Chapter Text
All men are not created equally. It was a lesson Izuku learned when he was four years old. After the doctor determined that he was quirkless, his life went downhill from there. He was bullied, laughed at, and made fun of. He was told that his dream of becoming a hero was unrealistic and impossible for someone like him.
But something would happen that would change everything.
When Izuku was nine, his bullies—his so-called friends—brought him along on a trip so they wouldn’t raise suspicions. During the trip, a storm suddenly occurred and threw him overboard.
Little did anyone know at the time, this would set him on the path to becoming the world’s greatest hero.
Izuku woke up slowly.
“Where am I?” he asked weakly.
A female voice replied, “You’re in my clinic, dear.”
“Who… who are you?” he asked.
“My name is Vestal,” she said. “And you’re on a restricted island. No male has been here in the last few decades.”
“Why?” he asked.
“Because the last males we got were boring, and at best were sent here for bureaucratic purposes.”
“Oh…” Izuku said quietly.
“You were lucky you were found while no sharks were around,” Vestal continued. “How did you end up in the middle of the Pacific Ocean?”
Izuku explained everything about his story.
“Wow,” she said when he finished. “I wonder if that’s why we haven’t had communication with anyone in decades.”
“Probably,” Izuku replied. “After all, heroes are more important than anything else for some reason.”
“Man has always been self-centered,” she said.
“Who owns this island?” Izuku asked.
“It’s a top-secret, old pre-Quirk era government organization,” she replied. “Azur Lane. No records survived when the sudden emergence of Quirks happened all those decades ago. We’ve been here since then… just waiting.”
“Waiting for what?” Izuku asked.
“We need a new commander,” she said.
Izuku blinked in confusion.
“And, well… since we’re desperate for one—”
“You’ll have to do.”
“WHAT?!” Izuku yelled.
