was awake “he’s fine, but he’s a bit loopy right now”
Roy was a bit nervous about what “loopy” meant but like dick, Tim hung up before Roy could say something
“Goddamn bats don’t wait for anything” Roy mumbled

Roy was pulling into the cave again when he saw Jason currently smothering Tim in the best hug he could mange with his injuries, his torso and shoulder were bandaged and his right leg slightly elevated, when Jason spotted him
“ROOYY! My love has arrived to save me from this dungeon!” Jason called out letting Tim escape Jason’s hug and fall off the bed onto the cave floor”
“Freedom!” Tim mumbled as he laid face down on the cave floor out of Jason’s grasp “he grabbed like ten minutes ago and wouldn’t let me go”
Roy chuckled at Jason and Tim’s antics and jogged over to him “I thought we talked about not getting shot anymore, how are you feeling Jaybird”
the nickname easily rolled off Roy’s tongue and he kissed Jason on the check
“A lot better now that your here, dove” Jason smiled up at Roy, slightly slurring his words, sleep still rough in his voice
Roy’s noticed a new bag of pains meds over Jason and chuckled again before kissing Jason softly on the forehead
“I told you he was loopy” Tim mumbled still laying on the floor, clearly with little desire to get up “he’s showing affection!, what have you done with my brother?”
Roy remembered the feeling of being high of pains meds and remembered the euphoria it used to bring him
“I don’t need drugs I have you”
Roy remembered Jason saying that once a few years ago
Roy tired to always think back to those words when he’s was craving a high if Jason wasn’t around, jason words kept him grounded and he could push the thoughts away
“What am I diseased? Kiss me properly” Jason complained pouting his lips out
Roy pushed Jason’s hair back and kissed him softly on the lips
Roy heard a loud dramatic gasp from behind him
“defiling my baby brother right in front of the children?” Dick gasped again covering Damian eyes who protested the gesture “ ”tt” I am not a Child Grayson!”
Roy thought back to when Dick actually discovered his and Jason relationship, Roy could’ve sworn dick fainted for a few seconds
“I’m not a baby either and Come Dickie, you know me and Roy have done MUCH worse” Jason joked still slurring his words a little reaching up trying to steal Roy’s Hat
Roy did not know for the life of him why Jason always tried to steal his hats, but he found it cute at first but now Lian was doing it and now none of his hats were safe on his head, especially the hat he wore as arsenal
Apparently not even getting shot six times would stop Jason quest for Roy’s hat, Roy moved back slightly out of Jason’s reach
“Ok! I do not need to hear this!” Tim finally shot up from the floor and rushed back to bat computer to finish his report from the night before, Jason laughing as Tim fled
“Gross” said dick walking over the Jason, opposite side of Roy “how are you feeling Little wing?”
“Groggy, there’s a angel next to me so i must be dying” Jason joked still smiling looking at Roy still trying to take his stupid hat, nearly missing Damians hurt expression, and Jason frowned himself
“Damian…” Jason said looking at his baby brother
“I’m sorry Todd..” Damian mumbled picking at Jason’s blankets “if I hadn’t been reckless you wouldn’t have gotten shot…”
“Dami, I’ll be fine, I’m just glad it wasn’t you that got hurt, we all make mistakes, even the best of us” Jason said rubbing Damians head messing up his hair, tugging his shoulder in the process causing him to wince slightly, making Damian expression go tense
“you think Bruce hasn’t gotten shot once or twice in his career?” Dick said messing up his hair even more
“plus I’m sure mom or Bruce would’ve killed me if I had let you get shot” Jason said setting back down against the pillows
“Oh. Speaking of mother, father called and informed her what had happened” Damian said looking at Jason, his expression softened a bit while Jason’s hardened
“Oh god is she-“
“she’s on her way now, she should be here within the hour”
“Oh boy, you ready to meet my mom Dove?” Jason said looking back up at Roy and couldn’t help but smile again
looking at the freckles that scattered across Roy’s face
He loved trying to count them when it was just him and Roy lying in bed together
“I just hope it goes better than it did when Bruce found out”
Roy spoke with a sigh of defeat, moving back closer to Jason’s side grabbing his left hand, giving it a light squeeze
“I still don’t see why out of everyone in the world you had to pick Oliver queens son” Jason said mocking Bruce’s voice
“I still don’t see why” Jason blushed a little at being caught making fun of his father and watched Bruce entering the room, Cass right behind him “how are you feeling Jaylad?”
“Better now that I’m here” Roy said looking up Bruce with a smug expression
“Hmmhm..” Bruce mumbled clearly not impressed
“Are you ok little brother” Cass said looking down at Jason’s bandaged shoulder and torso”
“I’ll be fine Cassy, Thank you” Jason said looking up at his “big” sister
Cass smiled at sat down in a chair next to Jason’s bed
“Talias definitely scarier than Bruce Roy she’d probably stab you for saying that”
“Oh boy…” Roy mumbled looking at Jason who was half way back asleep thanks to the pain meds he was on
“Good luck dove” Jason mumbled and just like that, the exact moment Jason fell back asleep was when Talia al Ghul herself walked into the cave
“Good luck indeed” Damian, Dick and Bruce said at the same time, Cass got up giving Roy a sympathetic smile before leaving Roy to fend for himself
“Goddamn bats don’t wait for anything!”
