The thing you need to understand about the old legends is that the stories are never truly finished and that what is written down isn't always the full story.
It has been a very slow day at Pigsy Noodles. The lunch rush has been over for a few hours now. And it was getting close to the end of Qí Xiaotian or Mk shift
Mk was just about to start packing up early only to be stopped by footsteps entering the restaurant. She was just about to turn around before Mk had someone jumping on top of her back.
“Hay Mk are you almost done with your shift I wanna go out and see this new Monkey Queen movie it just came out”
Mk looked over to Mei and gave a small smile.
“I love to Mei but tonight my mom has dinner planned for us tonight she plans on making our favorite foods”
“What. But the movie Is an interpretation of the Monkey Queen's disappearance”
Mk laughed a bit at that usually, she loves to watch anything even somewhat related to the Monkey Queen.
But when it comes to her disappearance she becomes less interested in it.
Tang, who was in the middle of eating, looked up and laughed at Mei.
“Mei, you should know by now that anything that even somewhat involved speculation or theories on the monkey Queen's disappearance MK is never going to join right?”
Pigsy looks up at Mei and says.
“Trust me, kid, stop trying to get this kid into the whole monkey queen's disappearance, it’s not gonna happen.”
“Ugh, it just doesn't make any sense. You can listen to what is considered the Monkey Queen's boringest advantages but when it comes to people coming up with reasons why she disappeared a few hundred years ago, you could care less.”
MK chuckles a bit at that seeing as it was a pretty good argument. But from all her many years she tells Mei what she always told people when they asked.
“I don't like most of the speculation on it or any of the theories. When concrete information comes to light then I’ll believe it. And the info has to be from a trusted source like a demon, god’s, or even the Buddha himself.”
Pigsy stops cooking and looks up to Mk with a proud smile.
“That's smart of you kid. It is good to not trust random sources or theories and to put your trust in trustworthy places. Though I wish you did the same thing with another type of media you're into though.”
Mei giggled at that comment but then turned over to Mk and made a dramatic pout.
“Though a dear friend of mine, I do wish you could join me next time. Going to the movies alone is boring. There is no one there to trash talk about it.”
Mk and Mei laugh
“Oh but mei my dear friend, I must head home to my mother. She is probably wondering where I am or eating my dinner as well. I must go before there is nothing left for me.”
That got both Mei and Tang to laugh even Pigsy gave a small snort before speaking up.
“Hey kid, you should invite your mom over soon. It would be nice to see her again to catch up. We could trade or even mix recipes. You and Mei could be the taste testers again.”
Tang got a smug look on his face.
“I’ll help you kid taste test it better to have more and less biased people join in. Pulse I get a few free meals out of the whole thing.
Pigsy threw a spoon with a fire in his eyes but just before Pigsy could yell MK spoke up.
“Sure pigsy she loves to but only if you promise you not gonna try to flirt with my mother again.”
Pigsy gets red in the cheeks, and Mei and Tang burst into laughter after MK said that.
“Kid, I swear I didn't mean to do that. I didn't even know she was your ma. If I had, I wouldn't have tried anything on her.”
That was true she had never shown her friends a pitcher of her mom. And MK was there so she knew he didn’t know and Pigsy immediately apologized after MK's mom gave Pigsy her last name.
But still, that was her mom, and the thought that Pigsy had found her mom attractive and tried to get with her was just no.
MK sighs and looks up to pigsy.
“I’ll invite my mom over during dinner pigsy.”
Pigsy gives a small smile and MK hears Mei and Tang say yes under their breaths.
MK gives a small wave before leaving the noodle shop. MK heads to surface lines before they leave and gets on.
MK looked out of the window to the bright bustling city she saw people listening to music, playing chess, bright holographic restaurant signs,
MK never knew how to feel about the city she loved. It had a comfort to it all and it was like her second home. But her real home with her mom was so different it was quiet and small there wasn't even any other human near them for miles.
MK let out a sigh and grabbed her phone to distract herself with anything she could before she got home and had another talk with her mom about this.
MK sees news covering something and absently clicks it so it could A make her mad and she focuses on that or B she uses it as background noise to distract herself.
“Breaking news the son of the demon bull king family has announced a fighting tournament.”
A fighting tournament?
“There will be demon royalty, even a few low and high-rank celestials there at the fighting event. Anyone is permitted to enter the event as long as they are 18 years or older. You can join at the age of 16 with a parent or guardian's permission. The five rules of the tournament are simple: no weapons, no using tools to drain an opponent's strength, no teaming up, no taking any enhancement before or during it, and lastly no killing. Now let's get to what you can do. You can use magic but you will be asked to go easy on the non-magic users. And that pretty much just makes sure it is an interesting show of strength.”
Was that it? It did sound fun to MK and she could get to meet Red Son if she is notable enough in the battle but what do you get from it?
“And the winner of the competition gets to ask the demon bull family anything they wish for. More information is on the website now for the rest of your scheduled News. Today the missing orphan Bai He has been found and is in the custody of a mysterious person. They seem to be a celestial or demon because her new legal guardian is going to be revealed on competition day.”
Now that was the final push MK needed. MK stops watching the news, goes to the competition website and starts signing up online for it with excitement…..
Once MK got to the dock she walked towards one of the less populated parts of it and reached in her pocket for her keys. Just as MK grabbed them out she heard a familiar voice.
“MK long time no see how have you been Good hopefully.”
MK turns and is met with the friendly blue giant. He was holding a tray of teas and a small brown box with him.
“Hey Sandy and yes I've been making good friends. I was just about to head home. I had dinner with my mom tonight. Oh, by the way, my mother wanted me to thank you for that blend of tea you gave her. She loves it and has been drinking it every time she meditates.”
“I’m happy to hear from that friend. I don't want to hold you from your mother for so long so I'll just give you this. It is one of my new blends to help with sleeping since you’ve been saying she's been having trouble sleeping lately. They also help with colds and flu since you guys live on a small island with little other people around. I thought it would be a nice touch.”
MK grabs the box Sandy handed over to her. She gives a small thank you to Sandy before pressing the buttons on her keys and a hoverboard swiftly flies over. MK steps on it and waves to Sandy before flying off the dock and over the sea.
Once MK is out of visible view Sandy heads back to his home…
It took a while but this was nothing MK wasn't already used to. She had been doing this for centuries. When she needed to travel to the mainland from her home.
MK grabs out a small red box and opens it to see an ancient compass with a small spike on it instead of a spoon-like thing.
She then pricks her finger on the spike and lets small drops of her blood fall into the nook and crannies. And the compass starts glowing gold and a monkey symbol appears before immediately dissipating.
The spike Then turns gold and points to a duration MK started following with a raped paces. She took a deep breath of the salty sea air well heading into the direction she had flown many times.
Once the compuse hand points to the skie and slightly in front of MK she places her hand in front of her and lets energy flow through her hand. A monkey seal appears in front of her. Opening the barrier around her home she flys through smelling ash and sulfur in the air.
The seal closed behind MK and she started making her way through the second layer of her mom's scarcity.
MK manages to set her feet on the beach looking back to the fire blasting out of the ground. Her mom went over kill with that one.
Mk makes her way to the top of the mountain and is ment with a huge waterfall. MK moves her hand and places it inside the waterfall and then the same seal appears in front of her again but this time parting the water in half making an entrance for her to go through.
MK steps through and start making her way through a few baby monkeys joining her, even climbing on her shoulder. The waterfall closed behind her and made a few turns into the cave before she was met with a small place.
MK made her way inside taking her shoes off at the entrances and then running off to a large room. MK eyes land on misty red and tan yellow traditional dresses; she stares at it for a moment before quickly putting it on. When she looks at herself in her mirror the clothing seems to resemble shrine priestess clothing though MK is pretty sure she is wearing it wrong though but she just grabs a hair ornament and rushes out of the room.
She make her way through places to the garden she walk around it looking for someone before seeing them. She runs over and jumps up on them as a surprise, only for the figure to turn around and open her arms and quickly hug MK tightly in their embreaces and ask.
“Hi sweetie, how was your day? Was it good?”
“Hi mom it was good how was your day. do you possibly need any help finishing up dinner”
Sun wukong laughs at her daughter's excitement before slightly pushing away but not before patting her daughters head. She then spoke.
“I could use your help with brewing some tea and washing and preparing some fruit for dinner dear.”
Wukong notices her daughter holding a hair ornament along with a small blue and orange box and quickly grabs it and starts placing it into her daughter's hair.
“Here sweetie let me help you put this into your hair you also don’t have your clothing on correctly”
wukong start fixing MK clothing and hair before placing her hand on her cheek and giving her a once over
“Perfect. Now let's prepare dinner dearly and mind telling me what is in that box.”
“Oh, Sandy gave me more tea for you, he said it will help you sleep.”
Wukong laughed a bit at that before grabbing MK hand and started leading her to the kitchen.
“Well then I guess we don’t need to prepare tea leaves. When you meet him next time please give him my thanks.”
They both make their way to the kitchen. Wukong starts preparing the tea and MK starts picking out the fruits and washing them. Now is the perfect time to ask.
“Hey mom, I have something to ask.”
Wukong doesn't look up “What is it sweetie”
MK takes a breath in and out
“So i was listening to the news mom and there is this fighting tournament”

MK hears her mom stop preparing tea and become silent. MK take another breath.
And I was wondering if I could join.
Wukong takes a breath and walks over to mk.
“There Something else going on with this tournament isn't there. because you know you don’t need my permission to ask to do those things.”
MK let out a sight because of course her mom had to pick up on that.
“Well yes the tournament is a demon fighting tournament. The demon bull family is hosting it and there's going to be several high ranked celestials there. So i understand if you don’t want me to join in-”
“No no sweetie you can join. I just wished to know first incase there was any danger. But if that's all I see no problem with you joining. I already taught you everything you need to know so you can join.”
MK starts smiling and hugging wukong.
“Thanks moms”
MK feel and hand pats her head
“No problems sweetie. But I'm going to be cheering you on in the audience ok.”
MK look up at her mom with shocked
“Really mom but you have barely ever left flower fruit mountain. The only time you do is for short periods of time in small, not so public areas like the noodle shop, the park, or when there is an event at my college.”
“I want to support my daughter and I would like to see how some of the celestials are doing as well. Though I will be in my disguise, maybe I could be with your friends in the seating area.”
MK leans more into her mom. MK can feel Wukong tightening her grip on them.
“Thanks mom, I'm really happy you are coming.”
“I wouldn't miss it for the world sweetie. Now let's eat dinner.”
