Oh Alpha, My Alpha

Summary:

“Below the name is no series of digits, nor is there one anywhere else on the infernal piece of paper. His luck makes him want to cry. The feeling of wanting more was mutual and yet the alpha -Derek, he had a name now- had apparently been in such a rush he forgot to actually leave his number.”

Notes:

This is not nearly as long or in depth as i originally wanted, which sucks because i was actually really excited to write this in the beginning. Sadly my depression has been all over the place last month or so and has greatly affected my productivity.

I hope everyone likes what i did manage to do.

Enjoy.

Work Text:

Stiles can’t help but moan as the alpha thrusting into him continuously hit that sweet spot inside. He hadn’t caught the man’s name when they met, things having escalated as quickly as they had. But the calls of “alpha” only seem to be spurring the man on and the omega isn’t exactly complaining.

The man in question here is a random hook up from a night out at the Jungle with Danny -one who he honestly kind of hopes will stick around. He had been there for about thirty minutes when their gazes locked. It hadn’t taken much before they were dancing together, kissing, and then the man was inviting him back to his hotel room.

The fact that he was in a hotel didn’t bode well for the whole sticking around thing but it didn’t stop that nugget of hope from burying itself in the back of his brain.

“Fuck,” the alpha swore. “Gonna knot.” The man seemed to be pulling out but Stiles legs tightened around his waist and the omega released a whine at the notion.

“Birth control,” he barely managed to say through his pants. “Last heat was a month ago. Please alpha?” The man above him swore once more, his thrusts stuttering briefly at the plea.

The farther from heat an omega was the less likely they were to conceive. Add in birth control to the mix and the chances were slim to zero. It also meant a fun night for Stiles and his mystery lover.

“God yes,” the other man agreed before swooping in for a bruising kiss, swallowing any other sounds that attempted to escape the omega’s mouth.

Just as the alpha claimed he was knotting Stiles not moments later, both of them coming with shouts when they were finally locked together. Once they both managed to catch their breaths the alpha, getting his bearings a lot quicker, the older man rolled them so that the omega was laid out on his chest. Stiles couldn’t help the slight moan the shift ripped out of him.

“Hush,” the alpha whispered as he carded his fingers through Stiles’ hair. “Sleep now. I’ll take care of you, omega.” Tired and body pleasantly tingling he couldn’t help but obey the order, even if the man wasn’t truly his alpha.

It was as his eyes slipped shut that he felt the light pressure of lips against his sweaty forehead. His inner omega let out a pleased rumble as he slipped into unconsciousness.

BREAK

When he wakes up he’s no longer laying on the warm chest of an alpha. The scent of the man is still clear in the air and embedded into the sheet but his presence itself is gone. He couldn’t help the whine that left him when he realized he was alone, the omega having already attached itself to the man that had rocked his world the previous night.

Sitting up he rubbed at his eyes as the bed sheets settled around his naked waist. Pouting, he looked around and failed to find any remaining proof of his mystery engagement from last night.

With a put upon sigh he moves around the bed to try and find his phone. He finds it on the nightstand to the right of the mattress with a note on top of it.

Emergency came up

Sorry I’m not there to wake up with you

Call me

-Derek

Below the name is no series of digits, nor is there one anywhere else on the infernal piece of paper. His luck makes him want to cry. The feeling of wanting more was mutual and yet the alpha -Derek, he had a name now- had apparently been in such a rush he forgot to actually leave his number.

With a slight sniffle he reaches for his phone to see if there are any notifications. A part of him hopes that the alpha had somehow managed to put his contact information into the device -even though he definitely shouldn’t as his phone has a passcode and that would be more than a little creepy- but all he found were notifications from his father and Scott.

Both his father and his pack alpha had been wondering where he was and telling him that he was in big trouble for being late to the pack meeting. Stiles couldn’t find it in him to be worried about any of this. Yes, he should have been at the McCall house almost an hour ago but maybe this would get the two of them off of his back.

His father was traditional and had been trying to pawn him off onto the man that was at one point his best friend since he had presented. At first Scott had been against it too, even had a couple of girlfriends in between then and now, but somehow he got it into his head that mating Stiles would be the solution to all his relationship related issues.

The omega had never wanted anything more than friendship from Scott; he knew the other boy was plenty aware of this too. His father pushing for courting wasn’t helping. Maybe him coming to the pack meeting smelling like a strange alpha would be the tipping point that finally got both men to let go of their fucked up fantasy.

BREAK

When Stiles walked into the McCall house he wasn’t expecting to be slammed into a wall. Even so, one second he was mildly upset -well maybe more than just mildly upset- about not managing to find a trace of Derek’s phone number and the next he was blinking dizziness out of his eyes as his body hit drywall.

Before him stood Scott, arm against his clavicle and glaring red fiery daggers. His features were wolfish, fangs showing in a snarl. Clearly the smell of another alpha on him had more of an effect than he thought it would.

“What did you do?” the man growled at him. Stiles couldn’t help his eye roll.

“I had sex,” he said plainly. He didn’t get why Scott’s panties were in such a twist, he had been making it clear for a long time he would never be the other boy’s omega.

“You betrayed this pack.” Stiles scoffed.

“I didn’t betray anyone. Me enjoying a pleasurable night with a handsome alpha that wasn’t you is not a crime just because you don’t like it.”

“You fucked some other pack’s alpha,” the man barked, the flare of his eye somehow getting even brighter in his anger.

“I’m human,” he pointed out, “I can’t just automatically know who is and isn’t a werewolf. Not everyone is as obvious as you, Scott.”

Once again his vision shifted, only instead of being held against the wall he was now sprawled out on the floor. Instinctively he had curled around himself to try and protect himself and his stomach -something that set off alarm bells he was choosing not to dwell on.

“Leave,” Scott growled at him. “You are no longer my intended and you are no longer a member of this pack.”

“I was never either of those things,” the omega bit back as he got off the ground and dusted himself off. Not even hesitating in heading to the door he had entered from barely five minutes previously.

“I never should have fallen for an omega whore like you.”

The insult made him pause. It wasn’t like he hadn’t heard anyone say such crude things before; still, he never expected to hear such a thing from someone he used to be so close to. Someone he once thought to be his brother in all but blood.

He sent a glance over to his father -who had been nothing but silent through the whole encounter. The man didn’t look like he even wanted to attempt to defend his child. To check and see if his son was okay after being tossed around so carelessly by an alpha werewolf. That’s what truly hurt him out of all of this. The thing that made him rush out of there with tears in his eyes.

He was so upset he couldn’t even focus on the way he cupped his flat stomach to try and comfort himself as he drove away an emotional wreck.

BREAK

He probably shouldn’t have held this off for as long as he had. He knew the symptoms, had been lectured extensively both in the classes he had been forced to take when he presented and by his own father. He was just so sure it was a bug of some kind, or maybe the flu.

That line of thinking brought him to now, staring at the timer on his phone as he waited to check the pregnancy tests he had bought on amazon. He was so glad that his dad spent most of his time at the station. Then again knowing his luck this would be the time that his father suddenly chose to take some sort of interest in his only child’s life.

It was best not to jinx anything though.

As soon as the timer hit zero he rushed over to the sink, not even bothering to turn off the alarm. The box had said one line was negative and two was positive. Sure enough when he looked both tests had two lines

He could practically feel his heart stopping before it started up a second or two later.

Stiles wished more than anything that he had Derek’s number. It had only been one sex filled night but the Alpha had seemed nice enough. There was also a part of him, the expecting omega, that viewed the man as his alpha even though he really shouldn’t. Hell, he still had the note the man left him stashed away in his bedside table.

He wished even more, though, that his father wasn’t the man he was. He knew as soon as it was found that he was pregnant, unmated and pregnant to be specific, he would either be kicked out or forced to mate with someone. That someone would likely be Scott, something Stiles would never accept.

He was about a month along at this point, maybe a little more. He could get a job and he already had a scholarship to a school in New York. He was eighteen too, so he could go to the doctor and get all the things he would need to ensure that the baby was healthy without his father being any wiser.

It should probably scare him that he’s already so sure he’s going to keep the baby, but he’s not. He’s always known he wanted kids, it’s just much sooner than planned and without an alpha by his side. Not that he or any other omega needed an alpha or a partner of any sort to raise a child, of course, but he wanted one. One specific one that he would likely never be lucky enough to find ever again.

That didn’t matter though. He could do this on his own. He had perfected raising himself years ago, he can’t imagine a newborn will be much more difficult then a hyperactive ten year old. All he has to do is get a job, hide copious doctors appointments and prenatal vitamins from his father, and then flee to New York in the summer once he finally shows visible signs of pregnancy.

   Easy peasy.

BREAK

Things were not easy peasy. He was constantly nauseous and his feet and back hurt and his father barely made enough to feed the two of them not to mention a tiny fetus that demanded he stuff everything he could down his gullet. Yes, deep down he was more than happy to have this child but he would be a whole lot happier without all the bullshit that came with having a baby.

Why did he have to go and get pregnant? Why did his stupid birth control not do its job? Why the hell couldn’t his alpha -he had long given up on trying not to call Derek that- have actually left his number so he could be here through all of this too?

The only thing he could be happy about was that he had successfully managed to get a job and have it set so most of his courses at Columbia next fall would be accessible online rather than in person. Graduation was only about two weeks away, which was great, and he was already doing great at the diner. Not everyone tipped well but if he played his cards right with the asshole alphas that sometimes came in he usually got something decent.

He was also looking for something he could do in New York as well as an apartment. The only reason he wasn’t losing his scholarship for needing to live off campus was because he played up his pregnancy and may or may not have lied about having an alpha that wanted him home as much as possible. He really hoped that he never met his admissions officer in person.

The sad fact about getting a job in New York was it wouldn’t be long before he needed to go on maternity leave. Technically, given the country’s lack of care for people needing to take care of their children and recover from birthing them, that probably meant quitting. It’s fine though he can just work as many shifts as he can between now and when he can’t work anymore, the stress will be a bit difficult to deal with but at least his kid will have some form of decency to rely on.

God this was all going to suck so much. On top of that his dad was starting to get suspicious. It probably wasn’t going to be long before the man found out and kicked him to the curb. Luckily his doctor had already started transferring his files over to another OB-GYN in New York. And he had just enough saved that he could put a down payment on an apartment if he managed to find one.

He could do this. It would be hard -it already was- but he could do it. He didn’t need his father and he didn’t need Derek, even if he desperately wanted both men’s support.

BREAK

Stiles paused walking back to the kitchen as pain suddenly flared in his lower abdomen. It had been happening all day and he was trying to ignore it, he had been getting braxton hicks contractions for almost two months now, and he only had about an hour left of his shift.

“You okay, Stiles?” The voice belonged to his manager Gary.

Gary was an older man, an alpha, but he was rather sweet and sympathetic to his situation. He and his wife had their first born young, her parents were supportive while his weren’t. His wife sadly passed away a couple of years ago but Stiles had met their son who was quite nice, just like his father, and was also currently expecting. The difference was though that Thomas, Gary’s son, was mated and expecting his second born.

“Yeah, I’m fine,” his breath was punched out of him as yet another wave of pain hit.

“You are not, now take a seat.”

“I can’t,” the omega tried to reason, “table three needs refills.”

“Someone else can do that,” the older man said as he ushered Stiles over to a bar stool. “All they’ve been are assholes to you anyway.

“That’s nothing new Gary,” he sighs, glad to be off of his feet even if just for a moment.

“How often have they been happening? Seems worse than usual.”

“All day, but they’ve been happening a lot more today,” he told the alpha. “I’m sure it’s nothing. Probably just stress or something making them worse.”

“I’m not so sure about that,” the man said. “Did you have any accidents before you came into work?”

“Gary!” he all but shouted, embarrassed and with his face flaming red.

“Oh hush, I’ve been through this all before,” his boss reasoned. “Just answer the question, no need to get upset.”

“When I woke up the bed was soaked,” he muttered. He had cried about when he woke up, his hormones haywire first thing in the morning. It was also because it wasn’t the first pair of sheets he had ruined in the last few months. Having a growing human, maybe werewolf, constantly pressing on your bladder wasn’t exactly a fun experience.

   “Shit, you’re in labor Stiles.”

“What? No! They’re not supposed to be due for another month.”

“Babies don’t exactly follow time tables,” Gary informed him with an eyeroll. “Now come on, we gotta get you to a hospital.”

    “But table three-”

“Table three can shove their refills up their asses for all I care.” There was a gasp of shock from somewhere nearby, from table three probably. “You’re in labor and have been all day. The fact that you made it through almost your whole shift is a feat of its own. Now give me your car keys so I can get the go bag I know you have in the back of that god awful jeep.”

   “Hey-”

“Yeah, yeah. Don’t disrespect the car.” Stiles got another eyeroll. “Now hurry your ass up. I’m not trusting that thing not to break down on the way there so we’re taking my car.”

Stiles gave up on protesting after that, mainly because another contraction hit right as he was about to do so.

BREAK

Stiles felt like shit by the time Gary finally got them to the hospital. The contractions were all really close now and getting harder and harder to ignore. He wanted drugs and he wanted drugs quickly, though he knew how they were administered so he was a bit hesitant.

When they got to the hospital Gary did all the talking for him and Stiles gladly let him, relieved that he himself didn’t have to focus on talking to the nurses and other staff while trying to get through the pain. The omega barely had to do much more than stand there and take sharp breaths before he was ushered into a wheelchair and whisked off to a shared hospital room -one that was luckily empty at the time.

The nurses got him settled and told him he was dilated about six centimeters. Meaning he was far in the labor process but not far enough yet to be taken to a delivery room. He was actually rather happy and comfortable, minus the contractions, but then his doctor finally showed up. And because life hated him of course it was someone he had managed to avoid thinking about since he finally came to this stupid city.

Derek, his one time and mostly mystery lover.

Stiles froze as soon as he noticed just who the man was, his mind both dreading him being there and wishing he had the alpha’s arms curled around him in comfort. Derek paused too when he noticed just who was in the room. The look of pure panic that appeared on the older man’s face practically broke him, breaking out into tears on the spot.

“Shit,” the man said, rushing over to the younger man’s side but not really knowing what to do apparently.

This is of course when Gary came in. The older man, seeing a crying pregnant omega and frantic alpha, glared before moving over to Stiles and pulling him into a hug.

“What did you do?” the older alpha growled, pulling the omega into his chest so he had a comforting scent to focus on.

“I-I don’t know I walked in and he just started crying.”

The whine of ‘alpha’ that came from the omega had Derek’s face paling while Gary’s went red.

“Are you the shit stain that was too stupid to remember to leave his number,” the old man growled.

“What do you mean?” the younger alpha asked. “I left my number, he never called me.”

“I shouldn’t be the one explaining this,” Gary grumbled. “So when he calms down you are going to explain everything and then he can explain his side too.”

Derek went to retort but another cold glance quickly shut him up. The man briefly contemplated calling in another doctor as well, this was clearly a conflict of interest, but the other alpha in the room scared him enough not to.

It took about five minutes for Stiles to stop crying and even longer for him to gather the courage to revolve his face from the chest of the one comforting figure he really had in his life. Gary refused to move from the young man’s side, just crossing his arms and glaring at the other, rather sheepish, alpha in the room.

“You gonna talk or what,” the oldest of the three men eventually said.

   “I- Uh… I don’t know what to say.”

“What was the emergency?” Stiles barely whispered. He had been wanting to know from the beginning what had caused the man to be in such a rush he had forgotten to write his number down.

“Erica, my, uh,” the Alpha’s face twisted and Stiles felt his stomach tighten in dread.

“Mate?” the omega somehow got out.

“What!? No!” Derek seemed disgusted at the very prospect which made Stiles feel a little bit better. “She, my…” When a glance was thrown Gary’s way he finally understood.

“Oh, she’s your beta.” The alpha’s eyes grew wide.

“Please,” Gary scoffed. “This is New York, son. I run a hole in the wall that’s actually got some decent food, there’s not much in this city I don’t know about.”

“She called me saying she was in labor.” How coincidental. “I was only in Beacon Hills to check and see if it was still safe.” Stiles snorted. “I was thinking of maybe moving the pack back here but I was also her OB-GYN and none of the pack wanted anyone else to treat her, me included. I left the note and rushed to the airport.”

“You didn’t leave your number,” Stiles mumbled, in part because he was subdued but also because of another contraction. Derek’s face grew concerned at the signs of pain on the omega’s face but his confusion won out.

“What are you talking about, I-”

“The note said to call you but you never actually wrote your number.” Derek’s face paled.

   “Shit, so you’ve-”

“Been going through all this shit alone because you were stupid to remember how telecommunicating actually works? Yes?” Stiles barked.

   “So it’s-”

“I’ve never slept with anyone else you asshole!”

He had more to say, probably anyway, but probably the strongest contraction yet came about just as he was about to tear into his stupid ass alpha. Gary braced him as he started to curl around himself while Derek swore and paged a bunch of people to the room.

“Pretty sure it’s time,” the younger alpha commented.

“No shit, you absolute dick,” the omega threw back.

The man didn’t answer him, instead choosing to move over to the bed and lift up his blankets. He barely had time to comment before Derek was talking again.

“Okay Stiles it looks like the baby is about to start crowning, I don’t think we have time to get you to the delivery room so this will have to be done here.”

“Isn’t this a conflict of interest,” he said through a grunt of pain.

“You are absolutely right, but we don’t have enough time to get you another doctor,” the alpha told him. “And I don’t know about you but I would really like to see this baby be born.”

Despite the talk they just had and the situation Derek’s eyes were soft and there was guilt there too. Unfortunately Derek hadn’t been here when he should have, all because of some really stupid mistake, but he was here now and clearly wanted to be.

So, after a few more minutes of searching the other man’s eyes, he nodded knowing that, at least to himself, he was agreeing to so much more than just letting Derek be here as his doctor.

BREAK

As Stiles’ eyes blinked open he realized his pillow was moving. Confused he pulled away to see Derek -a sight which was much more pleasant than the last- holding a baby. It took him longer than it should have to realize that this was his baby -their baby, really.

Once he was finally lucid enough, the sleep clearing enough for him to think properly, he made grabby hands at his child. A light chuckle came from his alpha who easily handed over the baby.

“Careful,” the man whispered, “she’s sleeping.”

Stiles smiled at the use of ‘she’ before saying himself, “why was I asleep, though.”

“We think it was a combination of the stress from the day and the labor. I was worried at first but there was no bleeding or damage that could be found.” Stiles hummed at the explanation.

“Your dad left not too long ago, too.” The omega’s face scrunched up in confusion before he realized who Derek was talking about.

“Oh, Gary’s not my dad,” Stiles told him. “But he’s a good friend, a really good boss too.”

“But, why…” Derek trailed off, clearly not really sure how to ask whatever it is he wanted to ask.

“My actual father is back in Beacon Hills. Like the stelar human being he is, he kicked me out pretty much as soon as he found out I was pregnant. A lot sooner than I had hoped, sadly,” the omega sighed. “Hadn’t even found an apartment yet and I had to live in a homeless shelter for the first month I was here.”

   “That’s-”

“Yeah,” Stiles finished before him. “I was lucky I found the job at Gary’s place as quickly as I did. I’m also pretty sure he’s been paying me much more than he should but I can’t complain much. Let me get the place I have now, which is about the size of a shoe box but better than nothing.”

Then Derek said something neither of them probably thought he would.

   “Live with me.”

“Derek-” the man cut him off.

“No, I know, we have a lot to work through before we can be truly comfortable together like that. But,” the alpha placed a hand over the one resting over their daughter, “you shouldn’t have to live there and take care of our baby.”

“Elenore,” Stiles told him. “Her name is Elenore, my mom’s middle name.”

“I like it,” Derek told him with a smile. “You have been through a lot in the last nine months, I should have been there and I can be now. Please let me give you somewhere to live. We don’t have to be in the same room, hell I don’t even have to be in the apartment if you don’t want me to be, but I want to take care of you and Elenore.”

“I, uh, I wouldn’t mind if we were in the same room,” Stiles told him, not really knowing what else to say.

“Okay,” Derek grinned, squeezing the omega’s hand and looking like Stiles just gave him the greatest gift of all time.

BREAK

As soon as both he and Elenore -her full name was Elenore Laurent Hale, Hale being Derek’s last name and, eventually, one day Stiles’- were safe to be discharged the alpha whisked them off to his apartment.

The apartment was more like a giant house near the top of a very tall building. Not only was Derek an alpha werewolf and a doctor, apparently he was also loaded -it was funny all the things you could learn about the father of your child in just a few days of, truly, knowing each other.

The man’s place was also somehow fully stocked with baby items and the room that was to be the nursery was in the middle of being decorated. One of those decorations was even a mural, well the beginnings of one anyway.

“I know she has to be in the same room as us for a while,” Derek started, “so I had the pack start all of this while you were in the hospital. It shouldn’t take too long before everything is finally done, though, maybe a week or two.”

“Does your pack not live with you?” Stiles asked.

“No, we all have our own places. Erica and Boyd especially because of Tiny Boyd -Erica’s nickname for their son not mine. But everyone’s over here more often than not.”

“Do you think they’ll like me?” the omega said, nerves clear in his voice.

“They’ll love you,” Derek says, leaning in to give him a brief kiss before heading back to their room to get things a bit more settled. He was likely checking on El too who they had set down in the crip next to Derek’s bed.

Stiles stood there for a second after the kiss, a hand brought up to touch his lips. This wasn’t the first time they had kissed, technically, but in Stiles mind it was the first time they had kissed properly. It was nice, even if it was quite the surprise.

A cry sounded out though before he could dwell on anything much further. It had only been a few days but Stiles was pretty sure it was El’s hungry cry so needed to get to the bedroom before his daughter had her first meltdown.

BREAK

Derek’s pack was actually rather small with him only having three beta’s. At the moment Stiles was pretty sure he was in the trial period of being pack, especially since he was human, and it wouldn’t be known for a while if El was a werewolf or not. Derek said most werewolves don’t present until around five or so they had plenty of time to prepare if that was the case.

Erica was a bit of a firecracker and rather nosy but Boyd seemed to be able to contain the worst of her tendencies. She absolutely adored El and often seemed like she was trying to steal her from him and Derek. Isaac was shy and more than a bit standoffish but, just like with Tiny Boyd -who’s real name was Jefferson- he always had this look of awe on his face whenever he was close to El. According to Derek he was going to school to become a social worker. Boyd, Derek’s right hand and third bitten beta, was much like his alpha; silent and stoic but smart and well mannered. He seemed endlessly amused by everyone’s antics, often being a minor participant himself.

Stiles really liked the little ragtag group, though they seemed a bit hesitant around him whenever Derek or El weren’t with him. He had tried a lot to gain their respect at the very least but only Boyd seemed to even minorly enjoy his company and his alone. Derek said to give it time, every single one of them had a hard go in life and were slow to trust.

Tonight was probably his biggest attempt at trying to win their affections, or at least something that wasn’t hostility. Derek had taken El -who was now almost two months old, much to Stiles dismay at how quickly his baby girl was growing- off to a playdate with Tiny Boyd and the omega had been in the kitchen since. It was a pack night and he hoped to placate his alpha’s betas with the ungodly amount of food he prepared. It was actually just as he was putting a pie in the oven that the front door opened with the sound of Erica’s giggles.

“I swear they’re going to be soulmates,” the woman called out. He rolled his eyes, Erica had been saying this since El and Tiny Boyd first met.

“You need to stop trying to plan our childrens wedding before either of them are even a year old,” he heard Derek respond. It was all fun and games, they were sure, but the Alpha got greatly irritated at the idea of his Daughter’s choice in who she would mate being taken away.

They wouldn’t know until she hit puberty what their daughter’s second gender would be, but there was a greater chance of her being an omega or alpha given her parents’ own second genders. They would love El no matter what but they were both aware that if she were to be an omega she would be treated as less than by many a part of society; even more so because she was a, well, a she. Hell, Derek had heard what happened to him the day after they had slept together and had nearly been ready to go down to Beacon Hills to rip into Scott himself -a protective instinct that led to them having sex for the second time.

“I smell food,” another voice, Isaac’s, interrupted before Derek and Erica’s argument could go any further.

“I wonder what Stiles made,” Derek commented absently, clearly now making his way to the kitchen.

“He can cook?” was the slightly shouted and surprised response from Erica.

He frowned at the comment. He was far from the typical omega but he did enjoy his time in the kitchen. He found cooking and baking soothing and he had readily commandeered Derek’s rather fancy and state of the art kitchen.

“Hello, my omega,” Derek said as he entered the kitchen, their daughter in the crook of his arms.

“My alpha,” he greeted in kind, making grabby hands for the baby after wiping them down with some paper towels.

Derek chuckled as he handed El over -who smiled and cooed at her papa- placing a quick kiss on Stiles’ lips as he did so. They weren’t yet mated but they both knew that that’s where they were headed. It would all happen when they were ready, eventually, but they were in no rush.

“This is a lot of food,” his alpha commented as he glanced around the room.

“I do have several werewolves to feed,” Stiles told him. “Besides if this doesn’t impress the beta’s I don’t know what will,” the omega said with a self deprecating chuckle.

“Hey, none of that,” Derek tutted. “You are perfect the way you are. And if you don’t believe me I’ll call Gary to come and yell it at you.” This time his laugh was much more amused.

“Gary is very good at the whole tough love thing,” he responded.

His boss hadn’t even batted an eye at Stiles’ request for maternity leave. In fact he already had the paperwork ready by the time the omega had managed to go down to the restaurant. He was also threatened with forced care if he even attempted to come back to work earlier than necessary.

“Hey, I like you just fine,” another voice chimed as they too came into the kitchen. Looking over Derek’s shoulder Stiles saw Erica standing there with her hands on her hips.

“Gee, the insults and skepticism you voiced when you thought I couldn’t hear you sure did run that point home,” he said with a roll of his eyes.

Erica’s face turned red while Derek let out a growl, red eye’s now turned onto his beta.

“You what?” the older man said between clenched teeth.

“That was back when we first met him,” the woman tried to defend.

Stiles just scoffed, “Well, you two have fun I’m going to go feed my daughter while everyone else has their own food.”

Derek called out for him as he left the kitchen but he didn’t respond, he’d let the Alpha handle his betas but for now he just wanted to be alone with El. When they got to the nursery Stiles sat down in the rocking chair in the back right corner of the room. He managed to pull off his shirt without disturbing El much and his baby girl was quick to latch.

Male omega’s didn’t suddenly grow breasts when they got pregnant or had children, though there were probably plenty of creeps out there that hoped they did. Like with female omega’s or beta’s his chest did grow but instead of getting boobs it just looked like he focused a little too much on his pecs at the gym. Derek seemed to enjoy it about as much as Stiles enjoyed his alpha’s chest, though for much different reasons he was sure.

It wasn’t until after El was full and Stiles had managed to rocked her asleep that someone finally came to fetch him. His alpha knocked lightly on the frame of the door giving Stiles a light smile from where the omega was standing by El’s crib. When they went to bed their daughter was still in their room but for feedings, changings and naps or otherwise were all in the nursery; they wanted their baby to be as used to her room as possible before it was time to move her in here for good.

“I talked to Erica and Isaac.” Stiles hummed at the information. “For one they have to apologize for anything they said.”

“There’s no point in forced apologies,” he muttered.

“No, there isn’t,” the alpha conceited. “But I’m also forcing them to watch as you, me and Boyd eat all the delicious food you prepared as punishment.”

Stiles shook his head in amusement but then the comment brought something up in his mind.

Swearing he remarked, “Fuck the pie.”

“I smelled it before any extensive damage could be done,” Derek assured, walking over to provide a comforting hug. “It should be fine, though the crust might be a bit crispy.” Stiles groaned and buried his head into his alpha’s chest.

He had been looking forward to the pie.

BREAK

El’s crying woke him up, a full and or very uncomfortable diaper cry. He groaned lightly as he got up -seeing the clock on his nightstand reading well past two in the morning- moving over to the crib to pull his cranky lady out of her crib. When he patted her bum it seemed just like she had soiled herself rather than going number two, something he was rather grateful for.

Doing his best to hush his daughter’s whimpers Stiles tip-toed out of the room and quietly left to go to the nursery. It only took him about five minutes to get El out of her used diaper, cleaned, powdered, and into another. It was another ten before he managed to get the baby back to sleep and make his way back to his and Derek’s room. It was as he was walking back through the door that he noticed Derek’s side of the bed was empty.

With a frown Stiles laid El down in her crib, tucking her in before grabbing a shirt -yes he had been in nothing but boxer-briefs the whole time- to pull over his head. He was glad that the shirt he grabbed was his alpha’s and therefore was not only rather baggy and went down to his knees, but it also covered him in the man’s scent.

It didn’t take long for the omega to figure out where exactly the werewolf had gone -there weren’t many places he would be at this time- so when he eventually reached the man’s office he didn’t even bother knocking. Opening the door revealed Derek bent over a bunch of papers, his laptop open but no longer on to his right and a lamp on the other side of the desk being the only rather meager source of  light. The alpha also had on his reading glasses, something Stiles absolutely loved and always found humorous considering the man’s Alpha werewolf status.

With light steps Stiles walked around the desk and up behind his alpha, wrapping his arms around the older man’s neck. Derek didn’t react much in the way of words, likely having sensed the omega’s presence long before he even reached the door, he just brought one of his own hands up to wrap around the younger’s wrist and turned his head to place a kiss on the same hand.

Peering down at the papers his alpha was reviewing, one group in particular caught his eye. It was a stack all brought together with a binder clip but on the top of it was a sticky note that read ‘Beacon Hills treaty negotiations.’

“What’s all this?” the young man couldn’t help but ask, dread pulling in his stomach at just the name of his home town.

“You remember how I said I had been back in town during that first night to see if I could maybe move the pack down there. Before Erica had given birth anyway.” Stiles nodded along. Little Boyd had been a month or so premature, it was a big part of why Derek had been so panicked when he left that night. “When I found out there had been a pack there I thought that at the very least we could become allies. When you told me what they did last month I cut off the alliance plans.” The admittance made stiles give his alpha a brief squeeze and a grateful kiss on the top of his head. “The thing is I have to do it peacefully to not cause a war.”

“You werewolves and your politics,” Stiles commented. It made Derek chuckle which brought a smile to the young omega’s face.

“Tell me about it,” the man huffed. “The Beacon Hills pack hasn’t been very receptive to my rescinding our attempt at alliance. They keep trying to fight me on the decision despite me trying to be amicable and keep the break clean.”

“Scott’s always been a stubborn asshole,” Stiles muttered.

“That’s not the worst of it,” the alpha sighed.

   “Then what is?”

“They want to come up here to prove why they would be worthy of the alliance.” He could practically feel his heart stop at the news. “I’ve been doing what I can to avoid such a thing but they don’t seem to take no for an answer.”

“When-When are they going to be here,” the omega stuttered.

“I don’t know,” his alpha reluctantly admitted. “It’s inevitable at this point, as much as I hate it, but there haven’t been any formal requests to enter the territory yet.”

“Somehow I don’t think we’ll get one,” Stiles said.

“I fear the same,” Derek agreed. “Hopefully though we’ll have time to prepare before the worst happens.”

Neither of them knew just how wrong he was.

BREAK

Stiles was humming to the radio as he made breakfast. El was his back up, banging out a random beat on her high chair and sending cheerios flying all over the floor. Erica, Boyd and Tiny Boyd were all coming over for the morning; pack bonding and such.

He and Erica had mostly made up since the incident about two weeks ago. Isaac was still more than a little hesitant but he seemed more open to being around the omega than before which was progress. He and Erica had set up meal times together once or twice a week so they could get to know each other better. Sadly Erica couldn’t cook for shit so it was either him or Boyd doing it instead.

When he was just about to put his breakfast casserole -which was essentially just sausage and vegetables baked in some egg and covered in cheese- in the oven someone knocked on the front door of the apartment. Stiles frowned at the noise, none of the pack ever knocked and there wasn’t anyone else that really came over. Well Derek’s weird uncle had once but he hadn’t knocked either just kind of appeared, so he too was out.

Derek was in the shower right now, about to head out to a shift at the hospital, so sadly he couldn’t get the door while Stiles put the casserole in the oven. With a sigh the omega made his way to the door, grabbing El along the way so he could have her close rather than keeping her in the kitchen. Without thinking much about it he unlocked the front door before he opened it, freezing in place when he saw who exactly was on the other side.

Not only Scott McCall and some of his beta’s but Stiles’ father as well. It had only been three days since Derek told him about ending treaty negotiations and they had already come.

The others were also clearly surprised at his presence but the omega was able to shake off his stupor sooner, slamming and locking the door again once he had. El jumped and whined at the sudden noise but Stiles ignored it as he rushed to his and his alpha’s bathroom. The man in question was just pulling on a shirt as he rushed in.

“Stiles,” Derek said in confusion. “What’s-”

“They’re here.” The stress and fear in his voice was enough for his alpha to know exactly who he was talking about.

“Shit,” the man swore. “Okay, take El and go into the nursery. We’ll have to meet with them eventually but I’ll get them to leave for now, okay.”

   “What about-”

“Stiles, they came into my territory, straight to my den, without so much as a warning. They have no standing here and if I wanted to I could kick them out and ban them from the territory for eternity. They will leave whether they like it or not, anything they want to know can wait until we’re ready to give the information.”

Stiles took a deep breath and nodded at his alpha who gave a tight smile in return before leaving with a kiss to both Stiles and El’s foreheads. Stiles was right behind him, heading straight to the nursery. El was a bit fussy, likely sensing her papa’s distress, so he held his baby girl and did his best to soothe her as he paced the room.

He knew Derek could handle himself but it didn’t stop him from worrying about the man. Both his father and Scott had rather flippant temperaments, especially when it came to Stiles, and there was no telling how they would react to Derek being his alpha. Stiles only calmed when Derek came back to the room.

“They’re gone.” The confirmation made the omega practically deflate in relief. “Erica and the Boyds are here now too, Boyd even put the casserole in the oven for you.”

“Thank you,” he called out, knowing the beta in question would hear him.

“I texted Isaac so he’ll be here soon, and we can all talk about what’s happening when he finally gets here.”

“Okay,” Stiles sighs before allowing Derek to lead him and El back to the living room.

When he got down stairs he got sympathetic smiles from Erica and Boyd. No one really spoke while they waited for Isaac to arrive, the only voices being El and Tiny Boyd’s as the two baby’s babbled and made noises at each other. When the casserole was done Stiles just passed El over to Derek before taking it out of the oven to cool. No one was really hungry but they ate anyway, just to pass the time.

When Isaac finally got there everyone was pretty much ready to explode, just wanting to get everything out of the way. Still they let Isaac eat his own share of the casserole before they all moved to the living room.

“Tomorrow several members of the McCall pack will be meeting here with us to discuss more than a few things regarding an alliance I’ve been trying to prevent for the past month.”

“Why would you prevent us from forming a treaty with another pack?” Isaac asked. Derek was quick to look to Stiles for permission to tell the pack what happened and, though hesitant, the omega agreed.

“They were Stiles’ old pack. About a month ago, Stiles told me that they kicked him out because of the night we shared together. He also revealed that his father and the alpha had been trying to push him into a mating, one Stiles had made clear for a while he didn’t want.”

“When dad found out I was pregnant he kicked me out of the house,” the omega continued for his alpha. “Before I had been doing all I could to save enough money to put a down payment on an apartment, a lot I probably shouldn’t’ve considering it was the beginning of the pregnancy. I got accepted to a school down here and I figured this was my best bet. I had planned for him not to find out for another month or so but that didn’t happen.

“When I finally flew down here I didn’t really have a place to go so I had to sleep in a homeless shelter. I was lucky that it only took me about a week to find the job at Gary’s and that he had gone through similar things when he was teenager. I was living out of the shelter for a little over a month before I found some shitty studio. The rest you guys pretty much know.”

“Stiles was the one to open the door when the McCall pack showed up unannounced,” Derek started again. “Sadly because of this I couldn’t get them to agree to a meeting any later than tomorrow. I want all of you here as early as possible, if you really need to you can even stay the night.

“We don’t know how the McCall pack is going to react, so the babies are going to be in a separate room with someone guarding them. Isaac,” the beta straightened at the attention placed on him, “I want that guard to be you. I know you’ll do whatever you can to protect the pups.” Isaac gave a nod in affirmative.

“Erica and Boyd, you two are my right and left hands, so you need to be as prepared as possible. You being mates represents a united front and I need you to keep that impression projected throughout the talks.” Both betas agreed hastily. “Stiles, you know these people best so you’re going to have to delegate a lot of things. Will you be okay?” He gave a tight smile and agreed just like the rest of the betas.

“Alright, we have a lot we have to do in the meantime, so let’s get started.”

BREAK

“There should be a bottle ready in her bag if the meeting runs too long,” Stiles told Isaac. “And if she gets fussy at all and it’s not because El needs a change or she’s not hungry, Wolfie should help.” Stiles gestured to a small plush wolf on the dresser, it had both his and Derek’s scent practically ingrained in it -Stiles was sure El was a werewolf- and always did the trick if she wanted one of them while they weren’t there.

   “Got it,” Isaac confirmed.

   “Okay, just remember-”

“He’s got it Stiles,” Derek chuckled from behind him. “We went over all of this yesterday and when everyone woke up.”

“It’s always good to be prepared,” the omega huffed.

“I know, love,” that was the first time Derek had said that, “and we are. No one will let any harm come to the pups. Now let’s say goodbye for now and get back to the living room.”

Stiles grumbled out some minor protests but complied nonetheless, pressing a kiss to his baby girl’s head before handing her over to Isaac to watch over. They were hoping that Tiny Boyd and El could keep each other occupied for the most part but all the parents were still rather worried.

After he said his own goodbye to their daughter Derek brought Stiles to the living room where Erica and Boyd both waited as well. Derek had told the McCall pack to be there at noon and they only had about five minutes. Derek was pacing the room while Stiles sat on the couch and bit at his nails. Erica and Boyd, while clearly still nervous, seemed to be dealing with everything much better.

When a knock sounded on the front door everyone paused. Derek shared a look with everyone before going to get the door.

“Alpha McCall,” they heard Derek greet.

“Hale.” Stiles was sure he wasn’t the only one that bristled at the lack of respect Scott was showing Derek.

“Follow me.” Derek’s tone was much less amicable than before.

As he walked back into the room Stiles could tell the man was already prepared to knock some sense into the alpha werewolf. Instead Derek walked straight to the couch, stopping next to Stiles and turning to face their guests. The alpha waited until everyone else was seated before he did the same, intertwining his and his omega’s hands as he did so.

Just like Derek said, they were a united front.

Like yesterday, Scott and his father were there. There was also Allison, Lydia, and two others Stiles didn’t know. One was a teenage boy -who likely had no business here and should be in school- and an asian girl that looked to be around everyone else’s age.

“As you know,” Derek started, “I’ve been trying to peacefully disband the possibility of an alliance between us. Your pack had no reason to come down here to try and dissuade me, nor were you invited.”

“Yet it seems it was needed,” Allison scoffed, sending a glare in Stiles’ direction.

“I have to agree, Hale.” Erica growled at Scott’s continued lack of using Derek’s true title. “The omega isn’t worth all this. In fact I’m sure he’s the reason you’re even backing down, probably seduced you or something.

This time Derek was the one to let out the growl.

“Stiles wasn’t even aware of the fact that I had peace talks with you Alpha McCall. He didn’t know that I was rescinding my offer of an alliance either. The only part he played was telling me what you had done to him.”

Scott scoffed, “He was the one to betray my pack.”

“Sleeping with another alpha is not a form of betrayal, whether werewolf or not,
Derek bit back.

“It is when they’re your intended.”

“I wasn’t your intended,” Stiles barked, drawing the attention of everyone to him. “I said from the very start of my father’s attempts to start courting between us that I would never see you as a romantic partner. You were the one who changed your mind about the same thing. My father is the one that tried to push us together, not me.”

“Forgive me for trying to make you a proper Omega,” the sheriff commented. “And yet here you are bending over for yet another Alpha when the one you should have been with was left behind. What about your child,” the McCall pack all gasped, “what will they think of their whore of an Oma in the future.”

“My daughter won’t think anything other than she has two loving parents,” Derek growled, Scott and John’s eyes widening at the fact that he had claimed El as his.

“Stiles is my Omega, our child’s papa. He has done nothing but be loyal to me since he found out that he was pregnant with our daughter, even if I wasn’t aware of the situation because of something stupid I did. I will not have you insult my mate like this. So you will leave,” Scott started to protest only to have Derek roar in anger.

“You will leave! You came to my territory, my den, and disparaged my omega. You have no standing here and you never will, so get out of my home and go back to yours. And if I ever see you again, I will rip your throat out. With. My Teeth.”

Scott snarled and flashed his eyes but got up anyway, commanding his pack to follow him. Lydia, the teenage boy, and the asian girl all seemed a bit hesitant after everything that happened but followed behind everyone else.

Allison sneered as she left, saying, “Eventually he’ll bend over for someone else,” as she did so.

John was the one to lag behind.

“Your mother would be so disappointed,” the man directed at Stiles.

The comment hurt, more than anything else ever could, but still he responded, “I really don’t think I would be the one she’d be disappointed in.”

The sheriff had a guilty look flash briefly across his face but it was gone just as soon as it came. With one final glance at Derek John left the apartment and Stiles practically crumbled as he did.

He knew this likely wouldn’t be the last time they would deal with the McCall pack but as Derek pulled him into his side Stiles knew he would get through it. He had his alpha and his daughter and, though there was still much to work through, he had the rest of the pack.

As he pulled away from Derek, finally calm, he looked up at his future mate and said the words, “I love you.”

He hoped that it could be enough, that those three simple words could express just how grateful the omega was to have the man in his life.

Derek simply smiled down at him before saying, “I love you too.”

Notes:

The end is kind of sucky, at least in my opinion, but i was mostly just aiming to get this done. Like i said in the first notes section my mental health hasn't been the greatest as of late but I tired my best so.
