Work Text:
Hy hummed as hy held the man under water. Occasionally hys body held flickers of the truth of hymn, like a stuttering and fading neon sign. Eyes, wings, the burning sigil that constituted hys true name. Hy wasn’t blindfolded today, and hys eyes were the only parts of him that were solidly inhuman.
Black, darker than black, with two burning rings, like a double eclipse.
Hy dragged Campion into the air, watching his face as he gasped then retched out the water that filled his lungs. A flailing limb caught the angel in the chest, but hy didn’t mind. Drowning had a way of breaking through most everything else. Campion meant no harm.
“Mm… Which do you think is better, pizza, or bagels?” Soleil’s voice was a discordant harmony, a crowding of different voices speaking through one throat. It held that vibrant quality that angels had, one that caught the attention of reality itself and made it listen.
Campion was still struggling to recover, however, unable to form a coherent response beneath the overwhelming charisma of the angel above him and the flood of terror in his blood. He babbled something in an ancient language, some prayer, some lost litany.
“You’re right, why pit two bad bitches against each other?”
Soleil smiled hys awful smile and shoved Campion back into the bathtub with an indignant splash.
