Chapter Text
Usami stared at Yuusaku. The young man held the rank of Second Lieutenant and quickly became the pride and joy of the 7th division. It wasn’t hard to understand why everyone seemed to like him so much. He was always seen smiling with a positive attitude. He also strived to be kind to everyone, even those who didn’t deserve a shred of his kindness. That was what drew Usami to him. Yuusaku was too kind for his own good and much more reactive than his older brother. Ogata would only glare at him, maybe even smirk when he injured Usami. That was just on a good day. Usami was looking for a new toy to play with since First Lieutenant Tsurumi was busy.
Yuusaku and Ogata were eating lunch together. The restaurant was obviously Yuusaku's choice. It was more than likely that Ogata only went along with leaving base for lunch because Yuusaku proposed the idea. Ogata still had a mission that he had to complete. He sat perfectly still across the table, occasionally moving to eat his own food as Yuusaku talked and talked. It was ridiculous seeing Ogata acting like a normal person. He wasn’t fit to be Yuusaku’s brother. It was a simple fact that everyone, except Yuusaku, had acknowledged. It was only a matter of time until Yuusaku finally gave up on Ogata and recognized who his brother really was.
Usami walked into the restaurant with a grin. He looked around and feigned surprise as he looked at Ogata. The two of them held eye contact for a moment before Usami continued on with his plan. His goal wasn’t to irritate Ogata, but if it happened along the way it was a win. He called out from the other side of the restaurant, “Is that you, Hyakunosuke?”
Ogata rolled his eyes. He didn’t bother to look at Usami and continued to eat his food as if nothing was happening. It was regrettable that he had become something similar to a friend to Usami. He could only hope that one day he would be able to kill him and rid himself of this sadomasochistic pest. If he ignored Usami, he would hopefully just leave him alone. It seemed that Yuusaku hadn’t caught onto his plan.
Yuusaku smiled kindly at Usami as the man sat down. There was room for Usami to sit down between them comfortably, but he chose to be uncomfortably close to Yuusaku. The only way for them to be any closer would be for Usami to be sitting in Yuusaku’s lap. It was clear from the way that Yuusaku furrowed his brow that he was uncomfortable with their proximity. He didn’t push Usami away or demand space like anyone else did from a misplaced understanding of politeness and manners. He remained in place and smiled at Usami like he would anyone else. That pure and innocent smile was something that Usami clearly didn’t deserve.
“I wasn’t aware you left the base today, Superior Private Usami,” Yuusaku said.
“I was running some errands for the First Lieutenant, sir. I saw you and Hyakunosuke eating lunch,” Usami said. “I hope you don’t mind me joining you, Yuusaku-dono.”
Ogata kicked Usami underneath the table, glaring at him.
“I don’t mind as long as it’s okay with Ani-sama,” he said.
“Will you let me join you, Hya-kun?” Usami taunted.
“Fine,” Ogata sighed, rolling his eyes, “but you should mind your manners, Tokishige. I wonder how First Lieutenant Tsurumi would respond to your lack of manners towards your superiors.”
Usami knew exactly what Tsurumi would do. He would punish him without hesitation to drill in his manners like he had the first time. Usami would take each punishment with a smile on his face. He pushed his legs together as he felt himself start to get excited in a way that Second Lieutenant had yet to experience. The idea of Yuusaku being there while he received his punishment from Tsurumi was an enticing idea he’d need to voice Tsurumi later on. He turned his attention towards Yuusaku and leaned in closer to him with one of his fingers reaching out to touch him.
“You don’t mind me being unprofessional, do you, sir?” Usami asked.
Yuusaku scratched the back of his neck. He looked away from Usami’s intense gaze for a moment to glance at Ogata. It was almost like he was asking for permission to act. Permission that he didn’t need from someone that wasn’t fit to grant him something so fickle. His gaze once again lined up with Usami’s as his heart started pounding in his chest. This was new.
Yuusaku sighed, “As long as it stays between us. I wouldn’t want anyone else to think I’m giving special treatment to certain people, Superior Private Usami.”
“Call me Tokishige,” Usami insisted. He leaned in closer to Yuusaku with his face nearing closer and closer to the Second Lieutenant’s. It was so easy to feel each nervous breath that he sucked in. He could almost feel Yuusaku’s heart racing inside of his chest. If he had any less control over himself, he would’ve leaned in closer and left a bite mark on Yuusaku’s exposed neck. That would have to wait until later. “It’s only fair, Yuusaku.”
Yuusaku nodded, “Alright… Tokishige.”
This whole situation left a bitter taste in Ogata’s mouth. This was the proof that he longed for to prove that Yuusaku wasn’t a pure person, but it was coming from the wrong source. He despised it. Ogata kicked Usami under the table once again, except it was much harder than before. He made eye contact with Usami for a brief second before the man finally caught onto Ogata’s anger.
Usami moved back from Yuusaku. He watched as Yuusaku’s shoulders fell as he let out the breath that he’d been holding onto. It was cute how easy it was to rile up Yuusaku. It was so easy. He ran his fingers along the underside of Yuusaku’s jaw, feeling the man jump a bit in his seat. “Since we’re on a first name basis now that makes us friends, Yuusaku-dono. Just like me and Hyakunosuke.”
Ogata glared at Usami. He really wanted to kill him now.
