Chapter Text
I can't help but look around as I walk into Vought tower, taking in everything. "We are so excited to have you as a part of The Seven, Savannah." Ashley pipes up, pulling me out of my thoughts. "I mean your powers are exactly what The Seven needs." She adds.
I was telekinetic, but I also could read minds, see and erase people's memories, even manipulate their minds. "Well I do appreciate you choosing me, I have been waiting a long time for this." I reply.
"Oh I don't get to choose who gets in, that's all Homelander." She remarks, turning her head to glance back at me. "I made that mistake once." She mumbles.
Homelander? He picks? "So, he was the one who decided I should join?" I inquire. Everyone knows Homelander, you would have to live under a rock to not know who he is. Everyone back home loved him, worshipped him almost.
"Yep, he is pretty excited to have you start." She replies, walking furiously through Vought as we approach the elevator, walking inside as the doors slide open. "Now, as stated in your contract, you still have to do at least 3 performances a year, so we will make sure we get your approval for the set list whenever those happen."
Before this, I was just some stupid fucking pop diva who happened to have powers, but that's all this business is about, making a name for yourself any way you can. And besides, I had my family to support.
"Of course, that will be fine." I remark, sighing lightly as I place my hands on my hips. "So when exactly am I gonna get to go, you know, on patrol and shit?"
Ashley lets out a small laugh, leaning to push a button in the elevator. "Let's not get ahead of ourselves, you have to meet everyone first, get through this first week, and then we will get that sorted out for you."
I nod, blowing a small raspberry with my lips. "Yeah, of course." Vought was nothing but image, but I didn't want to be just some product anymore. I wanted to help, be good.
"Now, when you meet Homelander, don't let him think you are reading his mind or anything like that, he can tend to be...unpredictable sometimes." Ashley almost whispers the last part to me. "So just smile, sit pretty, and we should be just fine okay?"
I plaster a smile, nodding again. "I can do that I guess." I reply with a shrug.
As the elevator stops, I am shuffling behind Ashley, her fast pace unbearable. She leads me into a large room, "I am gonna leave you here, he should be in a few minutes to see you, remember, smile and sit fucking pretty." She quips at me, gesturing to her face as she smiles wide.
"Got it, smile and sit pretty." I repeat, smiling as I look at her. She nods and walks out, fast pace in tact.
I look around, I assume this is The Seven's conference room. The huge 'V' shaped table in the middle of the room lined with chairs but only one at the head of it, the walls lined with monitors. I sigh softly, tugging at my newest supe suit.
Vought decided my suit needed a upgrade apparently, I just didn't know the upgrade meant less fabric. The all black suit was nice, small bits of silver lining it, the small cut out in the top, showing just enough cleavage to satisfy the sex appeal they always need. The short length of it almost like a fucking bathing suit.
"Havoc!" I hear a loud voice boom behind me. I turn around seeing Homelander, his hands clasped behind his back, a wide grin on his face. "It is so good to finally meet you."
He strides over to me, holding his hand out for me to shake, which I accept. "We actually met I think last year, I performed at your annual birthday bash." I say, smiling sweetly like I was told.
Homelander snaps his fingers, his canines pronounced as he smiles at me. "That's right, you're that little singer. How could I forget?" He says, hitting his head lightly in a joking manner.
"It's no problem sir, I just wanna say thank you, I am honored to be here." I say, clasping my hands in front of me.
He strides towards the head of the large table, pulling his cape to the side as he sits. "Oh please, I would have been a fucking idiot to let anyone else in, I mean your powers," He blows a raspberry with his mouth, shaking his head slightly. "I mean wow, you can do some pretty incredible stuff, please come sit." He gestures to the chair beside him.
I walk to the chair closest to him, pulling it out to sit down. I clear my throat lightly, crossing my legs as I lean back in my chair. "Well that is truly an honor to come from you sir, I appreciate that." I reply, a small smile on my face.
"Oh please, stop with the 'sir' shit, Homelander is just fine." He says, a almost predatory grin on his face. "So, Havoc-"
"Please, call me Savannah." I interrupt him. "I prefer my real name when I ain't behind the cameras." I laugh softly.
"Oh well apologies, Savannah," He moves his hands to his lap, leaning back in his chair. "Your powers are certainly impressive, I mean being able to read minds, and yet you're not like that dumb fuck Mesmer. You can see memories, erase them. You're strong, bullet proof I heard, why haven't you tried to get into The Seven before?"
I shrug, letting out a small laugh. "I just...stuck to what I knew. Everybody wanted a little pop star, so I stayed that way." I reply.
"Where are you from again?" He asks, his voice a little loud. "That accent isn't local."
"Baton Rouge, Louisiana. I tried getting rid of it, my dialect coach quit after a month when she saw I was making no progress." I joke, pushing my long curls back from my face.
He nods his head, his eyes haven't left me once since he came in. "It's cute, the whole little southern thing you have going for you, I can see why everyone loves you now."
"I would argue not everyone loves me." I quip back, slowly rocking in my chair. He was different in person, he seemed personable, but I had heard how he could be. "Certainly not everyone can love you, right? Got to have at least a few people who want to see you fail."
His eyebrows raise up a little, he lets out a small sigh. "Of course not everyone can love you, but you certainly are the fan favorite right now." His eyes gaze over my body, making me slightly fidget in my seat. I would be lying if I said I didn't find him attractive. "I mean, you're personable, charitable, you even take care of your younger sibling right? Your younger brother?" he asks.
How did he know about that? "Yeah I do, I try to send him and my mom money as much as I can. I just wanna help anyway I can." I respond, folding my hands in my lap. "Ashley mentioned to me that you are the one who picked me." I say, tilting my head slightly.
He lets out a small laugh, nodding his head. "That I did, last time Ashley picked she chose Starlight, and well lets be honest, she's been more trouble than she's fucking worth. And then tried to bring a goddamn cripple into The Seven." He snaps harshly, scoffing loudly as he shakes his head, almost disgusted at the thought.
I let out a small laugh, kicking my foot lightly. "Well, it is an honor to be here, I wanna make sure you know how thankful I am."
His face twists in a wide smile, almost sinister, "I have no doubt you will exceed my expectations." He says, his eyes looking me over head to toe. "So, how old are you again?" Homelander asks, leaning on his forearms on the table, intertwining his fingers together.
"24, I just turned 24 a month ago." I reply, a small smile plastered on my face. I didn't feel nervous with him, just...unsure.
His eyes widen slightly, a small chuckle escaping his lips. "Well you are young aren't you? Certainly a young, beautiful woman like yourself has all kind of guys trying to date you."
I shake my head, blushing slightly. "No, not dating anyone, not interested in that whole hook up scene."
"Oh really? Why not?" Homelander asks, leaning back in his chair, rubbing his chin.
I shrug my shoulders, chuckling lightly. "When you are raised where I was, it's instilled in your brain the moment you can walk to "not be a whore." I just...don't do it." I reply, my arms resting on the chair.
He nods his head slowly, his eyes looking over my body once more. "Well, I am sure you will have tons of suitors trying to take you out."
I clear my throat, laughing awkwardly. "I don't think so, most guys find me intimidating."
"Really, I don't think that." He replies, shrugging his shoulders. "You don't look so scary to me."
I laugh softly, sighing a small breath. "Of course you wouldn't, who could you possibly find intimidating?" I ask, smirking at him.
"No one, because I'm the fucking Homelander." He quips back, smirking as he stands from his chair, walking to look out the large window, his cape swishing with each step as his back faces me. "I can do pretty much whatever I want."
"So I have heard." I reply, looking him over. His cape flowing down behind him, his hands clasped behind his back, hidden by his cape. I can't help but admire him, his presence is certainly intoxicating in person, despite how he is practically eye fucking me at times.
He snorts lightly, turning back to face me. "So Savannah, why don't you give me a little demonstration of your powers? Why don't you...pfft...I don't know...lift the table for me?" He gestures with his hands, he has a cocky grin plastered on his face, his canines fully pronounced.
I clear my throat, nodding my head. "Okay, I can do that." I outstretch my hand, it beginning to shake as my eyes shift to black, willing the table to lift up, holding it for a moment before I set it back down. My eyes shift back to their normal color, drifting over to look at him.
"Wow, do your eyes do that everytime you use your powers?" Homelander asks, pointing his index finger at me, gesturing to my eyes.
I nod my head, smiling at him. "Yep, everytime." I reply, resting my hand back in my lap. "Anything else I can demonstrate for you?" I ask, my voice soft.
He raises a brow, a grin plastered on his face. "Why don't you read my mind for me, see what I'm thinking" He says, his own tone playful, closing his eyes as he lets out a small huff of air. "Go ahead."
I inhale a small breath, closing my eyes as I focus on his thoughts. He seems to love the cleavage I have on display in my new suit. I smirk as I open my eyes, staring up at him. "You certainly approve of my new suit I see." I say, raising a brow at him.
"Vought certainly wanted to showcase your...best assets. I'm a man too Savannah, unfortunately all men think the fucking same." Homelander says, walking towards the large open door frame of the conference room. "Why don't I give you a personal tour of Vought?"
"Oh I uh...I don't know what else Ashley has planned for me today."
He rolls his eyes, chuckling as he waves his hand in dismissal at my comment. "Oh don't worry about Ashley, you aren't gonna get in trouble, come on." He says, moving his hands to rest on his hips. "Do I have to say please?"
I laugh, shaking my head as I stand to my feet. "No, uh, I would be honored to get a tour from you."
"Then come on, I wanna give you a special tour." Homelander says, raising his eyebrows slightly. He can see the way my face twists in slight confusion as I walk towards him. "Wanna make our newest member feel welcome."
I come to stand in front of him, he is much taller than me even in my heels, but to be fair, I am quite short which is why Vought insisted on the boots to begin with. "Do you do this with everybody? Give them a special tour?" I inquire, crossing my arms over my chest, slightly pushing up my cleavage.
Homelander chuckles, his eyes drifting to my chest briefly before his eyes meet mine again, shaking his head. "No, but you're not like everybody else, don't you like feeling special Savannah?" His hand comes to squeeze my arm lightly, making me look to his hand.
"I don't know, just not use to all this fuss over me really." I say honestly, watching his gloved hand fall back to his side as my eyes meet his.
Homelander begins to walk down the hall, and I follow behind him, catching up to walk beside him. "Oh please, you aren't the typical supe we usually see. You got some real special abilities, have you always been able to do all that or have you learned over time?"
"I kind of learned over time, the erasing memories and manipulating minds thing came about just a few years ago." I reply, hearing my heels click with each step, my hands clasped in front of me.
Homelander looks over to me, a predatory grin on his face. I am sure if I were to allow myself to hear what he really thought of me, I would blush crazy. "Well you certainly are a upgrade from Starlight, all she can do is manipulate some fucking lights, you are powerful." He says lowly, almost right in my ear.
I clear my throat, smiling as I look up to him, "Well thank you, I really appreciate the compliment."
Homelander chuckles, his hand coming to rest on my lower back, making me slightly jump from the contact. "I would too if I were you, I don't compliment just everyone. Takes someone...special to grab my attention Savannah." He leans over, whispering the last part in my ear.
I smile, turning to look up at him, feeling my heart rate begin to increase slightly as his hand rubs at my lower back. "Well your flattery isn't needed really." I reply, a small smirk on my face.
"Pfft, I don't have to flatter you Savannah, it's just simple facts, come on, I wanna show you something." Homelander keeps his hand on my lower back, dangerously close to my ass as I walk beside him. He leads me into their practice room, of course Vought has everything their heroes need. "I wanted to give you a real opportunity to show me your powers, see them fully."
He removes his hand from my back, walking to the center of the room. He turns swiftly, a cocky grin on his face as his hands are clasped behind his back. "Are you sure?" I ask hesitantly. "I don't wanna...hurt you." I add, my voice playful.
Homelander snorts, sighing a small breath, "You can't hurt me, come on Savannah, show me." His eyes focus on me, a smirk on his face.
I exhale a shaky breath, feeling my eyes shift to black as I outstretch my hand, sending him flying back into the wall, hearing the small groan he lets out when he hits the floor with a loud thud. "I'm sorry." I squeak out, my eyes shifting back to normal. Oh fuck, he is gonna fire me now.
He sits up, leaning up on his hands, a small smile on his face, "Don't apologize, it's what I wanna see." He stands to his feet, wiping hisself off. "I also wanna see how you do in combat." Before I can answer, his hand is on my throat in a flash, wrapped tightly around it, I let out a small noise of surprise as he grasps it.
My eyes change back to black once again, my fist raising up to land a punch to his face, seeing the way his eyes are lighting up red. I move my hand up, sending him flying back against the wall once again, gasping slightly as his hand leaves my throat, coughing as I touch my throat. Although I have to admit, the feeling of his hand on my throat had my mind drifting elsewhere .
I watch as he stands back up, a soft groan leaving his lips as he cracks his neck. "You're good...very good." He says lowly, striding towards me slowly. "Why don't you...manipulate my mind huh? Make me believe I am somewhere else." Homelander says, walking to me till his chest is almost touching mine.
I pause, my mouth hanging slightly ajar as I search for my words. "Okay, sure." I reach out, touching his temples with my hands, our bodies close together. "You're in the woods, alone." I whisper, watching his eyes slightly glaze over.
I can see him look around in awe, in his mind, that's where he is. That's what he see's when he looks around the room. After a moment, I remove my hands from his temples, watching his eyes blink rapidly as I release him. "Are you okay?" I ask him, putting a hand on his upper arm.
He chuckles loudly, clapping his hands. "Savannah, I mean wow, I wasn't expecting you to be this experienced at your age." Homelander places his hands on my shoulders, looking into my eyes deeply. "You are surely our best asset in every sense."
I grin up at him, a small blush creeping up on my cheeks, my hand leaving his arm to rest at my side. "I appreciate that very much, just wanna show you made the right decision choosing me." I reply.
"Oh I have no doubt about my decision. Hey, why don't we have drinks later this week at my penthouse?" Homelander asks, his hands moving from my shoulders down my arms. "I would love to talk with you some more."
I swallow, my mouth dry. "Uh...sure. Drinks would be nice. Just let me know whenever is best."
He squeezes my arms once more before placing his hands on his hips. "Friday, at 7 work for you?" He asks, slightly leaning closer to me.
I nod, smiling sweetly, my eyes focused on him. "That would be fine." I quickly reply, my mind swimming as I try to focus.
Homelander grins widely, letting out a small chuckle. "Great. Now, let's finish up this tour huh?"
Before I can reply, I can hear heels clicking down the hall furiously, Ashley appearing in the door way of the practice room, sighing loudly as she sees me. "There you are! I have been looking everywhere for you!" She snaps, but her tone quickly changes when she sees Homelander staring at her, a deadly look on his face. "Homelander sir...I'm sorry I didn't realize you still were uh...talking with Havoc."
He smiles suddenly, placing his hand on my lower back like earlier, walking me over to Ashley. "Just wanted to show our newest member around, no need to get your fucking panties in a wad. Do you need her?"
Ashley nods, I can practically smell the adrenaline coursing through her, her heart pounding. "Yes sir she has uh...an interview in 20 minutes." She says softly, obviously afraid of him.
Homelander sighs, rolling his eyes, his hand leaving my back as he turns to face me. "Fine, I guess I will just have to show you around later then. It was nice to meet you again Savannah." He takes my hand, planting a small kiss to it before he lets it go.
"I thank you for your time." I say, smiling up at him, seeing through his little act he put on for me. I knew how crazy he could be, how unhinged people said he was. I watch as he walks out, slightly bumping his shoulder into Ashley, who looks like she is gonna pass out. "Sorry, I didn't realize you were looking for me."
She huffs out a breath of annoyance, pinching the bridge of her nose. "It's okay just come on, we can't be late for this." She turns on her heel, almost storming out as I follow behind her.
I can feel my mind reeling, wondering just what Homelander had in mind for me. Was he just looking for a good time? Some little plaything he could try and manipulate?
I am pulled from my thoughts as we pass him in the hallway while he talks with Black Noir, watching the way his eyes roam over my body. I smile at him, waving back at Noir as we pass by. Suddenly I can hear his voice clear as day in my head, 'Fuck she is going to drive me crazy in that damn suit, her fucking tits are incredible.'
I feel my cheeks burn, my heart rate slightly rising as I continue behind Ashley, unable to really focus on what she is even saying, his voice still clouding my mind. I look behind me to look at him once more, seeing his eyes still focused on me as he talks with Black Noir.
I turn my head back around, swallowing harshly as Ashley leads me into the elevator, "Did you hear me Savannah?" She snaps.
"Sorry I just uh...was thinking I'm sorry." I apologize, seeing him wave at me before the elevator doors close shut. "I promise, I won't fuck up the interview." I add.
I can see how annoyed she is, I can't imagine the stress she is under to deal with all of this. The quiet ride in the elevator has me deep in thought, trying to figure out just why Homelander picked me to be in The Seven.
I knew this was going to be trouble, the feeling in my stomach told me everything I needed to know.
