Summary:

Logan shows off some hidden talents on an episode of Team Torque. This definitely won't have consequences later in the 2024 season.

Notes:

this one is surprisingly light! It's a set up for later in the series tho ;)

Work Text:

Logan honestly could not remember how it'd come up.

It was a normal media filming day. Alex and Logan had sat down for an hour or two with the content team and had filmed a challenge video or two before setting up for Team Torque. He honestly had no idea why they did so much media, but it wasn't like it was awful. Logan usually had fun. It was nice when the podcast guests talked with him and he had fun goofing around with Alex. It was also a chance to see another side of Logan — the one that wasn't having to fend off reporters or performing poorly at his job. He liked to think that when he was humanized just a bit more, then people tended to be nice to him. So yeah, he didn't complain about doing it too much. It was a nice distraction from how much Williams seemed to hate him. At least the content team liked him.

They'd reached the point in filming the podcast where they were no longer answering fan questions and were kind of just shooting the shit. Over the course of filming this with Alex, there'd been quite a lot of… interested sound bites. They'd somehow gotten onto the topic of secret talents and Logan opened his fat mouth like an idiot.

"I'm actually really flexible."

The words had left his mouth before he'd even had time to think. He hadn't exactly meant to say it, but the word association had just been strong. Apparently his brain to mouth filter was weak too. Great.

Alex raised an eyebrow at him. "Really," he said.

"Yeah," Logan said awkwardly, reaching up to rub at the back of his head. "I mean, I'm no gymnast or anything, but I can still do some stuff."

"Well, now you've done it, mate," Alex laughed. "You've got to show us something."

His eyes flickered over to the Williams team members sitting behind the camera but none of them even looked like this was odd at all. Then again, none of them knew about his hypermobility or why it was almost entirely kept under wraps. Well, he had been the one to get himself into this ridiculous situation so there was no one to blame but himself in the end.

Woo. Go Logan.

"I mean, I can like, do the hand thing?" he said, already leaning forward so that he could place his palm flat on the table, his fingers splayed outward. "You know, where you can turn it 360 degrees without, uh, lifting it off the table? But I mean, I think that one is pretty common," he explained as he proceeded to swirl his arm around until his hand had once more reached its initial position. He looked up, honestly a little surprised to see Alex's bug eyes. "You didn't do this as a kid?"

"Nah mate," Alex said, eyes still planted on the way Logan had twisted his arm. "That's a bit messed up."

Logan shrugged, lifting his hand off the table. "I can also do this," he said before curling his thumb over his palm so that the thumb nail went fully past the edge of his hand. He curled his fingers over the thumb before waving his hand around a little. He couldn't help but grin at Alex's vaguely nauseous look on his face. When Alex just gaped at him for a moment before looking down at his own hand and trying to mimic what Logan did. He laughed a little harder when Alex proceeded to fail.

"Nah, this is witchcraft," Alex said, appalled. There was some light chuckling from the staff watching also.

"I can also kick the back of his head," Logan blurted out again against his conscious will. He just wanted people to keep laughing and he'd always been good at being the butt of the joke. Maybe it was the American in him or something. It just always seemed to be him.

"You're joking," Alex said, his face dropping.

Logan laughed again. "No, no, I can I swear. He glanced over at the content team again and at the thumbs up he removed his headphones and carefully stepped out and around the microphone set up.

It'd been a while since he'd done this, but it'd been a neat little party trick back in karting. Then again, his peers had been a bit more flexible than they were now. He ignored Alex waving a hand at him as if to say 'go on'.

"Okay wait," he said. "Let me try something first." He plopped himself down on the ground, tucking one leg under him and the other leg behind like a vertical split — something he very much could not do fully. Letting out a small breath he leaned back and kicked up the back of his leg until he felt the tip of his foot hit his hair. He felt a small twinge in his back at the awkward angle, but he was relieved he was able to do it still. Nice.

There was a chorus of 'oo's as he held the pose for a moment before unfolding and standing up again. Then, quicker than he had time to regret, he kicked his leg up and bent just enough to tap the back of his head. The dismount was a bit less elegant and he stumbled a bit but he'd done it and he only twisted his back a little. He bashfully waved off the quiet applause and Alex's whoop.

He hurried back to his seat, knowing full well that his face was probably bright red.

"Mate," Alex said. "Since when could you do that?"

Logan shrugged, fitting his headphones back over his ear. "Kind of always just been a little more flexible. I mean, I can't really do much. Never did manage a cartwheel."

"Oh you can't do a cartwheel," Alex scoffed. "You can kick the back of your head while standing."

"Mate," Logan grinned.

Alex rolled his eyes. "Well moving on from that embarrassing show up—"
