Protector of time and ruler alongside former princess Ravonna Renslayer, The protector of time uses the weapons formerly used by the mad conqueror known as Kang to help shape the tide of the battle and fix the Chronoverse once and for all. Capable of healing the wounds of his allies and stunning his enemies with the control of the timestream, the hero formerly known as Iron Lad does his best to help his allies and make up for the eons of terror his former self has caused to an infinite number of timelines.
Lore.
Nathaniel " Nate " Richards.
Once forced by destiny itself to become the mad conqueror known as Kang, Nathaniel Richards alongside Princess Ravonna Renslayer managed to overthrow that destiny and rid at the very least his timeline from the parasite known as The Conqueror. Helping the monarch of Chronopolis on fixing the life of their citizens and making the city with many time periods to become the utopia Kang always wanted it to be without doing his madness, Nathaniel still feels empty.
He was once known on the cosmos he comes from as Iron Lad, the leader and founder of the Young Avengers. But the emptiness on his soul had to wait, for now. as now doning the name of the time period Kang hated the most, Immortus ; Protector of time. he had to suffer his first challenge as the protector of the timestream : The convergence of timelines caused by the two Victor Von Doom's. The utopia of Chronopolis was one of the many realms that ended up converging on a timeline where gods and demons fought, Although Nathaniel knew that timeline. It was where he met his first friends, the Young Avengers. And to add more salt to the wound, that parasite himself and Queen Renslayer had fought for so long to get rid of had come back.
The parasitic conqueror had returned to claim his rightful throne on the utopia of Chronopolis.
Hero History.
The Strings of Time.
Chronopolis was once the idea of an utopia created by the conqueror that now terrorizes it. Both the monarch and the advisor had the idea to move it away from the shadow of the conqueror, those times were gone. The times of Baltag, Kang and his forces were gone. Now, Chronopolis was a refuge for the very few people alive on the timeline of gods and monsters fighting and the forces of Kang who swore loyalty to the monarch.
But now, between a Rock and a hard place. against the orders of the monarch Renslayer and her parlament, Immortus came down to Earth, to the place known as New York.
In the desperation of looking for his friends, Nathaniel had found another " old pal " of his. As he kept walking, ignoring that person with everything he could. but the demon was more insistent.
" Conqueror.. or shall i say protector now? Been a while since our last meeting, Immortus. " The demon, or rather, the son of Mephisto walked alongside the protector of time with a smirk on his face.
" Blackheart, I am on a rush here. Jonas, scan for bodies, or living signs, OR ANYTHING. " Immortus gritted his teeth as he walked, ignoring everything happening around him, only being followed by the son of Mephisto.
" Oh please, Immortus.. aren't we on first name basis, Honey? " Blackheart smirked while walking alongside Immortus, with his hands on his back.
Nathaniel stayed silent for some seconds, mainly because of the " first name basis " he and Blackheart were on, they had meet way back. and sure, maybe spend lot of time together. To the point it could be said that he had a romantic relationship with the son of Mephisto, The protector of time sighed while looking at the paviment of the destroyed cities of New York.
" Hello to you too, Gabriel. " Immortus let out a little tired smile while listening to the results of the scans of Jonas around the area.
" To where do you go with such hurry, Nathaniel? Aren't you here to enjoy the party that is happening in this beautiful place? " Blackheart then had a realization on the intentions of Immortus on this place as he leaned on his shoulder with a smirk. " Ah, your friends. How loyalty you have, Immortus. "
" Bingo, Gabriel. Now please, i am in a hurry. Aren't you scared that the rider would be around to end your life? " Nathaniel said while adding a little more speed to each step he took, now that Jonas told him there is decreasing life signs near the Avengers Mansion.
" Ah yes, the flaminghead idiot with the bike. Please, Neither of the four of those Riders care enough for me to stop punishing the other demons. " Blackheart catched up as quickly as he could to Immortus.
Immortus didn't continued the conversation any longer, he kept walking through the desertic and apocalyptic view of New York, until he got to the Avengers Mansion. destroyed, walking through it. all it could feel was the scent of death, Someone with a chrome-dome and a fornid body complexity, the entire mansion destroyed. And outside, in the gardens. Immortus stared there, as he shouted.
" Jonas, Chronopolis. Now. " The protector of time shouted as he ran towards the destroyed garden, seeing what used to be his friends on their last moments, almost gone. almost dead.
Blackheart watched Nathaniel and the almost lifeless bodies of his friends, taking in the sight with a smirk. It was an opportunity, yes. an oppportunity to manipulate the protector of time, It was ethical? Absolutely not. yet.. there was an opportunity. Jonas, on the other hand. just simply answered to Immortus, with concern.
" Nathaniel, if we bring their bodies, we could cause a paradox. The monarch will be annoyed with us, we would lose the respect and confidence of the citizens of Chronopolis! " Jonas answered with a concerned tone on his voice, the A.I. wanted to save his friends ; Yes. However, They had a job as protectors of time.
" I WILL TALK THIS OUT WITH RAVONNA, JONAS! We NEED to save our friends. Kate, Eli, Billy, Tommy, Teddy.. CASSIE?! " Nathaniel realized there was one body missing as he ran towards the garden in panic, looking for Cassie all around. Blackheart was enjoying this all, knowing the revelation the protector will be getting in the next minutes could be of great use.
Nathaniel passed through a set of bushes as his entire soul was taken out the moment he saw that, once again ; The woman he loved. Once again, gone. Deceased. Jonas was also speechless.
Then, Jonas decided to finally follow the orders of his creators, creating a portal towards the timestream. As Immortus simply moved, without saying a thing. Not to Blackheart, not to Jonas. Only creating a method of transportation with his neurokinetic armor for the bodies of his friends ; Still alive fortunately. and then, creating a special one, only for Cassie.
Before Nathaniel went back to the utopia, Blackheart smirked as he looked towards Immortus. saying the words that most people on the chronoverse would repeat to him over and over again.
" Careful for the path you take, Protector. The obsession and devotion that i always found so endearing and beautiful ends up being the quality that makes you as much obsessive like the conqueror. "
Immortus looked at Gabriel once more, pain on his eyes. but decided to not put too much attention, because, sadly. Gabriel was right, this day was just an obstacle more on him becoming the parasite that he was trying to rid the chronoverse of.
