Soukoku’s guide on kidnapping, I mean ADOPTING orphans

Summary:

Harry Potter did not know what to expect when the Dursleys brought him with to the cafe that had blown up recently on social media. Much less did he expect that the owner of the cafe would turn out to be the Port mafia boss, and get this. He was ADOPTED by the Port mafia boss as well! (He also sued the Dursleys for child neglect but that’s mostly irrelevant right now).

This is my second published work on A03, I try not to make any spelling or grammar mistakes but there might still be some because I don’t have a beta reader but that’s fine.

Notes:

Hi, thank you for clicking on my work :D. I wrote this first chapter across multiple months because of my lack of motivation😔, updates might be slow now I hope you enjoy reading!

Chapter 1: The meeting of The Boy Who Lived and the former Demon Prodigy

Chapter Text

It was just another boring outing for Harry, the Dursley’s were forced to take Harry out because Marge was unable to babysit him due to her being out of the country.

There were many dark clouds in the grey sky this afternoon, people were lining up at the new cafe in town. It was the ideal place for just about anyone, the whole cafe was based off of those cafes you see in cozy cafe games. The colour palette consisted of a large range of colours.
Recently it gained a lot of popularity after the cafe got an official Twitter account and uploaded tons of advertisements and highlights of each day at the cafe, the owner of it had a few pets and often posted about them. The few Yokohamans who saw the account instantly recognised the owners and unbeknownst to any outsiders, the owner of this nice cafe was none other than the the Port Mafia boss himself:

Osamu Dazai.

Years later, Harry would look back on this moment, not exactly regretting meeting the Port mafia boss and later, his right hand man. One of the turning points in his life whether for the better or worse.

As Harry and the Dursleys entered the cafe the sweet aroma that hangs in the air captures his attention. In his life he never had just about anything sweet so of course he just stared intensely at the beautiful double chocolate cake. It was a light chocolate brown, not super dark like dark chocolate but not almost white like white chocolate either. It was a special order for the day and as soon as Dudley’s greedy little eyes fell upon the masterpiece of a cake, he instantly screamed at his parents saying he wanted that cake.

“MUMMY, DADDY, I WANT THIS CAKE!” Dudley shouted so loud Harry thought his eardrums were about to burst as he ran up to the glass box encasing the cake.

“Oh Dudley hun, don’t you think it’ll be too much for you?” Aunt Petunia tried and failed to get Dudley to try a less sweet dessert but Dudley insisted on just that specific cake.

Eventually Harry’s aunt and uncle gave in and agreed to get Dudley the double chocolate cake. Harry watched as they walked up to the counter to order and pay for it, his eyes locked onto the man-behind-the-counters, the man’s eyes were dark. It was like looking into an empty shell of a person, almost like he was staring into an endless void inside his . His expression was neutral but a hint of annoyance could be seen inside the dark empty voids in place of the man’s eyes.

As Harry was looking at him, the man turned around and locked eyes with Harry and smiled warmly.

His eyes were still empty but there was now a friendly air around him, the man put on a warm smile and walked up behind the counter where the Dursley’s were still standing, Dudley staring intensely at the cake while his parents were murmuring to each other about something but Harry could tell that whatever they were saying, it definitely wasn’t good.

While Harry was deep in thought, a voice took him out of his thoughts.

“Hello, how may I help you?” The man with dark eyes but now with a polite smile plastered on said.

“Ah, just 1 double chocolate cake. Make it quickly as well.” Uncle Vernon said, the man nodded then gestured his hand toward the EFTPOS machine sitting on the counter. Harry took his attention off his uncle to look around the cafe itself while the Dursley’s were busy.

The first thing he noticed about the cafe was that it was definitely designed to have as many shelves whether it be for plants, books, etc. Despite there being an insane amount of items scattered around the cafe, it was still very neat and tidy which felt slightly refreshing.

The walls were coloured mainly a light grey, not too bright but also not too dark. There were booths lined up all the way to the wall on the far side of the cafe. Each booth with exactly half a meter gap between them and each taking up around 2 meters if Harry were to guess.

While Harry was busy taking in the details of the cafe’s interior, the man had finished taking Vernon’s order and was silently analysing Harry. His eyes had a hint of curiosity seeing Harry’s lightning bolt shaped scar on the right side of his face.

After a while, the man decided to approach Harry. Making no sound as he made his way to the corner Harry was in, Harry was scanning through the book titles, his face showed slight confusion when he saw a copy of “All you need to know about suicide” and “A guide to suicide” on the shelves. It definitely wasn’t the kind of books people usually put on their shelves but what does he know? He doesn’t exactly own any books anyway.

Harry almost jumped out of his skin when the brown haired man lightly tapped him on the shoulder.

“Hey, you seem kind of lonely over here. What’s your name?” He said

Harry turned around to face him,
“Um… it’s Harry sir.”
“No last name?” The man tilted his head like a curious dog would.
Harry was wary. Which is normal considering you shouldn’t tell a stranger you’ve never met before your name after all. Despite Harry’s better judgement, he decided to answer anyway because the surname ‘Potter’ wasn’t exactly rare anyway.

“It’s Potter. Harry Potter” He replied nervously, because who knows, this man could be a secret murderer (he is actually).

“Well hello Harry, I’m Dazai. Dazai Osamu.”
Harry just nodded in return, not sure what to say. This was a pretty awkward interaction in general.

Harry had no idea then but this man, would change his life forever. For better or for worse, still unclear.
