Chapter Text
It was another day in the circus which consisted of another bizarre adventure conducted by the circus’s well known and nonsensical ringleader Caine. The cartoonish pair of dentures AI recently opened up a portal letting out the circus members out from another bizarre and hectic adventure who groaned in exhaustion and relief finally that the adventure was over.
Ragatha stepped out of the portal first, the ragdoll grabbing the strands of her red yarn hair trying to clean off the sand that got caught in it from their dry and extremely sandy adventure.
“Aw jeez! So much sand! Why?” Ragatha sighs out with a groan as it was one of the rare times she had something negative to say not being pleased that they had to deal with such a dry and hot landscape.
“I hate sand….it’s coarse and rough” Gangle muttered out in irritation trying to get the sand out of her ribbons with a groan having enough clearly not entertained from the adventure.
“It’s so irritating and it gets everywhere!” Zooble grunts out as they take some of their parts out to let out the sand with a sigh of relief glad to remove the sand finally.
“Definitely could have done without the mummies and or that curse” Ragatha says with a shudder just thinking about it.
“Ehh don’t remind me! I don’t even wanna think about that!” Zooble says with a frustrated groan her eyes narrowed in annoyance as she already had enough.
“Oh uh right sorry! It is too soon to mention that! Oh Kinger you look happy!” Ragatha says with slight surprise, smiling at the chess piece approach with a nod.
“Oh yes it was really dry but there’s also some beetles there too nothing to complain about!” Kinger says with a very pleased voice as he nodded at the ragdoll.
“That’s great! At least one of us wasn’t completely scared off by the mummies” Ragatha says with a cheerful smile as she listens to him.
“What mummies?” Kinger asked despite the fact they were just running away from the wrapped up grotesquely ancient creatures.
Ragatha sighs in exasperation before smiling softly “Never mind….oh Pomni how are you holding up” she asked the jester with concern turning her attention over to her.
“Uh oh fine” Pomni replied to her vaguely with a shrug as she seemed to be in her own little world barely paying attention despite the fact that they were just running for their lives.
“Oh uh okay” Ragatha says with a nod smiling although inside she was deeply worried and troubled about the fact that the jester seemed out of it and said short responses.
They both had talked though it the other day as Ragatha was deeply concerned that Pomni was upset with her over being on a team with Kinger rather than being on one with her but it seemed like her worries were all for nothing since Pomni didn’t seem to have any animosity or grudges against her. However it did seem like the jester was troubled by something and Ragatha couldn’t seem to get it out of her despite all of her trying and efforts. If it wasn’t for the fact that a certain purple rabbit was also having a similar behavior she would have just shrugged it off and left it alone.
The ragdoll noticed it right away the day after the gun adventure. The two haven’t interacted and avoided speaking to each other despite the fact of how close they seemed during the adventure. Hell Jax wasn’t even picking up any opportunities to pick on Gangle like he usually did or make any snark remarks. He made little comments here and there but they were always short and quick nothing rude or offensive which shocked Ragatha to her core.
It was almost like Jax was a totally different person hell she was convinced that Caine had gotten him and Evil Jax mixed up somehow and they were staying with the less rude doppelgänger but apparently that wasn’t the case.
Ragatha had her suspicions and she put together that something must have happened during the gun adventure which was causing the two to behave and act oddly. She wanted to pry it out of Pomni but deeply knew she wouldn’t get any answers from her as Pomni insisted she was ‘fine’ even if she didn’t seem like she was. The two barely talked at all and Pomni kept looking at the rabbit even though he would never look in her attention and she swore she saw Jax try to glance in her direction despite quickly looking away when he thought no one was looking.
Asking Jax was out of the question despite the fact she really wanted to ask him and try to help. She wanted to keep everyone’s spirits up and make them feel okay however there was only so much she could do.
Which is why later on that day after they had time to relax and unwind the ragdoll thought it was such a great idea to seek out Caine hoping to get his help.
“Hey uh Caine? Are you here?” Ragatha asked out loud trying to get the ringmaster’s attention looking around with a sigh.
“Yes?! What is it my dear?!!!” Caine spoke out loud appearing instantly in front of her as she yelped out loud and stepped back almost tripping over herself before taking a deep breath and looking at him with a frown.
“Wow you scared me! I needed your help with something” Ragatha says after a minute of catching her breath from being spooked looking at him with a hesitant look not even sure if what she was doing was right but she knew she had to do something.
“Yes my dear?! Did you have any great comments to make about the adventure? Anything you liked? The mummies were very immersive weren’t they?!” Caine asked enthusiastically as he awaited expectantly for her.
“Oh no! That’s not it but it’s something else. I was just concerned about Pomni and Jax, they’re both acting very strange and something seems to be bothering them.They’re not talking to each other and I’m worried they got into a big disagreement. I was just wondering if you could maybe help them? If it’s within your abilities?” The ragdoll asked him nervously, not even sure how he could help but she wasn’t going anywhere with trying to get it out of Pomni.
“Hmmmmm that is peculiar how do you want me to help? I create adventures which is all I’m good at and the last time I tried to do therapy it didn’t go very well!!!” Caine questioned as he didn’t seem to know how he could help either.
“I don’t know, maybe we can have a group talk or talk about feelings or….wait what?” Ragatha asked in genuine confusion not sure what he meant not aware he could give therapy sessions figuring that could have been helpful.
“I’m sorry but that won’t do! I’ve done enough talking and it doesn’t seem to work! Hmmm oh wait….I know!!! That sounds absolutely phenomenal! I just got the greatest idea probably the best idea I’ve ever had not that it’s that much of a stretch but wowwwiee this’ll work!!” The ringleader says enthusiastically as a lightbulb appeared over his head glowing up as he seemed to look at Ragatha gleefully.
“Oh yeah? That’s great! What is-“ Ragatha tried to ask before suddenly all the other circus members got summoned around them Gangle and Zooble beside each other on her right with Kinger on her left leaving Jax and Pomni in front of them with Caine facing all of them.
“Hello superstars!! It has come to my attention that there seems to be a squabble that’s going on and I’m here to fix it!!” The ringmaster announced to them as Gangle and Kinger look around in confusion not sure what he meant while Zooble squinted her eyes having an idea what he meant. While Ragatha sighs in exasperation knowing Pomni and Jax wasn’t going to be happy about it but if it helped them than so be it.
Pomni and Jax both look tense and had a deer in the headlights look as if they knew exactly what he meant as Pomni gulped nervously not bothering to look at Jax while Jax had that same masked grin on his face the one he always carried with him. The one he used to convince the others he was ‘The Funny one’.
“Can you repeat that? I didn’t catch that?” The rabbit asked again as if he was daring the ringmaster to say that again and at the same time ask just in case he misheard him.
“I said I heard there was a squabble and me being the absolutely best and wonderful ringmaster that I am had an idea to help you both out! Pomni and Jax!!” Caine says pointing at them, his eyeballs staring at them almost intensely.
“Yeah I thought so listen Dentures there’s no problem okay? Everybody is FINE, there's no squabble. Just because Pomni is being a wet cat right now doesn’t mean I have anything to do with it!!” The purple rabbit exclaimed with frustration as he clicked his tongue slightly as he did so.
Pomni perked up seemingly to be irritated by his comment as she immediately turned over to him with an annoyed look.
“Oh I’m sorry? Being told that we’re no longer friends and we’re all just your PLAYTHINGS makes me a wet cat? Take a good look at yourself! You’re the one who got afraid and pushed away instead of talking it out” Pomni says boldly to him with narrowed eyes as if she dared him to say anything else pointing her finger at him accusingly which just made Jax shove it away.
“Me scared?! Hahaha you wish! If anything maybe you’re the one scared that’s why you were on my team right?! You couldn’t handle to go against me right?!” Jax exclaimed with that damn wide and masked grin the one he always hid behind.
“You came to me, remember?! You don’t get to say after coming to me?! Do you make it a habit to F$?@ with people and then pretend nothing happened?! You just LOVE toying with people’s feelings?!!” Pomni asked as her voice got louder as she asked him on the verge of straight up shouting at him.
“At least I’m not the one trying to dig into other people like Ragdoll over there?! Whichever by the way, why is it any of your business anyway?! You still have to make everything your business?! Yesterday wasn’t enough prodding for you or does that not get through your stuffed head?!” Jax growled out slightly his eyes squinting at her menacingly.
“Wh-What?! N-No I just wanna help whatever is bother both of you seems to really be doing a number on both of you and I-I just wanted to help!” Ragatha says with a quiver of her mouth trying to explain herself but it seemed like talking was a tough task for her right now.
“Oh please!! As if you couldn’t get enough of yesterday! Trying to accuse me of corrupting your bestie right? Are you worried you’ll lose someone that actually believes in that in your make believe mentality? That everything will be okay when it won’t?!” Jax says back at her with a frustrated look gritting his teeth in bitterness crossing his arms.
The three other circus members watched silently Zooble shaking her head at Jax’s comments and retorts as Gangle watched with nervousness not liking when anyone argued as Kinger was in his own little world barely paying attention.
“H-Hey wait!!! That’s not fair-“ Ragatha began to say before being cut off by Caine.
“Alright that’s enough of you all!! I don’t have all day!! I was saving this adventure as a group adventure but seeing that it seems to suit you both specifically, we can make a solution for both of you!! Now skedaddle!! Go on you crazy kids! I’m sure you’ll enjoy this one and it could BENEFIT your relationship with each other!!” Caine says before forcefully shoving both Pomni and Jax through the portal.
“Heyheyheywaitttt!!!” Pomni protested trying to get Caine’s attention but was completely ignored as she heard a brief yowl which belonged to Jax as they were sucked into the unknown of Caine’s adventure.

Pomni yelped as she was launched forward grunting as her head met the floor and groaned loudly as she rubbed her head and looked around with widened eyes as she took in the scene.
She seemed to be inside a house judging by the interior as she looked around seeing that she was in the living room. There was white painted walls with pictures on the walls, some of them had weird pictures, some had pictures of cars and mannequins. It got really creepy when she discovered some of those pictures were of her and Jax which she never took with him before in romantic and intimate poses of him holding onto her around the waist and some of her hugging onto him rubbing her cheek against him which made her blush for some reason.
‘What the fuck?! Why is that happening? They’re just photos relax’ Pomni thought to herself and tried to calm herself with a long sigh as she continued to take in the living room. There were also some soft looking plush padded white couches placed in front of a tv with a recliner located next to it and in front of the couch was a coffee table with some coasters placed upon it. A bookshelf was placed neatly by the windows behind the couches with books that were alphabetically in order.
“Huh we’re in like a modern place to do what? In a house what does he want us to do-“ Pomni says before turning around with a gasp as she looks at herself seeing the outfit she was wearing as she wore a white and red blouse with blue buttons on it with a fluffy knee high white skirt. Additionally she also wore fluffy white slippers and to finish off she was wearing a blue apron with red hearts and a red house design on it.
It clicked in her head at that moment “Am I a d&$% housewife?!!!” She asked with widened eyes looking down at herself looking around.
Just as she did footsteps approached from behind her and she quickly turned around to the noise.
“What’s with all that racket?!!” Jax asked as he stepped forward as Pomni’s eyes trailed over him taking in his appearance.
He was wearing a white button up long sleeve shirt with a black tie and matching slacks with black dress shoes. He must not have taken in his appearance yet judging by the confusion on his face.
Pomni sighs out loudly and looks at herself before looking back at him “I’m a housewife and judging by your outfit you’re an office worker which means-“ she says before stopping herself looking at her hand while she was pointing at Jax with a blink noticing something shiny on her ring finger on her left hand was a silver band ring with a diamond and purple gems on it as she took in the sight.
“Oh you’re married? Congratulations whose the lucky-“ Jax says mockingly about to poke fun at her before shutting up as he raises his hand as well with widened eyes seeing a golden wedding band around on his ring finger on his left hand which had red and blue gems on it.
“……”
“……”
There was a long silence that made the air even more tense with the racing emotions going on with them as suddenly Jax let out a frustrated yell as he immediately tried to pull the ring off.
“S#%&@ this!!! I’m not being tied down!! Caine get us out of here” Jax says trying his best to get the ring off with all his might but despite all of his effort it wasn’t gonna come off.
“Hang on…maybe there like a brief explaining all this!” Pomni says remembering about the previous adventures when they were lost and didn’t know what to do.
“I don’t care just get this d@$# ring off!!” Jax shouts with a growl as he continues to fail at removing it.
Pomni looks around before sighing in relief as she find the brief and reads it aloud to him.
“Hello my superstars this adventure is called Welcome to married life!! You both will be in charge of managing your married life and working as a team!! Isn’t that fun?!! Pomni your role is the housewife make sure to keep that house clean and tidy and provide for your husband!! Jax your role is the hardworking and doting husband!! Provide financial stability for the both of you and to support your wife since she is taking care of the house! Provide each other and work as a team and before you ask yes there is a grading system to keep this fair and square!! The only way you’ll both win this is to finish your task which is on this sheet!! You have five days together in this house! The better you work together the quicker you’ll be finish until then good luck newlyweds!” Pomni finishes as she hesitantly takes a look at Jax who looked like he was close to loosing his shit.
“Okay….I’m gonna go to sleep now and hope this is a dream and if it isn’t then good luck because I want nothing to do with this!!! Also I’m taking the bed you can have the couch goodnight!!” Jax says quickly before scurrying over to the bedroom and locking it after himself slamming the door shut.
Pomni takes a deep breath taking a look at the wall clock noticing it was seven o’clock p.m. which most likely meant tomorrow would count as the first day seeing as it was just about night time.
Pomni sighs as she lays down on the couch wrapping herself with a blanket as she lays there not too upset that Jax took the bed since the couch was very comfortable itself with the plush cushions.
She yawns, feeling sleep taking her as she wonders how they were gonna do this. Jax definitely wasn’t husband material but she wasn’t exactly wife material either to be fair she never ever thought what it would be like to settle down and be a housewife hopefully it wasn’t much harder than accounting right? A girl could certainly hope……
