Chapter Text
Jack and Samira were the ER’s unrequited love story. Everybody saw how they would look at each other when no one else was watching. After all, they were all doctors. How couldn’t they notice Jack religiously bringing her coffee, or her comforting him on the roof after a crappy shift. How he would look at her like she was made of sunshine.
Both of them had been individually AND collectively confronted many times. Trinity had even supplied Samira with a dozen shots to try and get her to confess, but it was useless. The only thing that happened was the raging hangover both of them had for the next day.
It was painful how they both tried to hide it. It was like they were in love but didn’t want to get together.
This, my friends, was a ploy. A ploy carried out by two of the smartest doctors at the PTMC. The rest of the Pitt was grossly overestimating Jack’s willpower, considering he had already confessed to her one and a half years ago. Did they seriously think he was still holding out? No, he was a man on his knees in front of the goddess of love.
It was a rainy night. They had been invited to a halloween bar crawl, and they decided to walk home to sober up instead of calling an Uber like everyone else. Shen had shot him a look when they said the both of them were leaving together.
Well, one thing led to another. They had almost reached her house, when he turned to her, and the word vomit began. Thankfully, the saint of a woman that Samira was kissed him before he could embarrass himself anymore.
They had decided to keep this under wraps, incase this didn’t work out, but almost two years in, Jack finally proposed to her. Now, they needed a new plan.
It was a lazy Saturday night, and they were on the couch with a bottle of wine open, when Jack broached the topic.
“Sweetheart?”
“Yes?”
“What do we do?”
Samira was confused, “About what?”
“I mean, we got married a month ago, so do we keep this a secret from the others, or?”
Her face lit up, “Oh my god, Jack! I have a really good plan!”
Samira and Jack came up with the idea to stop being so careful about hiding their relationship. For example, Samira could mention having a partner in passing, Jack could tell Robby he had moved on from his dead wife. Instead of being direct, they would cause speculation, before finally outing it in the near future.
The next shift they had was a fun one. Samira declined plans with Victoria and Trinity, saying she had to go on a date with her boyfriend, leaving two confused doctors in her wake.
Their discourse began the second she left.
“Wait did she say-“
“Boyfriend?! Since when has Mohan had a boyfriend?”
Meanwhile, when the day shift came in, Robby went up to the roof, expecting to find Jack on the edge. Instead, however, he was sitting on a bench, chewing gum.
“What’s up with the gum, finally done ruining your lungs?”
“Yeah, I need to be alive.”
Robby sat down next to him.
“Well that’s new.”
“Yup.”
“You finally found someone?”
“Maybe.”
Jack got up, “Well, I need to go. Pancakes won’t make themselves.”
Robby sat there for a few minutes. ‘Maybe’? Was Jack in love or had his meds run out?
