Prologue: Middle School Arc
Chapter 1: "The Character I Loved Most in My Previous Life"
The moment I began to realize the hidden talents of this body was when I was five years old.
To my astonishment, during my very first attempt at flash mental calculation—including in my past life—I effortlessly cleared an advanced difficulty setting: 3 digits, 15 numbers, 2.5 seconds.
"I had noticed my thought processing speed was strangely fast since reincarnating, but I never expected it to be this extreme..."
I have no memory of receiving any cheat abilities from a god in that blank white space during reincarnation, but perhaps I was granted something like "Enhanced Mental Processing Speed" without realizing it.
Just retaining memories from my past life was already cheat-level, but to be reborn in a body this brilliant... I don't even know if gods truly exist, but I can only feel gratitude. Thank you, thank you.
◇
Time passed, and I reached fourth grade.
While trying out various club activities, I discovered yet another hidden talent of this body.
"This body... its reflexes are insane."
Whether it was baseball, soccer, basketball, or tennis—any sport—I could quickly reach a level where I could defeat upperclassmen just by learning the basics. Sometimes, I even beat the teachers.
I knew I was decently athletic from excelling in P.E., but... this was beyond expectations.
From then on, I indulged my curiosity and mastered every field possible.
Thanks to my ridiculously influential and doting parents, I had professionals from various disciplines come to our home to teach me.
From board games like chess and shogi to martial arts like karate and aikido—if I was curious, they let me try it.
Of course, I also studied hard for my future.
With my past-life knowledge and the help of elite tutors my parents hired, I finished high school-level material before even leaving elementary school.
Since my past life was that of an utterly ordinary person, living in this body packed with talent was pure joy.
Sure, my parents could be too indulgent at times, but I could only feel gratitude toward them—for giving birth to this body and providing such an incredible environment.
◇
More time passed, and it was the summer of my third year in middle school.
Due to my parents' circumstances, I had to transfer to a different school.
Holding a mix of nervousness and excitement for this new environment, I visited the reception room of my soon-to-be school to complete the transfer procedures—
"You're Minase Hayate-kun, right? Nice to meet you. I'm Ichinose Honami, the student council president. Pleased to have you."
—And there she was.
The character I had loved most in my previous life.
"Ghk—!!"
"M-Minase-kun?!"
Overwhelmed by the joy and shock of meeting the real Ichinose, I collapsed on the spot.
As my consciousness faded, I saw Ichinose's panicked face rushing toward me—with nothing but a blissful smile on my own.
