Work Text:

"It was for your own good!"

The words caused Narinder to freeze, staring at the crown, his crown. Shock and disbelief was written all over his face at the words from someone who had been his companion for so long. Death's form shifted and he stood head to head with the other, a near identical form if not for the singular eye staring him down.

"You were imprisioned! Frozen in chains! For all your power, our power, you could not escape! And what would have happened if I had returned to you?! What if someone else chained you down?!" Death was cut off by the sight of Narinder's lips curling.

"For my own good?" Narinder echoed the being's words. "Being betrayed by not only my vessel, but my very own crown. Losing almost all of my strength, forced into this mortal form, forced to be at bended knee to my usurper- this is all for my own good?" His shoulders shook as he threw his head back laughing. "Of course! This humiliation is all for my own good! I should be grateful being made a pitiful follower in a cult that's supposed to be MINE!"

"Narinder-"

"Silence!" He snapped, ignoring the burn of his eyes. "I see now whose side you're on. I see now that all that time, those years, training, working together, I see they don't mean anything."

"That's a lie and you know it!" Death protested. "I did this because I CARED! You weren't happy or safe!"

"IF YOU CARED YOU WOULDN'T HAVE ABANDONED ME JUST LIKE MY FUCKING SIBLINGS!" The fallen god roared at his crown. "You would have come back to me, you wouldn't have followed the Lamb in their betrayal! But you did! You willingly struck down my kits! You willingly struck me down!" He choked at the last part, wrapping his arms around himself in a mockery of a hug.

"You struck me down..." He repeated, lips forming a trembling smile as he was unable to stop the tears this time as they build up. "H-haah... I shouldn't be surprised, right? It was bound to happen-"

"Narinder wait-" No, no, no, this wasn't how this was supposed to go! Death took a step forward only to freeze at the vicious glare in the trio of tear filled ruby eyes.

"If my own family who had known me longer that you had could betray me, why should I expect you to be different? I'm sure Aym and Baal would have done the same eventually..." Narinder chuckled to himself.

"That's not-!"

"I must thank you, then, Death, for reminding me of that. I shouldn't trust anyone, they all betray in the end." Narinder pulled his hood up and turned on his heel. "This conversation is over."

"Narinder-"

"OVER!" He snarled over his shoulder. "I never want to speak with you or that wretched lamb ever again! If I see either of you, I'll find a way to shatter you!" Not letting Death get another word out, he ran.

Notes:

And Narinder has left the cult! Permanently! He sees Lamb and/or Death anywhere outside it and he WILL attempt to kill them REPEATEDLY!

Man deserves to keep his rage and hate and I will continue to say that forever. You don't get betrayed by those you care for and just "get over" it.
