My fate at the hands of your love

Summary:

“I was ordered to get rid of you fast and easy but I’m having a changed heart. I’ll just let you rot here…how’s that sound?” She asked unbothered. What she hadn’t expected was Vi being resistant. Before she could react, a mouthful of saliva hit her face. Mixed with a good amount of blood and saliva. It only pissed her off. She got up and walked out of VI’s sight, sending Vi into a panic of being left alone. “H-Hey…H-Hey!” She pleaded

Chapter Text

“You have to trust me…” a gentle voice called out. A gentle voice she had grew to love over the years. She sat up straight in her work chair and stared deeply into a set of grayish blue eyes that melted her heart each time she looked into. “It’s not that I don’t trust you my love…” she softly responded as she watched the woman in front of her cave her body in. Her best friend. Her soul and heart. Her wife.

Violet.

Violet Kiramman.

Violet stood nervously before her….defeated, Vi wasn’t the type of person to argue with the people she loved. She was easy going, kind hearted, gentle in ways Caitlyn couldn’t explain; Vi was just an incredible human being. A kind soul that the universe didn’t deserve. She scanned her ocean blues up and down her wife subconsciously as her heart caved for her lover. Vi never wore enforcer gear, it just never felt right to Vi, instead she wore her usual. A white T-Shirt with some perfectly fit utility pants. It fit her well, her toned muscles along with her astonishing tattoo that ran down her forearms. That messy top French cut disheveled as always, that slit through her eyebrow and upper lip….

She was perfect.

“I don’t understand..” she heard her wife say. Which wasn’t a surprise for Caitlyn, VI’s mind worked differently from others; her thoughts were louder….scrambled. It takes her a while for her to understand things and even more so, Caitlyn herself would find herself explaining things to Vi longer than expected. It was just the way Vi was. She had to make sure she had every detail right, no mess ups. Caitlyn watched VI’s brows furrow in utter frustration meaning that Vi was frustrated at herself for not getting it right away. And in that moment, she got up from her chair, and made her way toward the troubled Vi.

“It meant…” she paused and tailed her hand up to VI’s cheek. “It meant that I simply cannot take your side….because we’re married Vi. People will suspect favoritism and that alone isn’t in any favor for you and I…” she started. She looked into those clouded eyes of VI’s and she knew what she had started. Vi was angry which was rare, when she grew angry she hid it well. She watched as VI’s gaze fall to the floor so she raised her other hand and gently cradled VI’s face “look at me…” she started waiting for Vi to look up but she knew it wouldn’t happen, so she continued. “I can’t allow you to attend the mission with her….I’m sorry Vi”

She could see the cogs turning in VI’s mind on how to react and eventually she did react. She huffed through her nose and gently pulled away from Caitlyn’s grasp. Caitlyn knew to lend Vi her space in these situations, this was VI’s way in handling her emotions. And it wasn’t long before Vi took a step back with her head held low and exited out of the office, leaving the Sheriff standing alone.

Caitlyn cleared her throat and straightened out her uniform to regain her composure, it never was easy letting down her lover under these circumstances. It wasn’t that she didn’t believe Vi, it was the fact that every single one of VI’s teammates saw Vi push Maddie Nolan first. Violet’s story made more sense though, Maddie disobeyed a direct order and Vi did her part. She benched Maddie for the rest of the mission and what she’s heard from Vi, Maddie got upset and put her hands on her like a child…

Just the thought of someone putting hands on that gentle soul made Caitlyn grit her teeth. She turned on her heels and returned to her desk, tonight was going to be a long one.

******

It was around eight in the evening, things around the precinct slowed. The ring of her office phone pulled her from her deep focus; she was quick to pick the phone up after three rings “Sheriff’s department, Sheirff Kiramman speaking” there was a long pause and a comfortable silence before she responded back “thank you Taylor, we’ll see you soon” she said before hanging the line up and returning back to her work. She flipped a page and sighed.

Another picture that showed a deceased body with purple ooze substance, gunshot wounds here and there.

Ambessa’s work…

The mother of one of the counsel women, Mel Medarda. About three years ago, Ambessa president of Noxus called for an agreement that Piltover and Zaun would never see to. To unite all three nations and serve her for her own power; and when the two nations declined, war became upon them. She closed the file and heavily sighed as she sat back in her chair feeling defeated. They’ve gotten nowhere since that day, she felt useless. Maybe a minute of silence would help put her mind at ease. She rubbed her temples and let the silence take over, her mind started to relax and that headache behind her eyes started to disappear.

That relaxation soon vanished when her door flew open. Her eyes flew open in utter confusion and annoyance until her eyes landed on a blue haired girl in uniform. “Powder?” She let out confused.

Powder. Violets sister. The only actual family member Vi had. Unfortunately, Powder was completely different from Vi. She was loud. Rough around the edges. extremely intelligent and had an open mind. But it was out of love Vi would say. Four years younger than Vi, but they both acted like they were equals. She had two buns on each side of her head, her uniform was covered in blue and pink spray paint. Even though it went against the policy, Caitlyn allowed it. Because it was what made Powder her own self.

Caitlyn sat up in her chair, her brows knitted together “what’s going on Powder?” Powder grunted out in frustration “where the hell is Vi? She was supposed to help me with that task you assigned us to” she exclaimed. Caitlyn’s heart dropped. It wasn’t like Vi to disobey an order nor disappear without letting anyone know. She opened up a drawer and pulled out her phone and dialed for Vi. An eerie silence hung over their heads as the line rung.

Once..

Twice..

Three time…

No answer.

*****

She knew Maddie was up to something. She had been acting out all day. First her sabotaging the mission, then the weird phone call she tried hiding…something was up. And if no one believed her, she’d just prove them wrong. She’ll find the evidence and make Caitlyn believe her. Which led her here, in front of an abandoned church down in Zaun. She followed Maddie down here which was suspicious, Maddie had no business in Zaun…least of all, she made it clear; she despised any and everything from Zaun including Vi herself.

This was new for Vi, she’s never done something so sudden. Never turned away from Caitlyn. But something was really off her and she just couldn’t shake this feeling. All she wanted to do was make her family proud…make Caitlyn proud. Her sister…

She sat in her police vehicle from afar, not to far but not too close to give away her position and watched Maddie disappear into the eerie abandoned church building. From the looks of it, it looked like it nearly burned down. She got out of the vehicle and crept toward the entrance of the church. Two windows on each side of the entrance, one blocked the other covered with soot but a small crack at the bottom clear enough for her to peep through. Her eyes searched and searched only to find no one inside.

Weird..

She could have sworn Maddie entered this building. For a moment, a wave of unease washed over. Her stomach dipped but she didn’t dare stop now. She was already in violation for disobeying and she knew Caitlyn would surely be angry with her. That thought itself tugged at VI’s heart. She hated when Caitlyn got angry with her, it was rarely but when it did happen she always made sure to make up for what she had done. She shook her head and went for the doors. She paused before taking a deep breath and entering.

When the doors opened, her nose was met with the smell of soot, a metallic odor she knew for a fact it was blood and an old scented smell. Church chairs were half burnt and flipped over, wall paint melted…who could do this to such a good building? The house of Jenna. Her thoughts became too much, there was so many questions she had that she knew would go unanswered. So many emotions coursing through her, why does things like this happen to such beautiful things? She thought.

She began to walk down the aisle and up the three steps that drew the line between her and the statue of her belief…Jenna. Dried up blood splattered over her all white statue, her bottom half covered in soot and the rest unrecognizable.

“Why?…”

Vi rasped out before she trailed up her hand and wiped away a tear that fell. Just as her hand fell at her side, she heard a creak within a floorboard behind her. She was slow…too slow to react…too slow to counter…too slow to move. A sharp pain ignited in her lower abdomen. A red substance started to stain her white shirt as her body began to fail her. She looked up to see her attacker only to be met with light blue eyes and orange hair staring back at her. And before she could process anything, something retracted within her and a sharp pain made it’s way back into her presence. She could only scream out in utter agony.

And without warning, Maddie attacked her yet again only this time with more force than the first. The pain was unbearable as Vi screamed and nearly crumble to the floor. She looked down to see something metal deep in her gut.

Maddie retracted the hunting knife without remorse making Vi crumble to the ground completely. Blood dripped from the knife, as she watched Vi drag her weak body down the steps and away from Maddie herself. She wasn’t too far behind…stalking her like prey. She watched as Vi pull her body up against a fallen chair as she tried to stop the constant bleeding oozing from her stomach. Her groans were almost too painful to watch…she almost took pity on her.

VI’s half focused eyes made their way to the figure towering over her “you just couldn’t let it go could you Captain?” She heard Maddie spit out and kneeled before her. And for a moment Maddie just looked at her with an unreadable expression. As if she was having an salt to self argument within her. VI’s heavy uneven breaths filled the soot air as the cogs started to turn…trying to figure out what to do. It was like Maddie saw through her, knew what she was thinking about because in an instant; Maddie plunged the knife into her left knee.

VI’s screams were powerful, so powerful it shook the abandoned church “well that’s not gonna work Vi! Come on! You’re much more smarter than this!” At this rate, Vi was on the verge of losing consciousness. Her face was red, her shirt was drenched in blood and sweat…she was losing a tremendous amount of blood. Maddie could see Vi start to slowly close her eyes. That couldn’t happen, not yet. So she balled her fist, pulled her arm back and went full force. She punched Vi straight across the face, sending a jolt of pain through her body. She roughly gripped VI’s sweaty locks and tilted her head back. Vi snarled in defense.

“If you would’ve minded your own business we wouldn’t be here! You would be home with your precious little family…” Maddie started. She knew exactly how to get under VI’s skin. She could see a glimpse of fear and anger surface in VI’s face. “I heard your daughter’s home…”

That did it….

Vi sneered before grabbing hold of Maddie’s neck trying to choke her out but that soon ceased when Maddie took her thumb and pressed hard on her knee wound. “There she is! That’s the Vi I want to see!” Maddie laughed out like a lunatic as VI’s screams overlapped her. She took her other hand and started patting Vi down and found her phone. She tossed it on the floor, stood up and stomped on. “There!” Maddie excitedly let out “no one can interrupt us, now…where we’re we?” Maddie sarcastically asked as she kneeled back down. Vi struggled to keep awake.

“H-Hey…H-Hey!” She pleaded as she tried to move but the pain once again ignited within her. She had no time to catch her breath before Maddie returned with something metal in her right hand.

“W—Wait, Mad—Maddie wait…you don—“ Vi tried pleading but was cut off when the air was knocked out of her. Her body twisted to the left, her head cocked to the side with blood tickling down her temple.

Another hit ensued…

Then another…

Then another…

Until finally, Vi went limp. Her body slouched to the side. Blood continued to ooze from her stomach with her beaten face sulking in blood. Not dead but adrift….good enough for Maddie…

She took out her phone, went through her contacts until it landed on the name *Denise Winchester* clicked the photo icon and took a picture of the half dead Violet. She smirked at her supposed good work and turned on her heels and walked out the abandoned church leaving Vi there.

Telephones rung nonstop, people rushed around the precinct…it was pure chaos. Because they all knew how urgent this was. Vi was their own…not to mention the Sheriff’s wife, so yes this was indeed urgent. Inside the Sheriff’s office, shouting could be heard and right after, officers rushing out hurriedly.

Caitlyn paced around her office as her mind raced. Her wife never went rogue like this…her phone was off, she called her eight to twelve different times along with multiple messages and got no response. It only made Caitlyn spiral. This was her last thread…her last piece of sanity. To pinpoint VI’s last location. She waited impatiently to hear back from an officer she sent. She was on the brink of tears before an officer named Steb barged in “Ma’am! We have a problem!….” He exclaimed as he took a step inside and stood at attention “Nolan’s missing as well…she left her shift before it was over” he finished. That comment left Caitlyn at a loss…because Vi also left her shift before it ended.

“Shit..” she cursed herself as she rounded the desk just as Powder barged in “I got it!” She shouted holding up a paper. Caitlyn’s heart started to hammer significantly as she grabbed her keys “you and Steb get a team together…now!” She commanded as she rushed out of the office with Steb and Powder not far behind her. Please be okay…was all she could repeat to herself as she rushed down the halls of the precinct.

She stood in the middle of a wheat sheaf. Her hand over her bloody abdomen, nose bloody and broken, her knee punctured still…but nothing hurt. It was like she was numb to it all. She looked ahead and saw, a familiar farm house. A white two story house with a white picket fence around it. Just like she remembered it. Was this real? She began to limp toward the house, her free hand stealing touches of the sheaf, she stole the smell of wheat and the mist air. And when she made it to the fence, she looked to her right to see two small handprints on it. One small and blue…and the other slightly bigger but pink. And beneath them, two names.

“Powder, Violet”

This wasn’t where she needed to be….but maybe they were here…waiting for her. So she trailed her bloody hand down, unlatched the lock on the fence and entered. As she inched toward the steps, she saw a pair of shoes. Not her shoes…not Powders…not her parents…but small pairs. Her daughters. They were light purple with little dandelions on each side of each shoe. Which was weird…it made her smile at a slight memory.

“Lavender….how about Lavender?”

Ah…that’s right, her daughters name was Lavender. She was fourteen now and in volleyball. She was so good at it to…the laughter of her daughter echoed through the air as she opened up the door and went in. She wasn’t expecting she’d end up in the farm in the next second.

On the very top of the farm where she used to sit with her father. And just as expected that deep soft voice filled her ears. The voice she had missed. “Hey there kiddo…” she looked up to see the man who she called father stand before her. Just like she remembered. He stood tall, broad shoulders, hair slicked back and his beard neat as ever. He had on the same brown beat up farm jacket he wore daily with some jeans that were torn at the knee. And to top it off he had a smoke pipe in his right hand as always. Vi couldn’t stop her smile from ensuing her beaten face.

“D—Dad…” she stammered out. She felt the sunlight beam down on the both of them as she witnessed her fathers hand reach out “come…come stand with me” it wasn't rushed but Vi didn't give it another thought before standing next to the man named Vander. The man who was also responsible for giving her life. Neither of them said a word for a long while, instead they enjoyed the nice sunset that drew upon them. Vander's soft big hand on her shoulder grounding her as they looked past the peaceful wheat sheaf and into the sunset.

"I--i'm sorry...I'm sorry for letting you and mom down" Vi stated out of guilt. Her labored breathing soon filled the air. Vander turned his head to face Vi with a smile "your mother and I couldn't be any more proud of you and the woman you have become" the wind whistled around them. It caught Vi's attention. Because she heard Caitlyn's Voice... Lavenders.... Powders.... "I-I have to find them.... they're here..." Vi rasped out. Her voice shook with urgency as she looked up at her Father for answers "you're not going to find them here kiddo..." Vander softly said as he placed his hand on Vi's shoulder. Vi let out a labored breath and hung her head low "I'm tired Dad...I'm so tired..." She said in between weeps.

Vander could only lift his daughter's head up and smile "I know, I know. But you need to wake up kiddo, they need you. They all do..." He paused and looked up at the sunset "now wake up Vi...wake up..."

Vi followed her fathers gaze and stared on, she took a deep breath and closed her eyes. Letting a tear escape before everything turned white.
