“Wow, this is really good, what did you say it’s called again?”
“Hot Cocoa, and its pretty awesome, right? I stole some real bars of chocolate from my mom’s stash to make it.”
“Well. It’s pretty cool. How do you like yours, T’Lyn?”
“It is... different from what I am used to,” said T’Lyn wobbling slightly, then slouching down in her seat.
“Oh man, we got a Vulcan down!”
“I am not down, I am still upright.”
“Yeah, well, you without a perfectly straight spine is not normal, man.”
“Mariner is right, T’Lyn, maybe you better take it easy.”
“But I am enjoying the camaraderie,” said T’Lyn, now sliding towards Mariner on her right.
“Oh man, I guess what they say about Vulcans and chocolate is right after all.”
“What do they say?”
“That chocolate is like alcohol for Vulcans.”
“And you let her drink that?!”
“It was only like half a cup, I didn’t think it would affect them this much.”
T’Lyn’s head was now on Mariner’s shoulder, and she appeared to be asleep.
“We should probably help her back to her quarters.” said Mariner.
“We can’t leave her alone, not in her condition.”
“Alright,” Mariner sighed, “she can stay with me.”
“I’ll stay too, we can both take turns checking on her.”
“Thanks, Tendi, you’re a real pal.”
The next morning Mariner came out of the shower to find T’Lyn and Tendi sitting together on Mariner’s couch. T’Lyn had her hands clasped, back straight.
“I wish to apologize for my behaviour.”
“Hey, no. It was my fault, I should’ve warned you about the chocolate in the hot cocoa.”
“I was aware.”
“You were?!” Mariner and Tendi asked at the same time.
“I was warned about certain Terrain foods before I joined Starfleet.”
“Then why’d you drink it?” asked Tendi.
“I must admit to some curiosity. However, I had not expected its effects to be quite so... potent.”
“Neither did I,” said Mariner.
“Well, you can look at this as an experiment,” said Tendi.
“Yeah, and now you’ve experienced something I bet few Vulcans ever have.”
“You have given me a new perspective. Thank you. And now, I will retire to my quarters for some quiet compilation.”
After T’Lyn left the room Tendi asked “Do you think she’ll be okay?”
“I’m sure she’s going to be fine.”
“You’re probably right, but no more strong exotic drinks.”
“Strong! You guys haven’t even tried chocolate martinis yet.”
“Mariner,” Tendi growled.
“Alright, alright. Nothing but synthehol from here on out, I promise.”
