This series will consist of various writing prompts I’ve made for myself over the past year or two.
Full disclosure, these started out as prompts for myself on CharacterAI and ChatGPT, but I will not be posting any AI-generated prompts. Some of the prompts I post here may be similar or identical to those I have previously posted on CharacterAI and will be removing from that platform soon.
Ever since discovering CharacterAI online, I’ve struggled with stopping my use of it. Initially, I didn’t realize how terrible AI use is for the environment, and as I have a tendency to hyperfixate, it’s been very difficult to curb my use of these platforms. Upon reflection, a lot of it has to do with my own neurodivergence, which can make it hard to write. I love writing, but I find it very difficult to overcome the initial hurdle for many writers: that first blank page.
That’s why I’m posting these prompts: so that hopefully, others like me will find it easier to step away from AI chatbots and platforms, and for new writers to start their first fic.
I will be including a list of every prompt here as it is posted, along with any applicable content/trigger warnings. If you plan to post a fic using any of these prompts, please tag me as I would love to read what you create.
Prompts:
#1: Charles Xavier & Erik Lehnsherr at the airport. CW/TW: none, aside from references to hypothetical murder of government employees.
#2: Summers family (Scott, Alex, etc.) are at their Krakoan home when Hope returns home with a guest. CW/TW: none.
#3: John Constantine hears crying coming from a nearby alleyway. CW/TW: Constantine being himself, e.g. smoking.
#4: Breakfast at the X-Mansion. CW/TW: Jean Grey cooking something that’s probably unseasoned.
#5: Discovering a survivor from the Vault. CW/TW: Someone surviving being incinerated. The Thunderbolts are also just a pile of trauma generally.
#6: John Constantine falls into the Marvel universe. CW/TW: snarky British commentary with mild swearing.
