Serious condition (Gekko/Iso)

Work Text:

Iso has felt more than fine earlier. Despite his condition he was usually more careful with how he moves and sees, avoiding anything that might trigger his epilepsy. That more often than not meant that when his boyfriend was nearby with his crew of radivores, he had to look away or go the opposite direction. When he has to fight his boyfriend's double, he would flick his head away or duck away whenever he heard one of the radivores going off. He hasn't told Gekko, or anyone, about his condition, refusing to look weak to anyone. He didn't like special treatment, and if his time in the Scions of Hourglass taught him anything, any weakness means death.

They were on Icebox and Iso could feel his body slowing. He hasn't gotten much sleep last night, or the past few nights for that matter, since nightmares decided to attack his dreams now. The frigid wind and snow was doing a good job keeping him mostly awake, though it wouldn't last long. He could only hope they could get this done fast before he passed out and had an episode. He could hear Omen beside him on the site, keeping the Omega agents at bay until their team could rotate. Gekko was the closest, holding main, while Cypher had set up A, his trips able to cover all entryways.

“I’m flanking, see if I can pick any of them off.” Gekko said through the comms, already heading for B main.

“Sova removed.” Omens' gravelly voice cut through the comms and Iso shook his head. He could feel the drag of sleep pulling harder against his brain and eyes and backed up just as Cypher ran onto site. The Moroccan took one look at the younger duelist, and despite his mask Iso could see his frown. Before the sentinel could say anything, Omens' groan caught their attention in time to see him backing away to Yellow. Cypher quickly threw up a trip and Camera used it to figure out where they were. Iso took a step to help though his body finally just shut down, falling into the snow and a few moments later started convulsing. Omen was the first to spot him, immediately turning to Cypher and turning him roughly. Cypher's eyes went wide and he ran over to the younger agent, starting to time it and make sure he wouldn't hurt himself. Gekko came around the corner, after taking out the last two but froze when he saw his boyfriend on the ground, and Cypher hovering over.

“What happened? Is he okay?! What's going on!” Gekko yelled, racing over quickly and crouching down next to Cypher, hand hovering but not wanting to touch. Finally as Iso’s body went still Cypher took a breath.

“One minute- help roll him onto his back, support his neck, yep like that.” Cypher's voice was calm, a stark contrast to Gekko’s panic-ridden voice. Gekko followed Cypher's orders, gently lifting Iso up, and with Cypher’s help, propped him up against the wall.

“Wh-what was that? Is he okay?” Gekko asked softly, looking over at the Moroccan hoping he could explain.

“Looks like he had a seizure, as to what caused it I don't know, but he looked very bad earlier. More tired, slow.” Cypher said simply as he looked over the duelist. “No lasting effects, he will be fine, but that begs the question- is it a one time thing or is it a disorder.

The roar of the engines startled them out of their thoughts and Gekko stood up, getting ready to pick up his boyfriend, though Omen grabbed him gently.

“I got him.” Was all the ghost said before walking off, leaving Gekko standing there for a second, until a gentle hand landed on his shoulder. He turned to see Cypher beside him.

“He will be okay. Cmon let's catch up before we get let behind.” Cypher said softly, patting his shoulder gently before following behind the team. After a moment he followed behind, and when he got into the ship he saw Iso was up, with Sage checking over him. He stood hovering for a moment, until Sage finally nodded and left, with a command to take it easy and get some sleep, before checking on the other agents.

Gekko slid into the empty seat next to the duelist, who smiled faintly and leaned his head against Gekko's shoulder.

“Hey you, are you okay?” Iso asked softly, his tone fond but tired, which made Gekko scoff softly.

“Am I okay? Are YOU okay? You just passed out and then started convulsing! I thought you got hit with something new by Viper or something. What's going on babe?”

When he took a breath and straightened up, Gekko turned to him and took a hand gently, rubbing the top with his thumb.

“I have epilepsy.. with most if not all the triggers, sleepy, flashing lights, music..”

“But you listen to music?”

Iso snorted softly and nodded. “Rock, loud music triggers it, I listen to softer music. It actually keeps me calm. But… nightmares have been too much recently and I haven't slept much..”

“Oh babe- why didn't you tell me? I could've tried to help-” Gekko asked softly, taking both hands. Iso let him, staring down at their hands with an unreadable expression.

“Back in the Scions-” Iso began with a shaky voice. Realizing that he was opening up, Gekko went quiet again. “ We weren't allowed to show weakness. We had to keep it to ourselves, deal with wounds, sickness, or diseases/ disorders or conditions. If you could still work you were useful. If not-” Iso left the implication hanging there, turning away when he heard Gekko gasp softly when he connected it, before feeling a soft hand grab his chin and turn it to face the green haired man.

“You're not there anymore. You know you can ask for some time if needed, ask for help. I know it'll take some time to actually get out of that mindset but we are all behind you okay? You don't have to suffer by yourself anymore. Trust me, trust the others.” Gekko said softly but sternly, gaining a slow nod from Iso, before he started pressing soft kisses all over his face until he laughed softly. When he rested his head against Gekko's shoulder again, and felt his eyes dipping.

“Get some sleep, I'll wake you up when we get to the protocol.” Gekko said softly, rubbing the hitman's back soft until his breathing evened out, promising himself to keep a closer eye on his boyfriend
