Catching Some Sun

Summary:

Minho takes one of the inflatables from Jisung, opening the plastic valve and blowing into it to inflate it. It doesn’t take more than a few minutes for them to finish with their task, and Jisung is only grateful that Minho’s parents have floaties swimming in the pool, which means they’re only concerned with making sure Minhye has her inflatable arm bands.

“Daddies, I ready now!” Minhye runs from inside the house, a spring in her step as she flings herself to the beach chair next to them. Minho’s mom follows after her, Minhye’s dress folded neatly in her hands.

“Are you sure, Minhye?” Jisung jests lightly.

The little girl nods. “Daddy put sunblock on me at home! And Gammy has my dress!” she sees what her parents are holding, giggles, and raises her arms. “Oh, my floaties!”

Work Text:

Minho is woken up by his own sleepy groan, before he even completely grasps the situation. The mouth on the back of his shoulder trails up to his nape, peppering slow, sloppy kisses that makes Minho hum in content. There’s a hand lifting the front of his shirt up while another kneads the soft flesh of his stomach, waking him up slowly.

Teeth gently nip on the shell of his ear, then a low murmur, “Baby.”

“Hm?” Minho isn’t awake enough to give him more than that. He doesn’t need to be completely awake to melt into Jisung’s arms, inching closer to the alpha so his back is pressed to Jisung’s chest, just the way he likes it. A soft sigh tumbles off his lips when he feels something poking his lower back. “What time is it?”

He doesn’t really care. The earlier the better, because that means their little bundle of joy is still deep asleep and they can spend more time together alone.

Jisung doesn’t answer him. The alpha continues to trail kisses over the back of Minho’s bare torso and neck, playfully biting every other second until Minho moans softly. Something stirs deep in Minho’s stomach, threatening to rise up his throat, but he swallows it down before it has a chance to.

Blindly, Minho reaches behind him, simultaneously turning his head to the side while directing Jisung’s face to his so that he can kiss him. The alpha responds immediately, licking the seam between Minho’s lips until he parts them open.

Over the years, Minho has cared less and less about morning breath until he barely registers it anymore. There’s nothing quite like getting deep kisses before he’s fully awake, sleep leaving his system the more Jisung’s coconut scent fills Minho’s senses.

“You smell so sweet.” Jisung murmurs into his cheek. His hand moves from Minho’s stomach to his leg, leisurely kneading his inner thigh until Minho lifts his leg to make room for his palm.

Minho giggles, finally opening his eyes. “I smell like chocolate.”

His already-sweet scent flares when Jisung bucks his hips teasingly, his morning wood poking Minho’s ass cheek through their boxers. Jisung lifts his leg, licking the scent gland on Minho’s neck and making the omega mewl.

“Ji—” Minho gasps when Jisung slips his leg between Minho’s, the fabric of the omega’s boxers soaking up the slick that’s starting to drip from him. “Jisung.

“I haven’t even done anything yet.” Jisung chuckles, breathing right into his ear. Minho grinds down on Jisung’s thigh.

The mood is quickly killed when the door swings open, followed by the excited patter of feet making its way to the bed. Minho pushes Jisung off of him, scrambling to sit up while his husband does the same. Minho internally mourns the loss of what could have been a great way to wake up, but he quickly gets over it when he sees the bright smile of his baby girl.

“Dad and daddy!” the four-year-old babbles while she hurriedly pushes herself up on the bed to crawl up to her parents. “Daddies, time for wake up!”

Jisung opens his arms for the little girl, quickly wrapping her in a hug when she crawls over to them. “Good morning, princess. Are you excited to see Gammy and Poppy?”

Minho’s parents have been (good-naturedly) sulking about how it’s been three weeks since they last visited. Minhye loves going to their house, with its perfectly manicured front yard and garden, and the pool at the back. She says that she loves their apartment, too, because the elevator is fun and the view is nice, but she also loves running around a spacious house.

“Yes!” Minhye bubbles, she shakes Jisung’s arm, steadily holding her close to her daddy’s chest. “I miss Gammy and Poppy!”

“They miss you, too, princess.” Minho coos, leaning over his husband so that he can kiss Minhye’s head. “We’ll have breakfast first before we get ready to leave, okay?”

“Okay!” she bubbles, but doesn’t make a move to leave. In fact, she pulls on Minho’s arm until Jisung has his other arm wrapped around his back and pulls him to his side.

Jisung laughs, pulls Minho closer so he can kiss him on the head like the omega just did to Minhye. “Cuddle for five minutes then I’ll make pancakes for us.”

Minho doesn’t protest because he doesn’t want to. He lets Minhye crawl from Jisung’s lap to his, settling down on his knees while Minho melts into Jisung’s chest, eyes closed softly while he combs through Minhye’s hair to untangle the soft strands.

Whatever was stirring in Minho’s stomach minutes earlier rises back up; but this time, Minho can’t swallow it down.

“Minhye, baby, go to your dad.” he mumbles out as he lifts the tiny girl from his lap and onto Jisung, his feet already halfway out of the bed.

As inconspicuously as he can, he untangles himself from their little cuddle pile and rushes to the bathroom, letting the nausea leave him in a wave until it’s collected in the toilet bowl. He flushes it down with a grimace.

He washes his face and brushes his teeth since he’s already in the bathroom. He mentally talks himself out of thinking that he’s going to throw up for a second time before he steps out of the bathroom and finds his family already in the kitchen.

Jisung is mixing pancake batter in a bowl while Minhye is seated on the counter, watching her dad with a fascination that only a child can carry. The sight alone erases the sour traces that the nausea left in Minho’s scent, the almost-musty cocoa smell slowly turning back to the milk chocolate Minho usually carries.

He doesn’t join them, instead he settles in the living room and turns on the TV so that he can put on the morning cartoons that Minhye loves watching while eating breakfast. He finds the show immediately, so while the smell of pancakes dance in the air of the apartment, Minho peruses the selection of episodes on the screen until he finds one that he doesn’t remember watching.

“Daddy, pancakes are ready!” Minhye babbles from where she’s still perched on the kitchen counter, now with various bowls of fruit around her.

Minho watches Jisung turn the stove off before the alpha carries Minhye to help her back to the floor. “Eat as much as you want, princess. Daddy isn’t hungry yet.”

“Okay, daddy. But eat before we ready to leave.” Minhye babbles, accepts the plate of pancakes Jisung gives her, then climbs up the step-stool so she can reach the kitchen island. She effectively forgets that she’s trying to nag Minho now that she’s focused on decorating her stack of pancakes with toppings.

Jisung makes sure that she can fend for herself before he leaves her to make her own decisions. The alpha brings the rest of the pancakes to the dining table, setting it down before he crosses the rest of the apartment to sit down on the sofa, instinctively pulling Minho to his side.

“Honey, are you sick?” Jisung murmurs into his hair, rubbing his wrist over the length of Minho’s arm to soothe him with his scent. It works, because Minho melts even more into Jisung’s chest.

Minho hums dismissively, fitting his face between the alpha’s neck and shoulder so he can press his nose on his scent gland. He inhales deeply, pleasantly flooded with the smell of fresh coconuts. “You were right, I shouldn’t have eaten that last pudding cup last night.”

Jisung’s chuckle masks his concern for now. “Four cups of pudding for dessert is too much even for you, it seems.”

Jisung’s hand slides down Minho’s arm to find his hand. While Minho watches their daughter figure out her breakfast (she’s piling banana pennies and blueberries around her small stack of pancakes with a bright smile on her face), Jisung digs his thumbs over Minho’s scent gland, carefully massaging the skin. Chocolate blooms around them in waves, strong enough that even Minhye looks around in search for the source, frowning to herself when she realizes that it’s her dad’s scent and not something she can add to her breakfast.

Minho laughs at her reaction, then takes Jisung’s hand to do the same, feeling lighter now that he’s rubbing his hands over Jisung’s wrist and getting enveloped in his husband's smell. While Minho has long-since fallen in love with the sweetly intense aroma of coconuts, he’s been finding Jisung’s scent more relaxing than he has in a long while, which says a lot since he never misses a chance to dig his nose in his mate’s scent glands.

He doesn’t get off Jisung’s lap until he’s thoroughly scented, smelling more like coconut than dark chocolate—and by this time, Minhye has waddled over to the dining table with her breakfast plate and dug in. She’s too busy watching the TV to pay attention to her parents, perfectly content in her little bubble of pancakes and fruit and colourful animations.

Jisung plates a couple of pancakes for Minho once they’re seated at the dining table. Jisung goes back to the kitchen to fix two cups of coffee and one hot chocolate, gently shutting Minho down when he offered to be the one to do it.

Minho takes a handful of blueberries and raspberries, then drizzles honey over the pancakes. He eats everything, which he’s glad for because Jisung rewards him with a kiss before he collects their plates and washes the dishes while Jisung wrangles Minhye to the bathroom for a shower.

⋅•⋅⊰∙∘♡∘∙⊱⋅•⋅

Jisung loves Minho’s parents like his own. He especially loves that they shower Minhye with so much love and attention, always cradling her in their arms and playing with her energetically, always delighted to be in the presence of their beloved granddaughter. Jisung wonders how Minho hadn’t grown up spoiled when he’s the only child—an omega, at that—of such a loving, doting couple.

And it’s only because they’ve always loved Jisung as a son that Jisung doesn’t feel the distance between him and his family as much. They don’t get to visit often since they live farther away, so Jisung loves that Minho’s parents are only in the next city over, which means Minhye isn’t growing up with just her parents in her regular life.

They’re already waiting for them to arrive when Minho parks the car in front of the house, matching smiles on their faces as they wait for them to walk up to the porch. When Minhye sees her grandparents waiting, she bounces on her car seat, excited giggles falling from her mouth as she talks about how she’ll swim all day today in Gammy and Poppy’s pool.

“Gammy, Poppy!” Minhye exclaims as Jisung is helping her out of her car seat. Minho is still seated on the driver’s seat, torso bent over the console as he rummages through the overnight bag they brought to make sure that they have everything.

Jisung carries her out of the car, smiling fondly when she runs up the porch the moment her tiny feet touch the pavement. She’s dressed in a green pinafore dress Jisung’s parents bought for her, with matching slippers and a sunhat. Minho’s mother sweeps her off her feet, smiling proudly at the little girl while she reaches over to give her omega grandfather a hug, too.

Jisung helps Minho with the overnight bag, reassuring them that if they left anything, then his parents most likely have it at home, so there’s nothing to worry about. He throws the strap of the bag over his shoulder opposite Minho, then laces their fingers together as they make their way over to the porch.

“And we had pancakes for breakfast!” Minhye is telling her grandparents. “And I had banana and blueberry and hot chocolate that smells like daddy!”

Minho’s dad meets them halfway, gathering them in his arms for a hug at the same time. Minho laughs and lets go of Jisung’s hand to pat his dad on the back, and then untangles himself from the hug so that he can walk closer to his mom.

“Eomma, your back.” Minho giggles as he takes Minhye from her. Minhye follows with a matching giggle, wrapping her arms around her daddy’s neck.

“It’s not yet giving out.” she argues petulantly. The female alpha smiles at Jisung. “I’m so glad that you were able to come today. We missed you dearly.”

“We missed you, too, eomma.” Jisung chuckles. “Minhye is excited for a dip, though.”

“Swimming!” Minhye throws her hands up in the air, the unexpected action causing her to wobble in Minho’s arms. Minho is standing close to the edge of the porch, so toppling over is a likely outcome.

Jisung instinctively moves over to steady his husband, shoulders falling in relief when Minho balances Minhye by himself. While he removes Minhye’s hat from her head, he lightly regards her, “Baby, be careful.”

They move indoors soon after, Minho putting Minhye down on the living room sofa while Minho’s dad fusses over refreshments even after Jisung tells him that they’ve just had breakfast. Minho inherited his love language of food from his dad, so it’s no wonder that he already has a tray of cold orange juice, warm tea, and small sandwiches sitting in the kitchen and waiting for their arrival.

All the while, Minhye tells her parents about what she’s been up to lately: she’s learned how to tie her shoelaces, to look both ways before crossing the street (she looks after she holds her parent’s hand), and finally memorized the alphabet. Minho carefully traces his fingers along the ridges of her braid while she talks animatedly, careful not to undo his work lest he want her to start pouting.

“Daddy, can I go swim now?” Minhye looks up at him and bats her eyelashes. Minho rues the day she grows old enough to realize that she has Jisung’s eyes, because the realization that she can get him to fold with just batting her eyelashes will come soon after.

Minho hums. “Sure, princess. Dad and I will meet you outside, is that a good idea?”

She nods, swinging her feet in the air as a non-verbal cue that she wants to be put on the floor. Minho’s mom, seated on her other side, is the one that carries her down from the sofa, then takes her hand. “I’ll take her to the bathroom to get ready,” she announces, already walking off with a giggly Minhye in tow. “Lunch won’t be for another couple of hours, so she can have a quick dip before eating.”

Jisung offers to help with lunch, but Minho’s dad tells him that he already has everything handled. The smell of oven-baked chicken is already wafting in from the kitchen, and Jisung can feel Minho’s nostalgic anticipation for the dish. Minho’s dad assures them that all that’s left to do is to mash the sweet potatoes, which he can do himself, and wait for the rice and chicken to cook, so there’s really nothing that they can help him with.

After being waved away, Jisung leads Minho to the backyard, where the pool is clearly newly cleaned. He places the overnight bag on top of the table between beach chairs, then takes out a pair of arm bands that need to be inflated.

Jisung sits on one of the beach chairs first, then guides Minho to lay sideways on his lap, like he prefers, especially when he’s feeling even the slightest bit under the weather. One of Jisung’s arms wind around Minho’s back to support him, though he’s leaned against a small table to support his own weight.

Minho closes his eyes and sighs in content. “It’s nice out today. Perfect for a swim.”

“We have swimwear in the bag.” Jisung recalls, opening one of the plastic valves on an arm band. He lets Minho cradle his free hand to massage his scent gland until his coconut smell fills their senses. “You can swim with Minhye.”

Minho hums contemplatively, then shakes his head. “I wanna stay here with you.”

Jisung tips his head up to kiss the bridge of Minho’s nose. “Okay, baby, I’ll ask again after lunch.”

Jisung slips his arm under Minho’s shirt, rubbing his wrist over the skin of Minho’s lower back and reveling in the satisfied rumbling of Minho’s chest. He’s thoroughly doused in Jisung’s scent by now, tethering on the edge of scent drunk.

Minho peels himself off Jisung’s lap and takes the other arm band from the alpha so he can fasten one on each of Minhye’s arms, smiling adoringly at her when she thanks him for the inflatables. Minho thinks that it won’t be a problem to get her to attend swimming lessons (like it was for him when he was younger, which is ironic since his childhood house has a pool).

“Now, you’re ready, sweetheart.” he coos, walking her to the pool stairs where she lowers herself carefully. Minho’s mom is already seated on a beach chair, a pair of tinted glasses perched on her nose as she watches her son and granddaughter.

Minho waits by the edge of the pool until Minhye gets used to the water. It doesn’t take long before she’s playing in the shallow end of the pool, her inflatables keeping her head above water by the arms, and she’s reaching for the pool toys that Minho’s parents have dumped in the pool before they arrived.

“Dad, it’s daddy!” Minhye squeals, holding up an inflatable cat toy.

Jisung laughs, perched on the beach chair with his phone held to his chest while he records his little girl playing in the water. “It is, baby.”

Minho joins him in the chair again, slots himself in the space between Jisung’s arm and shoulder and then nuzzles his cheek onto neck. Jisung hums, pleased, and ends the recording of Minhye to pay attention to his clingy husband.

“Are you hungry?” Jisung murmurs. “I think appa is making your favourite.”

“I’m still full from breakfast,” Minho answers, a little sadly. He’s always loved his father’s cooking, so he feels the smallest bits of gloom because he doesn’t think he’ll have an empty stomach by the time lunch rolls around.

“How is Minhye enjoying pre-school?” Minho’s mother asks.

Jisung smiles. “She loves it; never goes home without a handful of stories to tell us.”

“I don’t love it.” Minho half-sulks, crossing his arms over his chest. “My baby is growing up too fast. She should still be sitting in on my dance classes and being Daddy’s little teaching assistant.”

Minho’s mom huffs playfully. “Well, my baby went on and got himself his own baby, so I don’t think he should be complaining about little Minhye going to pre-school.”

“Eomma, that’s no fair!” Minho sticks his tongue out. He tilts his head towards Jisung and pouts. “Honey, my mom doesn’t love me anymore.”

Jisung laughs. “I don’t think that’s true. Eomma loves you very much.”

“Aish, you’re aging backwards, aren’t you?” the female alpha chastises with a laugh. “I don’t know how Jisung manages to deal with a whining, sulking child and a 4 year-old all by himself.”

Jisung chortles while Minho thrashes in his hold. Minho’s mom laughs at him, then stands up to leave before Minho gets upset at her. She pats her son’s head while she passes, “I’ll call you in once lunch is ready.”

She disappears back inside the house, leaving Jisung to deal with the consequences of her actions. He doesn’t really mind having a lapful of sulking omega, so he has no qualms about pressing a kiss on Minho’s cheekbone.

“Eomma is right, you know.” he says, “You’ve been moody these days.”

Minho wrinkles his nose when Jisung kisses his other cheek. They both smell faintly of sun block, lightly covering their scents, which Minho is growing more and more bothered by as the weeks pass. Jisung doesn’t mind the sudden sulkiness or grumpiness, but he’s concerned that the omega is facing trouble at work and is stressed about it.

“I’m moody because my mother loves my child more than she loves me.” Minho argues. He turns his head to look at the pool, lips curling up into a smile when he sees Minhye seated on the pool steps and shooting a water gun. “Okay, I don’t think I can blame her. Our daughter is unbelievably loveable.”

“She gets it from you.” Jisung props his head on Minho’s shoulder to watch Minhye unscrew the cap of the water gun and submerge the toy in the pool to fill it up with water.

Minho wrinkles his nose again, this time in disdain of Jisung’s cheesiness rather than the lack of coconut in the air, but he still smiles. Jisung is right—Minho is unbelievably loveable.

“Daddies, look! Fountain!” Minhye giggles while shooting the water gun at a high angle, bright eyes watching the trajectory of the water.

“Wow, baby,” Jisung muses, matching the little girl’s smile.

They watch Minhye play around in relative silence, basking in the gentle warmth of the afternoon sun and the happy giggles of their daughter.

After a while, Minho’s mom walks out of the house, the smell of chicken and sweet potato stronger now. “Time for lunch!”

“We’ll be there, eomma!” shooting his mom a thumbs up, Minho shifts in Jisung’s lap, planting his feet on the floor and pushing himself up. “We should re-apply her sunblock first.”

Minhye gets absolutely miserable when she gets sunburned, like most people do. She cries, picks at the peeling skin, then cries some more. It breaks her parents’ hearts, which prompts Minho’s over-insistence on drowning her in copious amounts of sunblock.

He opens the overnight bag and takes out a towel and a bottle of sunblock, then calls her over. “Minhye, sweetheart, let’s dry you off before lunch.”

“Okay, daddy.” she puts down the inflatable cat and water gun, then carefully leaves the pool and walks over to where her parents are. Minho sits her down on the beach chair next to Jisung, then crouches over the side so he can dry her off and apply another layer of sunblock on her skin.

Minhye grimaces. “Daddy, it’s sticky.”

“Well, we have to put sunblock because your skin will get flaky when we don’t, remember?” Minho intones.

Minhye’s grimace grows. “I don’t like that even more.”

“The sticky lotion isn’t that bad, now, is it?” Minho laughs.

Minhye huffs.

Jisung watches Minho lather a generous amount of sunblock over Minhye’s arms, his heart at the picture in front of him. The towel is left draped over Minhye’s wet hair, a small act of teasing that Minho can’t help himself from, but Minhye doesn’t seem to mind that her sight is party-obscured.

“There you go, baby.” Minho announces. He rubs an extra gobbet of sunblock over Minhye’s shoulders, just to be sure. “We’ll apply more after eating, okay?”

Minhye nods, then jumps off the beach chair, the towel falling off her head. Minho laughs, pushing the wet strands that escaped her braid out of her face. “Okay, lunch time.”

Jisung follows after them, sliding the glass door closed once they’re back inside the house. Minhye lets go of Minho’s hand and runs deeper into the house, going to the dining room where Minho’s parents are setting the table.

“Poppy, up, please.” she babbles, raising her hands above her head and standing on her toes.

Minho’s dad coos, puts down the pitcher of iced tea, then bends down to pick her up and deposit her on the seat at the head of the table. She settles down by herself, thanking Minho’s mom when the female alpha pours iced tea on her glass.

Minho covets the honour of serving everyone, his lilting voice narrating what he’s doing. He gives his precious daughter a drumstick and his loving parents get their meat of choice, his beloved mate gets a breast part, and he gets a thigh. He claps his hands happily once they’re all served, Minhye following along with a tiny giggle.

“Thank you for the food, appa.” Jisung smiles.

The omega smiles at the praise, sliding the bowl of mashed sweet potatoes over to him. “It’s my pleasure, Jisungie. Eat up.”

They talk over their meal. Minho tells his parents about his dance classes, talking animatedly about the progress of his students, and Minho’s dad tells them about his recent reunion with his high school friends. Jisung tells Minho’s parents about Minhye’s play date with his and Minho’s friends’ children, which Minhye excitedly adds to.

“Uncle Bokkie made brownies!” she says. “They’re like tiny chocolate cakes!”

Minho’s mom simpers, “Oh, I’ve missed Felix’s brownies.”

“I’ll ask him to make some the next time we visit.” Minho promises.

Jisung reaches over to wipe rice away from the side of Minhye’s mouth. She smiles at him, then brings her spoon back to her mouth to feed herself. She still holds her spoon and fork with her entire fist, which is adorable despite being messy, but she’s already able to use chopsticks without her trainers.

After lunch, Minho insists that he’ll take charge of cleaning up. He argues with his parents a little, but they compromise—Jisung and Minhye will go back to the pool, while Minho’s parents put the dishes in the sink and Minho washes everything.

“Don’t forget her sunblock!” Minho reminds him when Jisung follows a skipping Minhye out of the house. The little girl speeds to the beach chair, pushing herself up on it and waiting for Jisung to put more sunblock on her.

“Dad, you, too.” Minhye pouts when she notices that Jisung is only applying sunblock on her. She takes the bottle from Jisung and squeezes some directly on Jisung’s arm. She ends up squeezing too much, so she smiles apologetically. “Oops.”

“That’s okay, princess. Thank you for looking out for me.” Jisung transfers the excess to his other arm and lathers the sunblock into his skin, then does the same for his legs, neck, and face under Minhye’s watchful stare.

“You’re so cute, baby.” Jisung coos once he’s done, smathering a drop of sunblock on the tip of her nose.

She laughs, wrinkles her nose in a way that resembles Minho. “That’s because my daddies love me a lot!”

“Yes, they do.” Jisung melts, his teasing tone accompanied with the truth of the statement. He pinches her cheek, careful not to apply too much pressure in fear of hurting her, before he helps her to the floor and walks her to the pool stairs.

He sits down on the edge of the pool, not caring about getting his clothes wet since he has a change of clothes packed in their bag. He could change into swimwear, but he’d rather not leave Minhye alone in the water, even if it’s for ten minutes to change. Jisung isn’t a swimmer, anyway (he doesn’t know where Minhye gets her love for swimming when neither of her parents have it, but they love seeing her happy, so all is well).

Minho and his parents join them outside ten minutes later, carrying a tray of iced tea and biscuits. They soak up the sun on the beach chairs while Minhye tires herself out, which is only an hour and a half later, when she patters out of the pool and clings to Jisung.

“Okay, baby, let’s get you showered and into dry clothes.” Jisung coos, carrying her in his arms and patting her back. He takes out the hair tie of her braid, undoing the braid carefully so that he doesn’t accidentally pull on the wet strands of hair.

Minho’s mom accompanies Jisung and Minhye to the upstairs bathroom while Minho and his dad take everything inside. Jisung makes quick work of helping Minhye shower, dress her up in her extra clothes, then lets her run off to her grandmother and changes into dry clothes himself. When he climbs down the stairs, the first thing he sees is his husband and daughter curled up on the couch, Minhye half-asleep on Minho’s chest, while Minho’s parents are already packing up side dishes for them to take home.

Minhye is losing her battle with sleep by the time Minho’s parents deem them ready to head home, Minho not far behind. He has Minhye tucked under his arm with his eyes shut, the only indication that he’s still awake is the omega’s fingers carding through her hair. Jisung takes a moment to admire them before he wakes Minho up with an apologetic smile.

“Honey, let’s go home." he lilts when Minho blinks his eyes open and looks at him sleepily. The sight makes Jisung’s smile grow.

Minho says goodbye to his parents while Jisung loads up the side dishes in the car. Sleepily, Minhye hugs her grandparents’ legs, mumbling “Goodbye, Gammy and Poppy, I had fun today.” before she yawns. Minho laughs, endeared by his daughter, then bundles her up in his arms so that she doesn’t have to walk to the car.

“We’ll see you soon, eomma and appa.” Minho lets his parents kiss him on the cheek, then his smile turns softer. “I’ll keep you updated.”

Minho’s dad pinches his cheek lovingly. “Get home safe. And get lots of rest.”

“We will.” Minho chuckles. Jisung comes up behind him, finished with transferring the side dishes to the car.

The alpha smiles at his husband’s parents. “It’s always good to see you, eomma and appa.”

“We love having you over.” the female alpha grins. “You best get on your way while it’s not too dark out yet. Don’t take another three weeks before visiting, okay?”

“We won’t.” Jisung promises. He turns to Minho and Minhye. “Let’s go home?”

Minho nods, saying goodbye to his parents one last time before he walks out of the house. Jisung follows closely behind him, then rushes to open the back door for Minho to put Minhye in her car seat. The little girl blinks her eyes open at the movement, but closes them again when she realizes that it’s just her parents buckling her in.

“I’ll drive, honey.” Jisung offers when Minho asks for the keys. The omega starts to protest, but he clicks his tongue and insists, “You drove here, I can drive home. You can take a nap in the car.”

Minho nods, a little sulky, but he doesn’t reach for the keys anymore. He sidles the car and hops in through the passenger seat, while Jisung looks back one more time to wave at Minho’s parents watching them from the porch.

Even with his reluctance, Minho falls asleep with his head against the window. Jisung makes sure to drive slowly, not wanting to wake either his daughter or his husband, even if it means that it takes an extra ten minutes before he’s parking the car. Minho murmurs something in his sleep, something Jisung can’t quite catch but he doesn’t think that it’s a coherent sentence at all. He smiles all the same, wondering if Minhye will pick up the habit as she grows up.

Jisung parks the car and wakes Minho up, kissing his cheek in a silent apology for waking him up. Minho whines softly, a hand blindly reaching out. Jisung tangles their fingers together and squeezes gently, “We’re home, baby. You can sleep in our bed. That’ll be better, right?”

Minho grunts in agreement, opening his eyes to unfasten his seatbelt. Jisung hops out of the car and opens the back door. Minho takes the overnight bag without question, slinging it over his shoulder while Jisung picks Minhye up from her car seat and carries her in his arms. She whines, similar to how Minho did minutes earlier, but she continues to doze off with her chubby cheek squished on his shoulder.

“I’m gonna wash up.” Minho announces with a sleepy pout after he unlocks the door and pushes it open for Jisung to pass through first.

“Okay, baby,” Jisung carefully hikes Minhye up on his shoulder, watching Minho close the door and lock it. “I’ll put her in bed.”

“Good night, princess.” Minho kisses Minhye’s forehead before he pads away to disappear in the bathroom, leaving Jisung to carry Minhye to her room.

Minhye wakes up long enough for Jisung to change her out of her day clothes and into freshly laundered pyjamas. He fights the urge to wake her up so she can wash up, mentally reminding himself that it’ll be harder to get her to fall back asleep than for him to go to bed with the knowledge that he didn’t wash her face and brush her teeth.

“Did you have fun, princess?” he asks her.

Minhye nods, slow because of drowsiness. “Much fun. Love Gammy and Poppy.”

“They love you, too.” Jisung muses. Minhye’s smile grows at the confirmation, sleepy eyes blinking open to look at Jisung.

“Nighty, dad. Minhye loves you.” she yawns once she’s able to jump inside her bed and throw her blanket over herself. She reaches for a stuffed bear and pulls it close to herself, hugging the toy tightly in her sleep.

Jisung fixes the fleece blanket so that it falls over her shoulders, smiling to himself when he realizes that she’s already fast asleep. He leans down and kisses her cheek, “Good night, baby. I love you, too.”

He switches on her night lamp and shuts the lights before he leaves, letting her sleep for the night. When Jisung enters his and Minho’s bedroom, the omega is already there, seated against the pillows and the duvet thrown over his legs. Jisung climbs in next to him, humming in content when Minho inches closer until he’s half-laying on Jisung’s chest.

“I thought you’d be asleep by now.” Jisung says, wrapping an arm around Minho’s shoulders to hold him closer. “You didn’t have to wait for me, honey.”

“But I wanted to wait for you.” Minho sighs, snuggling into Jisung’s chest like he can never be close enough. “Something happened.”

Jisung takes a moment to decipher the tone Minho is using. “What is it?”

Minho peels himself off Jisung’s chest but not far enough that they’re technically sitting apart. Jisung lifts a hand to brush his palm over Minho’s head, pushing his undone hair out of his forehead.

“Mom went out to buy a test while I was washing the dishes,” Minho explains with a small voice. Jisung pulls Minho’s head closer to him and kisses him on the forehead when he senses the omega’s brief hesitation. “I took it just now.”

“What test, honey?” Jisung whispers. A shadow of an idea crosses his mind but he waves it away in favour of giving Minho his full attention.

“A pregnancy test.” Minho drawls, careful with his words and how his syllables form. “Jisung, it came out positive.”

Jisung looks at him. Blinks. He takes in the small smile on Minho’s face, slowly growing the more he takes in Jisung’s expression. Minho takes Jisung’s hands off his face so that he can tangle their fingers together.

“We’re having another baby,” Minho repeats with barely-concealed happiness.

Jisung kisses Minho, deeply and slowly, until he can’t take it anymore and his mouth stretches into a smile. He feels Minho smiling, too, until they’re giggling into each other’s mouths.

“Minhye is having a sibling?” he asks, squeezing Minho flush against his chest. He can smell his scent shift to sweeter notes, showing his happiness and excitement over the news. Minho can also see the unadulterated happiness that Jisung’s expression is drowning in, reminding Minho of the first time he came to Jisung with this kind of news.

Minho nods, face buried in his shoulder, before he shifts in search of his scent gland. Jisung bares his neck and lets Minho scent him. “A baby brother or sister.”

“I love you,” Jisung murmurs. He slips his hand under Minho’s shirt and lays his palm on Minho’s stomach, heart skipping a beat at the thought of another child with the love of his life. “I love you, I love you, I love you.”

Minho giggles, kisses his scent gland, before he lifts his head to kiss Jisung again. He puts his head back on Jisung’s shoulder and looks at him through his lashes. “I love you, too.”

Jisung holds Minho to himself for several more seconds, whispering his undying love to him like a mantra, until he feels that Minho is falling asleep. He lays Minho down on the bed, tucks him in with a kiss on his forehead, before Jisung bends down to put his head on the omega’s abdomen.

“Come back up here.” Minho whines, already half-asleep, when Jisung slips his hand under his shirt. He tangles his fingers in Jisung’s hair.

“I want to stay here,” Jisung answers softly, gently trailing his hand over Minho's stomach. “I want to be with our new baby.”

Minho laughs, the air in his tone telling Jisung that he’s seconds away from falling asleep. “It’s too early for that. Be with me.

Jisung kisses his stomach, which earns him Minho’s approval and his soft snores. Jisung falls asleep with his head on Minho’s upper stomach and the omega’s hand in his hair. He’ll wake up with a stiff neck tomorrow, but that’s the last thing he’s worried about.
