Chapter Text
Kankri was tired. He had to stay late at work because one of his coworkers just had to do a no call no show. He was just too exhausted to deal with anything right now. He groans as the pounding head ache starts all over again. He just had to deal with this didn't he? The headache, the nausea, the dizzy spells. Hell he forgot where he kept his keys this morning. Sure it happens to people all of the time but not to him! He keeps it in the same place at all times just to make sure something like this never happens. He groans as he gets up. He feels like he is going to be sick again. But he knows that he's going to drop dead without some food and water in his system.
He gets up and staggers over to his fridge using the handle to support himself. Once he opens the fridge he flinches from the light as the headache increases. He takes a minute to check over what the fridge has before settling on making a bologna sandwich. After making the pitiful sandwich he gets a small glass of water and takes small sips of it hoping that his body won't reject it this time. As he takes a few nibbles he checks his phone. He had a missed message from his aunt Porrim. Sadly he was not able to read said message due to how blurry the screen was from the light coming off of it. With an irritated huff he put the phone down as that seemed to only make the headache worse.
He had finally finished the sandwich and water. It took two hours more than he liked but he was finally done. Sadly kankri had made the mistake of standing up too fast as he felt what could only be described as the feeling of impending doom. He staggered over to his bathroom and got to the toilet just in time before the water and sandwich came right back up. A noise came from the back of Kankri's throat that sounded like a pained half sob. There really wasn't anything he could do. Any more sick days from work he would get fired and he barely made enough for rent so going to the doctors was out of the question. He tried to confide in family and friends but they all said that it was just the stress from living alone for the first time and that he would get used to it. When he made it back to his room he felt exhausted as if he were about to crash right then and there. So he got into some pajamas. An oversized shirt and some sweat pants called into bed and not a second later drifted off into what he could only hope was sleep.
He didn't even register when the weird ping sounded from overhead. He barely registered when the rapid fire texting appeared over the head of this stranger. All he knew was that he felt weird and like he still needed to go to sleep.
