Chapter Text
“Minaru?”
“Yes?”
Link picked up some of the loot dropped from the camp of monsters he just took out. He had called upon all the sages to help him since he didn’t really feel like dealing with them all by himself. The sage avatars were already put away but Link kept Minaru in her construct form.
“What…” He struggled to find the words. “What do you think would happen if someone took your secret stone from your construct?”
She didn’t answer right away, so Link continued grabbing items until they were all collected.
Finally, Minaru answered. “I believe nothing bad would happen to me, if that’s what you’re wondering.”
She shifted towards Link, “I suppose my construct would collapse and my soul would go back into the Purah Pad, same as if you unsummon the construct.”
“Hmm.”
“Why do you ask?”
“Just curious is all.”
They stood there in silence for a moment as Minaru eyed Link, trying to figure out the reason behind his question.
If she could smirk in this form, she would have. “Would you like to hold my secret stone?”
“Really!? I- I mean- uh, only if you’re okay with it…” Link looked away from embarrassment and ran his hand through his hair.
Minaru chuckled, “Of course, I don’t see the problem with it. I was planning on giving it to you anyways.”
He turned back to her. “…You were?”
She nodded, “Yes. I’m not planning on staying here long after the defeat of the Demon King, which means my secret stone won’t be of use to me anymore. I’ve seen how you act and I know you’re more than qualified for the job of keeping it safe.”
Link smiled at her words.
“Plus,” she continued, “the stone may react to you. If it does, I believe it would be ideal for you to practice using it now rather than later. It may help you fight the Demon King.”
He eyed her stone. “…When do you…”
“Now is fine. I do not mind.” The construct kneeled down to allow him to access the secret stone better.
“Are you- your- your sure you’re fine with-“
She laughed. “You’re very selfless and caring.”
“So I’ve been told.”
“Take it. I’m very sure of my decision. If nothing happens or you wish to have it back, all you have to do is place it back into the slot you’re taking it out of.” She pointed to the stone.
“If I take it out, you won’t have control over your construct to help me.”
“That may be true, but I’ve never been as useful to you as the other sages.” Link opened his mouth but she continued speaking before he could argue. “No need to argue, I understand that my construct is hard to control and not your style. You prefer to do things quickly and my construct isn’t built for that fighting style."
After a moment of hesitation and consideration, Link finally caved and took out the secret stone. Once in his hand, the construct collapsed and Minaru’s soul went into the Purah Pad, just like she’d said. He tapped the ring on his middle finger and the construct dissolved.
Link inspected the stone for a moment before putting it into the Purah Pad to be dealt with at a later time. Link didn’t really want to experiment with it at the moment (despite wanting Minaru to allow him to) so he’ll mess around in the next few days.
Link sat down in Tabantha Frontier, looking over Rito Village, and examined the secret stone. It had been about 3 days since Minaru allowed him to take it and this was the first time he sat down to actually experiment with it.
He held the stone in his hands for a few minutes, waiting for the stone to react in some way, but nothing special happened. This was odd considering the experiment Purah had done with the other sages.
Because of her researching tendencies, she had convinced Sidon to allow her to hold his secret stone, knowing that Purah had no power. When she held it, the stone faded to white and lost its engraving after about two minutes. Afterwards, when she gave it back to Sidon, the stone had floated in the air for a second before snapping back onto his wrist.
Comparing that knowledge to what Link was doing, he had expected the stone to react the same to him as it did to Purah. But nothing had happened, it looked the same as it had when he took it from the construct. For it to stay like this was… not concerning, but definitely interesting.
Link sighed and got up. Maybe he’ll talk with Purah about this, it has been a bit since they’ve last talked, with him running around Hyrule and all.
He was about to put the stone back into the slate when it suddenly flew out of his hand, glowing a bright teal, and latched itself onto the back of his Zonai hand.
Link didn’t have time to think before his vision was consumed by a bright, white light.
