Work Text:

Buck plucked the black Stetson from his bed, placing it on his head before looking into the full length mirror. He was wearing a pair of light wash jeans, a little looser than he normally wore, with a blue plaid shirt, sleeves rolled up and exposing his tattoos. The look was completed with black cowboy boots and his black Stetson, coming together to form his Halloween costume.

This year, he and Eddie were cowboys. Buck thought he pulled the look off quite well.

A knock at his door a moment later had him scrambling down the loft steps to open it. The only person he was expecting was Eddie, but he had a key so Buck wasn’t sure who he’d see.

On the other side stood Eddie, and Buck’s mouth went dry. He was wearing brown cowboy boots, dark denim, a grey button down, the top 3 buttons undone to reveal delicious chest hair, and a cream Stetson.

His lips were quirked up in a lopsided smirk and Buck watched as his eyes roamed over Buck’s own outfit. Eddie made eye contact again before his smirk turned into a grin, cheeks lightly dusted pink.

“Well, don’t you just look fit for a saddle, Cowboy.” Eddie says as he walks into the loft, bypassing Buck and heading for the fridge. Buck trailed after him as if this wasn’t his own house.

“Yeah, a saddle, that’s the thing I wanna be riding tonight.” Buck mutters. He leans against the island and watches as Eddie freezes at the fridge, before turning around. His cheeks are darker pink, and he’s got a lilt to his lips, eyes sparkling. He leans into Buck’s space and he can smell Eddie’s cologne.

“Oh you mean you’d rather save a horse and ride a cowboy?” His tone dips low, suggestive, and it heats across Buck’s skin. Yes , he wants to say.

Buck hasn’t known where exactly he stands with Eddie anymore, now that they’re both single and newly realized queer men, but it has felt like they were heading towards something the past couple months. This feels like maybe it’s the natural conclusion, and Buck decides to be brave. To grab the bull by the horns, for an apt metaphor.

“Something like that.” Buck smirks and then he grabs Eddie by the belt loops, pulling him in. The kiss is slow, and languid, and it knocks both their hats off their heads but neither man pulls away to pick them up.

Buck teasingly nips at Eddie’s lower lip and he immediately opens his mouth to give more access, Buck taking this to his full advantage. He invades Eddie’s mouth with his tongue, lapping up the taste of pure Eddie, and grins as he moans. Eddie tangles a hand in Buck’s hair, tugging on it and pulling his head back to bite across Buck’s throat. This elicits a groan from Buck, deep in his chest and Eddie pulls away.

They stare at each other for a moment before Buck starts giggling which sends Eddie off and they just hold each other close, laughing.

“Forget this dumb Halloween party, let’s stay in and save some horses.” Buck says, dragging Eddie by the hand up the loft steps.
