So Amazing

Summary:

The new princess of hell is testing her boundaries and stays up late. When she is caught past her bedtime, Lucifer sings her a lullaby about the day she was born.

Notes:

Hello Sinners!

For Day 4 of FanKid Week we have a slightly older Tally. Just getting into trouble like kids do. I gotta thank my wonderful nieces and nephews for helping. The way they spoke helped with Tally's speech.

The song Lucifer sing is one of my personal favorites. It really is a good one. Its called Amazing by Janelle.

Hope you enjoy Day Four: Lullaby

Work Text:

The sounds of little hooves running in the hall echoed off the walls. The little princess looked around the corner into the library and giggled slightly. In the armchair, Lucifer seemed to be working on a new duck and next to him, Alastor was writing in his book. The little princess set her stuffed animal down and shushed it. "Okay, Mr. Naners. We gotta be quiet. We gonna scare them too much they gonna jump soo high up!"

"Who do you plan on scaring, young lady?" A disembodied filtered-voice called out. In a quick motion, a shadow tentacle wrapped the princess' waist lifting her off the ground.

A loud, auto-tuned laughter came from the captured girl. "Daddy, put me down!"

Alastor materialized from a shadow portal across the hall. His shadow opened the doors wide to reveal the duo to Lucifer. Alastor stepped into their library, carrying his daughter in front. "My King, it seems I have found an intruder that seems to have trespassed."  He set her down in front of Lucifer, her eyes large as she sheepishly looked at him.

Lucifer ran a hand over his face. "Anatolia Louise Morningstar, you were supposed to be asleep hours ago."

The little princess stood and climbed into Lucifer's lap. "Sorry, Papa. I had a dream about a big bright light then I woke up to see heaven and then it was so bright I wanted to draw it for you then I sneaked out to scare you." She grinned, proud of herself.

"Oh really? Well, I wanna see that picture but you should be in bed. You can't skip on your lessons cuz you're sleeping," the king said, rubbing her head.

"I know but I wanna see you and Daddy! Cuz you always have fun without me." She whined and hugged him tight.

Lucifer cradled her in his arms before looking up to his partner. He chuckled at her before lifting her up. "Okay, Ducky. Daddy and I know you wanna stay up but you need your rest."

She peaked up to him, eyes large and her bottom lip pouting. "But Papa..."

"No 'buts', Tally. Let's get you back to bed. When you wake up in the morning, all of us will have fun. We may go see your big sister."

She gasped and looked over to her other parent. "Can we, Daddy?"

Alastor lifted an eyebrow at the request. Both father and daughter shared identical looks of pleading. I don't see why not. Only if you go to bed this moment."

Tally giggled with a similar filtered effect as she squirmed out of Lucifer's arms. Her tiny wings helped her land on the ground as her legs sprint to the door. "I gotta get Mr. Naners! I gotta tell him we're gonna see Charlie!"

Alastor shot his partner a look through narrowed eyelids. "You are in charge of getting her back to sleep."

Lucifer held up his hands in defense. "Easy, Bambi. I'll get her to sleep and then I'll meet you in the room and.... do that thing you like."

Alastor's toothy smile widened. "Charleston or jitterbug? You know you are in trouble."

He chuckled as he stepped closer. "Yeah, well, I need to get in your good graces again. Might as well." He stood in tiptoes to kiss Al's jaw. "Besides, we both know bedtime is my job."

"Yes, because you would bore her to sleep."

He gave the black pants a slight kick in the shin. "I take back the kiss. I'll meet you in the room in a few," Lucifer called over his shoulder as he walked to the bouncing little princess. "Okay, Ducky. Let's get you to bed. No more playing around."

She nodded in his arms and waved to Alastor. "Night Daddy!"

Alastor waved them good night as he sat  back in his chair.

"Hey, Papa?" Tally asked, crawling under the covers.

"Yeah, Sweetie?" Lucifer asked, sitting by her.

"How come Daddy doesn't do bedtime? Is it cuz he's ascared of any monsters under my bed? Cause you find them, and you tell them get out!" She said, putting her head on the pillow.

"Your Dad is just not good at these things. Like when I have to work, sometimes he has to help me. It's just how people were made. But do you love him?"

She nodded as she sat up. "Yeah, I love daddy a whole lot. He is the bestest!"

Lucifer picked her up and set her in his lap, tickling her sides. "What am I?"

"You're Papa! I love you too!" She said kicking her little hooves at the tickling.

He chuckled a bit and held her close. "That's my girl. Your Daddy and I love you too, Anatolia. Never forget that. Besides, when he's mad, Daddy can be worse than any monster hiding. They are probably hiding from him."

She nodded and put her head on his shoulder. "Papa, tell me a story?"

"How about a lullaby? I know a nice song that I heard when you were born."

She gasped excitedly and nodded. "Yeah, sing it, Papa."

He chuckled as he leaned back on the headrest, rubbing her back. "Okay, Big Girl." Lucifer snapped his fingers summoning a violin, playing a gentle melody.

"The morning, cold and raining

Dark before the dawn could come

How long in twilight waiting

Longing for the rising sun.”

Lucifer ran his fingers through her hair, gentle of the two numbs at the front. He smiled at feeling her horns sprout.

"You came like crashing thunder

Breaking through these walls of stone

You came with wide eyed wonder

Into all this great unknown..."

The soothing sounds and small motions relaxed the young child. Her eyes drooped slightly as she rest into arms.

“Hush now don't you be afraid

I promise you I'll always stay

I'll never be that far away

I'm right here with you..."

A wave of his hand and the lights in the room dimmed to a soft glow. Enough to see the angelic features in the dozing girl. Lucifer's heart welled at seeing her. Even after a few years, it was hard to believe he had a second child.

"You came from heaven shining

Breath of God still flows from you

The beating heart inside me

Crumbled at this one so new"

Soon into his music, light breathing came from her chest. She was indeed sound asleep. "You do like music, Bug Girl..." Lucifer carefully shifted her in her bed and tucked her in. He placed a gentle kiss on her forehead as he finished his song.

"You're so amazing you are...

You are.*

He carefully turned off the lights completely as the music faded away. "G' night, Kiddo." He chose not to risk walking to her door but to simply vanish in a swirl of red and gold magic.
